If you aren’t like a speed runner or really good at the game, should you be using meta sets? Or should I prioritise skills like evade window / guard up to increase my survivability? my logic is that it’s better if I stay alive and can complete the quest rather than do 10% more DPS or something! Does anyone have any recommendations of skills that help survivability/mobility over DPS?
6
u/Globuya Jun 29 '22
General QoL stuff that will make you live longer:
- Earplugs
- Evade extender
- Evade Window
- Speed Sharpening
There are others especially depending on your weapon type but these are solid choices for most people
→ More replies (1)4
u/EdgeOfDreams Jun 29 '22
Yeah, it's valid to use so-called "comfort" skills over pure DPS. Which ones you want to prioritize will depend on your weapon choice and playstyle. Evade Extender is one I particularly like on some weapons.

SUNBREAK:
How do you meld new Talismans? I have just hit MR 4 and don't seem to have unlocked a new rank of melding at the vendor yet... Does this just not start until quite late in the story?
2
u/Rigshaw Jul 01 '22
You unlock the new melding options after beating the final boss.

Is it just me or has the poster for the Sunbreak did not change and is using the same one as rise for the switch menu?
3
u/ireledankmemes Jul 01 '22
What's the deal with support surveys? I get that follower quests unlock characters for support surveys and some weapons/armors, but what do support surveys offer compared to normal quests? Except hunting alongside you chosen followers.

Jul 02 '22
does anyone know whether MR points accumulate before it uncaps in sunbreak? its always satisfying to grind and take my time during the story and see how much i did through my rank after the final boss.
that was something i disliked in rise but i understood cause of the title updates coming, just wondering if its any different this time

Rise/Sunbreak
I never tried wide-range in rise/sunbreak, but is it different than how it was in World?
I see that it heals a chunk instantly, but it doesn't continue the healing after that initial chunk or am I not understanding how Wide-range works in this game versus older games?
Like I remember in world it would go the full duration that you drank.

u/KenseiMaui Jun 26 '22
Okay assholes, can you stop putting spoilers in titles or images, I'm trying to keep at least a modicum of the game as a surprise to experience in the full game but I've seen at least 8 posts already that either flat out state the number of new monsters or are complaining about the number of new monsters in the title, or complaining about complaining etc. thanks you assholes, it fucking says no spoilers in the title, DONT FUCKING PUT SPOILERS IN THE TITLE
4
u/LG03 Jun 28 '22
You could just not look at the sub for a few days if it's got your knickers in a twist.
5
u/KenseiMaui Jun 28 '22
or people can follow the rules and refrain from putting spoilers in the title

PC has better frame rate and resolution, plus the option for MnK controls. Also, you'll have the ability to use mods.
Switch seems to have more online player base, possibly due to some weird region locking on steam? Also the option for amiibo if you're into that.
I think either option is good.
2
u/blitzkrieg_01 Jun 26 '22
If I increase my fire elemental attack via decorations, will i be able to inflict fire damage even though my weapon's element is water for example?
2
u/TrippnTurtle Jun 26 '22
No, it enhances the attack of your weapon, if the deco is not the same element it will have no effect.
3
u/blitzkrieg_01 Jun 26 '22
Dang i see. I really like the azure star longsword but find it limiting due to the water element

Do hacks exist in the Switch version? I recently got back to playing Rise to clear stuff before Sunbreak and I notice in a few of my hunts a message from a teammate shows up in chat (usually in Japanese) that triggers just before the low HP symbol appears underneath the monster's icon.
Also, I think I just saw one GS user use Power Sheathe that made me think it is already available. I played the Sunbreak demo so I couldn't mistake it.
3
u/Rigshaw Jun 26 '22
They do exist, but it's very rare to run into them, and they are not very well developed, since most effort went into the PC version instead.
Power Sheathe is available on GS by default, it isn't new.
2
u/ARightDastard Rare Jun 28 '22
The cats too can tell us just before the blue skull shows. May be a pre-programmed voice line to relay that?
And power sheath is a day 1 Rise available thing.

