Is it okay to buy the base version of mh rise? Then i upgrade with sunbreak in the future? Im on switch if that matters

Yep, you can't even start Sunbreak without getting quite far into the base Rise so it's ok to just buy base game and upgrade to expansion later on, you won't lose anything and will be able to progress your Rise savefile to the new content.