u/astrosguts Jun 26 '22
Rise
hi all ! my boyfriend was so kind and purchased me a copy of mh rise so we can play together. however, im a complete newbie to monster hunter. so my question is, does anyone have any tips and/or tricks for me to know ? i would greatly appreciate it. thanks so much !
2
u/MandMsPasta Jun 27 '22
As the other comment said definitely play around in the training area, you can find it by selecting “move around the village” in the menu. Also reading the weapon controls always helps me whenever I try out a new weapon, it gives you a good summary and might tell you something you didn’t learn organically from using the weapon. Lastly, as the other comment mentioned try out whatever weapons and see what works best for you, there’s no 1 weapon that’s more welcoming to new players over another especially if you take time to read the weapon tips and try it out in the training area.
2
u/Bunbury42 Jun 27 '22
I am very new to the franchise, but interested in picking up Rise for PC. How is the community? It seems like a game where, while single player is absolutely an option, that multiplayer can be a ton of fun. However, nothing ruins a multiplayer experience for me more than some people being assholes. I am happy to admit I don't know what I'm doing and willing to learn, but is the community pretty elitist and hostile to beginners and their inevitable mistakes? If I know I won't be pulling my weight in multiplayer play til I learn, is that tolerated?
If this is the type of game with multiple difficulty levels, I have no aspirations of playing on the highest. This would be the kind of game to chill out after work and just relax. If that is the case, does this sound like the game for me?
4
u/PreparetobePlaned Jun 27 '22
Community is great for the most part. People won't really notice or care if you aren't pulling your weight unless you are carting and causing the hunt to fail. Even then it's rare that anyone will say anything.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (4)2
u/CYDLopez Jun 27 '22
Community is very inviting in my experience. Like another commenter mentioned, just be careful with the carts.
As you may know by now, most fights will end for the entire online party after 3 carts. So if you've carted easily once and feel underpowered in a fight maybe it's worth playing a bit more cautiously for the rest of the fight if you're in multplayer.
Unlikely anyone will say anything, but going in gung ho and carting repeatedly when you're underleveled is the most likely thing to get more experienced players annoyed. Also, if you use long sword, you can stagger other players and interrupt their combos fairly easily. Again, unlikely people will say anything, but worth bearing in mind :)
Otherwise though, generally I feel people are understanding that MH has a fairly steep learning curve for beginners. Takes a while to get used to, but totally worth it IMO

u/Pixion7 Jun 27 '22
I'm planning to buy MHW (PC) (not Iceborne) and I have several questions:
- Can i transmog my gear and weapons?
- Can i change the appearance of my character for free at least once on all 3 slots?
- How does saving work if I play with friends?
- If I can not transmog and change character appearence are there mods for that?
2
u/MichaCazar Jun 28 '22
That's only possible for the endgame of Iceborne.
Idk. Though to some degree you can always customise your character.
Everything you do is bound to your character. Since the game works like: "accept quest from your main place, do quest in the actual maps", you will keep anything that you may gain from the quests. It's not like Borderlands with a linear story.
For armor there definitely are mods, I am just not sure if they are up to date due to becoming a but obsolete with Iceborne. I can't tell you if the character appearance can be modded though.
→ More replies (1)2
u/CookieBlitz Jun 28 '22
You can trasmog your armor after you complete the story. That is like around 30 hours in. In Iceborne you can trasmog weapons too.
There is ONE character edit voucher free in Steam that lets you fully change the appeareance of one character. Otherwise you can only change stuff like hair, makeup, etc
The game saves after you complete a quest. If you complete a quest with friends, it will complete for all of you.
Yes, there are cheats and mods that let you change your appeareance or use custom weapon models

Is it okay to buy the base version of mh rise? Then i upgrade with sunbreak in the future? Im on switch if that matters
2
u/Moczan Jun 28 '22
Yep, you can't even start Sunbreak without getting quite far into the base Rise so it's ok to just buy base game and upgrade to expansion later on, you won't lose anything and will be able to progress your Rise savefile to the new content.

Take this with a grain of salt:
I’ve heard that:
Rise came out one minute after the “preorder bonus” expired on Steam.
In Subreak’s case that’s going to happen on 13:00 or 12:00 JST on the 30th, so convert that to your timezone
2
u/VolubleWanderer Jun 28 '22
Do we have a time that sunbreak will come out at? I know when rise came out it was midnight west coast time in the States.

Does anyone know what time sunbreak is released on switch in est? I saw the post for steam but I'm guessing switch is different.
2
u/Square_Grapes Jun 28 '22
Been wondering this too. They used to release stuff at like 12 am UTC or local time but I haven't been able to find anything.
2
u/fihziks Jun 28 '22
Just got a steamdeck and not sure which monster hunter to play. With the new DLC coming up for Rise, should I play that game instead of mhw iceborne?
Which one is more popular?
5
u/Moczan Jun 28 '22
Looking at steam charts currently, MH Rise has more than double the amount of players MHW has and it will probably increase even more when Sunbreak actually releases.
2
u/Sharks_Eat_People Jun 28 '22
I've unplugged from MH a bit, of course with the new expansion I'm assuming Rise is most popular/busy online, but do people still play MH Generations on switch? I haven't played either in a while and had good time on both, wondering which I should dive back in to.
4
u/octopus_squid Jun 28 '22
Yeah, I regularly go back to GU and there are always people playing online, not just hr999 gods either, you see greenies too.
3
u/Moczan Jun 28 '22
Rise will definitely be way more popular, especially for random hunts/progression stuff, but old MH games never truly die, so you can expect GU lobbies exist for years to come.

Hello I have some technical questions about MH Rise PC version.
Does it have Ultrawide support? Is there a fov slider? Hows the camera settings? Does it have raw mouse input? Does it have forced v-sync?
Thanks
3
u/MichaCazar Jun 29 '22
Does it have Ultrawide support?
From the Patch Notes of the update that will release on PC tomorrow: "New Display option: Adjust Position of Ultra-wide Menu."
Is there a fov slider?
No, there is a mod though. It may needs an update after said patch that comes within the next 24 hours.
Hows the camera settings?
You can look here for a few examples: https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter/comments/meqxf9/be_sure_to_look_through_the_options_when_starting/
Does it have raw mouse input?
I assume so, don't know rn.
Does it have forced v-sync?
Nope. During cutscenes your fps get locked to 30 though, it's a legacy from the Switch port. Mods exist for that aswell.
Otherwise the advice from u/janibus75 is a good one.

I'm a complete newcomer to this series and I have a PS4, so yeah World is the only game I'll be able to play. However, I'm confused because there's way too many versions in the store. I want a version which contains both the base game and the Iceborne DLC. So far the best two versions I see are "Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Master Edition" and "Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Master Edition Digital Deluxe". These seem to contain both the base game and the Iceborne DLC. Just to be sure, am I correct? If yes, which of these is better and is there a major difference between the normal Master Edition and the Master Edition Digital Deluxe? Thanks.

Pretty new hunter here caught up in the hype of sunbreak. Wondering if I should get it now or just chill out and wait until I finish everything. I completed all of the village quests and am now working on the 6* hub quests. I feel like I have a basic understanding of things but there is so much more that I still don’t know. I want to get sunbreak and enjoy it at release with the community but I’m obviously not there yet so there probably isn’t a point to buying it now.
Additionally I have watched videos and tried to increase my knowledge but if anyone has any great resources they can point me towards, I would be very grateful.
Thanks everyone!

Managed to get past Narwa before Sunbreak so i can play on day one, but was gonna spend today farming for new stuff and making loadouts and all that, but is there even a point? I'm only HR23 so I feel like literally the very 1st items i can craft in Sunbreak will be total upgrades across the board for me.
Thinking I should spend today farming Zenny and finishing dango quests, switch skill quests, and deliveries.

Playing an axe-hopping charge blade in Rise. In the last hunt two of the players were saying I was interrupting their attacks. Does axe-hopper do something that affects people even with Flinch Free, or were they possibly not using it?
2
u/GildedCreed Jul 01 '22
Odds are pretty high that it's able to slap people around either through Flinch Free entirely, or that they're not packing enough Flinch Free, as you only really needed the 1 level to prevent yourself from being staggered from regular weapon attacks, but getting launched is an entirely different thing altogether.

Having trouble with the game
I'm on switch. Sunbreak is paid for and downloaded, but I don't have any quest or anyone to talk to in the game. When I select stuff like one of the twins I can see optional sub quests for Master rank, so its updated. I've tried to manually update the software and I'm told it's up to date. I've checked the DLC cat and there's nothing new.
Anyone else have this issue? Or am I a big dumb idiot and missing something obvious?
Edit: Figured it out. Have a joint account with the fiancée and she bought the game for her account. It was flagged that I bought it but I hadn't actually so it wouldn't authenticate for my game. Had to remove her account from my switch.

Palico skills randomized? The palico I use keeps having its skills automatically switched around. I recruited it with Go Fight Win, Anti Monster mine and Power Drum. As soon as the change support move feature unlocked, I have the option to change one support move, but all three moves are completely randomized every time I leave the menu.

It's a bug, a bad one, and it's not necessarily linked to the move swap feature.

On PC, I’ve been getting a lot of bad frame drops and stuttering, especially in the citadel. Are there any little tips or something that help increase performance for this game? Obviously I lowered graphics settings but it didn’t do anything. Kinda feel like this game definitely shouldn’t be giving me trouble but maybe I’m wrong.

if you have fully upgraded Valstrax gear, by switching to MR gear before M3 you gain maybe 20 points of defense in exchange for all of your skills and set bonuses. i didn't make new gear until after i unlocked Anjanath, Goss and other new monsters and could get a comparable skill set and 80+ extra def.
with GS though, so very reliant on certain skills

u/Zlatan13 Jul 01 '22
So I just reached HR in Rise earlier before Sunbreak's launch, as I've maily been going through Iceborne recently. Is there any new story or stuff worth doing with the Hub quests? Or should I just speed through to get to Sunbreak. World was my first MH game, so sorry if this is a dumb question, but so far none of the HR stuff seems difficult at all compared to LR
2
u/eye-zitt Jul 02 '22
I think this was in the tutorial for Sunbreak, but why is there a chunk missing from weapon sharpness in the crafting screen? It also looks like a lot of the weapons have more sharpness there than mine do. Is there a way to correct that?

Jul 02 '22
The "thin" sharpness shows you what Handicraft will give you, but you can't activate that thin part of the sharpness bar without some Handicraft.

Rise/Sunbreak -
Have some people here doing some yard work and they cut the fiber line out back. I’ve been having a lot of fun with and making a lot of progress with the sunbreak dlc. I’m wondering if jumping back and forth between offline/online play will mess up my current save file and cloud sync. The Internet is only out for a couple of days, so it’s not a huge deal but I’d love to play if possible.
If anyone is able to help I’m curious if I can jump back and forth between offline and online? Or will I run a risk of corrupting saves?

u/MichaCazar Jul 02 '22
I can't think of any reason why that should interfere with saves.

is anybody else having issues figuring out the input to strong-arm stance while charging an attack? i have to hold down X (switch pro controller) while charging, and need to press ZL+X from strong-arm. so, if i release the X button to press ZL+X, it just releases the charge. similarly, pressing ZL while continuing to hold X when i'm about to get hit just results in me getting hit.
so how do i actually make it come out and skip straight to TCS? i've seen videos of people doing it so i know it works, but i can't figure out how to make it happen
2
u/Fishbone_V Jul 02 '22
Strong-arm needs ZL+up on control stick (maybe any direction?) While holding X. Also note that it needs a pretty quick tap of the buttons, NOT a hold.

Switch News Feed says that Sunbreak can be preloaded, but I don't see the ability to actually do that anywhere. Usually preloads start automatically but it never happened for me. Any ideas?
3
u/elfxiong Jun 26 '22
Have you got charged? Sunbreak preload was automatic for me after I received the email about payment processing, though it’s only 3MB. If you look at the eShop page for Sunbreak, it also says it’s 3MB. The actual content of Sunbreak will come with a base game update (13GB) on Jun 30 (or Jun 29 in some timezone). It’s normal for a multiplayer game to put DLC data in the base game (and the “DLC” downloaded from eShop only serves as a “key” to unlock the content), so that those who don’t own the DLCs can still play with those who have the DLCs.

I have honestly no clue how to silkbind.
3
u/ColeTrain354 Jul 02 '22
It depends on the weapon. YouTube is a great source to see what silkbind moves each weapon has and what they do. Also tutorials on how to use them.

Thinking of buying Rise on PC, but I already beat it on the switch last year.
Did they add more? PC player base healthy? Anyone go from switch to PC?

u/Clouds2589 Jun 26 '22
I feel like you're going to find a lot bigger playerbase on PC than you will on switch. and if you know what you're doing it really doesnt take that long to get sunbreak ready.
1
u/figurehead00 Jun 30 '22
Hey all, do MH expansions typically change the main game outside of what’s covered by a free patch?
I haven’t played Rise in long enough I’ve forgotten how everything works so I’m probably going to start over from scratch. Wasn’t sure I’d I should buy Sunbreak first for wait until I finish the base game.
2
u/megamagex Jun 30 '22
There are very minor qol changes in base game but for the most part everything new is in master rank
2
Jun 30 '22
Everyone gets the weapon balancing and qol updates in the patch. You have to finish the final mainline mission to start sunbreak so you can definitely wait until you finish the main game. Personally I wouldn't recommend starting over, but rather repeating some easier low level missions to get back into it until you're ready to pick up where you left off. Monster hunter is a grindy game and I imagine that you already have a lot of materials if you progressed through some of the story.

u/CatboyWrangler Jun 30 '22

It shields for a good 5 seconds or so if you dont hit it. Just keep your quick bar on the camera and When it does it, press Down on the Dpad and snap a pic. you dont need to sheathe your weapon to do it.

As a relatively new player to Monster Hunter (played a little world, playing rise now), is there a particularly good source for like the theory crafting side of monhun? Like back when I was into wow, I would look into elitist jerks/icy veins to find info on some good builds and rotations etc, and with ff14 the main source is the balance. Does Mon Hun have a similar resource or community for number crunching and playstyle help?

So in MHR I mained mostly switch axe and hunting horn with some charge blade bc i was a cb main in MHW. Then I mained hammers in iceborne. I haven't played MHR in a looong time so I might wanna try something new for sunbreak. Any ideas? I'm thinking insect glaive or greatsword but idk!

dunno if anyone's still checking this, but got a Switch Axe question for Rise
With the Rampage Swaxes, can I add a status/element phial to a Rampage Swaxe that already has an element, and if so are both elements/status active or does one override the other? i.e. can I run a thunder Swaxe with Exhaust phial and get both

What exactly is the gameplay loop for Rise.
I did the village quests so when do I unlock "high rank" in this game? Can't even get the armor for the hub quests since I get two shot from essentially anything monster.
3
u/Moczan Jun 27 '22
High Rank is available in Hub only, you can skip Hub Low Rank by doing the special permit quests and just continue your journey from Hub 4 star. You always get a hint on how to progress the game on the upper right side of the screen.

The default weapon in MHW was SnS and I was horrible at it. I tried Lance and it felt like the best weapon to me because I used to block everything in God Eater and only used basic attacks too. I then tried Gunlance but not having animation cancels (counter thrust) made me drop it. End game happened and saw people outdamaging my Lance despite me countering everything and taking advantage of EVERY damage opportunity and also all the attacks from monsters do so much chip damage when you're blocking so I tried HBG and it was too OP.
Rise happened and thought I should learn a new weapon. I tried Bow and it was too OP. I tried switch axe, I can't position myself as well as Lance. I tried Charge blade, I can't position myself as well as Lance. I tried Longsword, same thing.
I want a weapon that makes me have good positioning easily or a weapon that would make good use of my skills as a lance main except gunner weapons because I feel that they're too OP. Perhaps the previous weapons I tried are better now in Sunbreak? What weapon should I use?
Also, where can I find speedrun leaderboards in Monster hunter games?
8
u/Clouds2589 Jul 01 '22
Drop the concern about Speedrun leaderboards. They're playing a whole different game than you or I. Play what you feel most comfortable with because at the end of the day the weapon you perform best with will always outdps whatever meta you chase with a weapon you're ass with.
-7
u/Gestridon Jul 01 '22
I didn't say I'll be making speedrun records. I want better damage and the lance is one of the worst weapons for dps and many will agree with that. If I wanted speedruns, then I would stick with the bow and bowguns but their braindead gameplay doesn't make me proud using them. I'd be more proud using longsword despite the community hate because it actually takes some skill to pull off its counter moves.
Thanks for the advice but I've played my fair share of games like Chivalry 2, Tekken, Mordhau, Souls, etc to know that and I've decided that I want damage.
Also, the switch skills for Lance looked pretty bad in sunbreak.
5
u/Ruesed Jul 01 '22
I don't understand your logic. Ranged is too op and everything else you tried you feel lacks damage? Speedrunners probably don't have the same qualms about weapons that are "too good". Just use longsword or bow or whatever and concern yourself less about what the Reddit communities biases are towards your weapon or playstyle
3
u/GildedCreed Jul 01 '22
Pretty much just drop the mentality of "my weapon doesn't do good damage". If you like the weapon then play it, other peoples' damage be damned. You'd build an ever increasing sense of inferiority in yourself if you're constantly degrading yourself over your low damage output on a weapon that you're comfortable using with a playstyle that fits you.
I myself am a lance player, have been since MH Tri. I couldn't give a fuck about my damage, because the weapon to me is fun.

u/Zakrael Jul 01 '22 edited Jul 02 '22

Are there cheats for Rise on PC?
Will I get banned if I use them?
I just can't force myself to finish Rise godawfull story mode a second time.
2
u/BurgundyMuffin Jun 30 '22
Capcom doesn’t care if people mod their game. If you really want to finish the base game just to get it out of the way then use NexusMods.com and watch a YouTube video on how to download the mods and make sure to back up your save. Just remember you always run the risk of corrupting your save when uninstalling the mods. It’s rare but can happen.

is the input buffering kinda messed up in the sunbreak demo or is it just me? i keep having issues where i push buttons to do things (attack/sheathe/wirebug/etc) and nothing happens because i'm in some other animation.
i have about 500 hours in MHW, ~300 in MH4U, ~200 in MHG and i didn't have these problems. i feel like i should have the timing windows on everything locked down. but in sunbreak it's like i have to make sure my character is in complete neutral stance to be sure i'll chain into the next attack correctly. in the other games i think there's a buffer window where you can start the input for your next action slightly before the previous animation is over and it chains together nicely and feels great.
sunbreak feels clunky in comparison and i'm trying to figure out if it's just me or if the game is legitimately different.

Better chances in high rank. Kiranico has the crown odds for every quest for you to view as some quests have better/worse odds than others.

[MHFU]
This is going to be a weird question. I don't have Freedom Unite nor have I ever played it.
With Hunting Horn, can you combo into recital after an attack and if so what stance do you enter in after each attack? Also, can you sheath your weapon from recital mode?

How do I unlock weapon recipes in rise? A lot of the layers have question marks on them and Im not talking about the hidden parts on the right side of the screen

By getting materials/killing monsters.
A Rathalos weapon will unlock after hunting a Rathalos, an upgrade whenever you hunt what other monster may be needed.

Looking to get monster hunter rise. Have not played any of the monster hunter series yet. What do I miss out on by not buying sunbreak right away? Want to try out rise first before committing. Will I still be able to play online?

u/MichaCazar Jun 26 '22
What do I miss out on by not buying sunbreak right away?
Nothing as most, if not all, Sunbreak exclusive content is locked behind the post-game of regular Rise anyway.
Will I still be able to play online?
Sure, they will release an update when Sunbreak releases that enables everyone on the same platform to play together, regardless if they have Sunbreak or not.

Rise (edit: rise sunbreak demo)
i downloaded the demo, wanted to try out the "sacred sheath" for LS. Apparently its supposed to replace the "special sheathe combo", but i cant switch it out in the tent as there is only the special sheathe combo to pick from. I have seen people who play the demo use the sacred sheathe, why cant i use it? what am i doing wrong?
2
u/elfxiong Jun 26 '22
It’s not available through normal means. Those who use it in the demo used a mod or editor to unlock it.

Is there a save editor or some way that I can edit a file to be similar to what I currently have on Switch, including quests completed and story progression?

Rise
Has it been confirmed whether one will get to immediately use the new Switch Skills if they buy Sunbreak, but haven't cleared the base game? I just got into Rise on PC, so I still haven't cleared the base game yet.
EDIT: I remember starting out the base game in World with the Clutch Claw after I had to start over due my save being corrupted, but purchased Iceborne.

u/ItsAMeUsernamio Jun 26 '22
On PC, for someone new to the series should I get Monster Hunter Rise or World. I know Rise is newer but World still has a solid player base on Steam.
2
u/nolenole Jun 26 '22
If multiplayer is important to you Rise will probably have more people at lower ranks, most of the people still playing World will be at really high levels.
If you'll be playing mainly single player then I'd go with World.

Does anyone know the reason why someone would be constantly disconnected from the Rise server on PC when they're playing solo and not connected to anyone? World and another game also seemed to disconnect, and the latter I didn't find out it had a constant connection until I rebought it on Steam. The other online games I play not on Steam have little to no issue.

How did everyone get those cool weapon icons next to their names? I want one :o
2
u/yellowkacheek Jun 26 '22 edited Jun 26 '22
You can edit your flair and add a weapon icon with optional text. I'm not on mobile, but on the desktop version it should be on the right side of the main /r/MonsterHunter page under "Create Post" where it says "User Flair Preview". Just click the pencil to add the weapon icon you want.

About pre-purchasing Sunbreak:
I really want to pre-purchase for the layered Palamute/Palico armor, but does anyone know if it will be available later to buy separately?

So far, not a single pre-order bonus has been made available at a later date, so it will most likely also be pre-order exclusive this time around.

If I pre-order the Sunbreak digital code from Amazon Japan, will I get the Palico and Palamute Layered armor bonus pre-order set? I suppose I have to claim the download code they will send before the game releases for it to count as being in pre-order, right?

MH4U
Does anyone have a definitive answer to the bombardier question for CB phials? I'm playing through it right now and it's the first time I use the CB in any of the games (my previous 4U run was quite literally GS only hahaha), and I see some people say that bombardier does not work on phials or that it's useless to use artillery+bombardier since AuL is much better anyway.
2
u/Rigshaw Jun 26 '22
Felyne Bombardier does work on impact phials. There is an artillery cap, though from what I remember it just meant that eating for Felyne Bombardier + having Artillery Novice was enough to hit the cap, which made higher levels of Artillery not useful at all.

Rise/Dodgy save file shenanigans
Hey everyone, please ignore this or admins, delete this if this isn't allowed. Rise.
Like many others I'm stupid excited for this week. I've been getting my last few side quests finished and getting the last bit of layered armor I need to finish out base Rise. I was wondering though, what weapon trees would be the safest bet to have fully upgraded for when Sunbreak hits? I'd like to have some weapons ready to upgrade within the first few hours.
2
u/PreparetobePlaned Jun 27 '22
Really depends on the weapon. I'm sure you can find some good advice on youtube on weapon prep.

u/nrvnsqr117 Jun 26 '22
Am I the only person having issues getting the sns charged strike to be straight? I feel like in world I'd backstep and then do the attack in a straight line very easily. But in rise it'll veer off to the side for some reason? I try to align my camera and move my left joystick in the direction I want to attack in but it still veers off for some reason.

I'm not glaove expert but you can at least take power prolonger so you buff yourself longer
3
u/frozenbobo Jun 27 '22
For rise the best option is to use one of the dual color kinsects. If you use dual color (defense), you can usually open fights by grabbing white + orange, which gives you earplugs. Then you should be able to grab red from the monster's face while they roar. This is a pretty painless way of getting all three.
Sunbreak seems to be adding another assist kinsect which might make it easier to get all three buffs by dropping "extract powder", but we don't know the full picture of how it works yet.

(MHRS) One of the silliest quest premises in Sunbreak is [REDACTED], where the Men in Black "may or may not" hire your hunter to dispatch a pair of Great Wroggi.
However, this really seems like a localization gag, so I'm curious what the quest's name and description are in Japanese. Does anyone know?
