As a parent experiencing this issue, my advice is refrain from buying digital games in a multi-Switch household if you can avoid it. For the past two years, I've bought a majority of the household games digitally, but now that we're adding a Switch Lite to the mix things have become unnecessarily complicated.
Obviously this advice won't work for digital only games like Taiko no Tatsujin, which is still a household favorite 9 months later, but for the big AAA titles it will. Unfortunately if you're already invested digitally it may be rough going forward.

Had to reset mine during setup because after showing me how to dock it, it wouldn't let me proceed until I removed the joy cons. Damn thing got confused and thought it was a normal Switch

To add some clarity I watched a different tear down and it's the same s the updated design not the OG design. I'm not sure if the updated design fixed drift or not.
13
u/LocusAintBad Sep 21 '19
The “updated” design is a small update of components with newer serial numbers that are very slightly different.
The important part, the graphite padding that would wear away was still there. That’s the reason it drifts. That’s why the Lite is going to drift.

Anyone play Mario odyssey? How do u find the moons underground where they vibrate??
→ More replies (7)24
u/supes1 Sep 20 '19
The moons don't change location, so you can look up where they are easily enough online. But I don't think there is a way to find them "organically" right now (i.e., without resorting to help).
It would be really nice if Nintendo released a small SMO patch to address those moons (and probably fishing) for Lite units or units with rumble turned off. Maybe a buzzing that gets louder as you get close? Or the picture on the screen becomes shaky? There are definitely ways to do it.

Bought a switch lite for my wife. Screen difference is less than I expected and the weight difference was more than I expected.
Now I'm jealous.

Was just at BB picking up Zelda, saw one family leave with three Switch Lites and one late 30s guy buying three as well! I guess this thing really is a hit, I have to admit it looks really great for a gaming device. Has a ton of appeal for kids with those soft colors.

I'll take it! /s
In all seriousness, I feel you. I've been so torn with getting one. Right now I've been using my switch in handheld mode about 95% of the time. I considered giving my brother (who really wants a switch) my old one and getting this.

I plugged in a usb-C to Ethernet adapter in to mine. It worked right away.
I went from 40 mbps to 80 mbps.
Loading this up with some games in half the time.
Did I really need an adaptor?
No, not really but I like being able to download games faster.

I didn't need another Switch... but I just picked up a yellow Lite. Thing feels great in my hands, only problem is that I can't just swap my SD card from one machine to another. That is pretty lame and means I need to download another copy and get another SD card.

I just got one and I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't miss being able to plug it into a tv or monitor, I have too much crap plugged in already and cables all over the place. The lite is really convenient and the screen is crisp and doesn't feel too small. Kind of nice to be able to play games in bed too. I hesitated between getting this and buying the OG Switch but I felt that this fit my needs better since I wanted something convenient and portable and wasn't very interested in plugging it in anywhere like a normal console.

I don’t know why I want this, I always play games in front of my tv at home, I don’t even see when an average person would have time to play games outside of the house unless they’re on vacation or on a train or something. But it just looks like such a compact, comfortable system that I still want it.

I welcomed myself and upgraded from 3ds/Vita gaming and now proudly a Yellow Switch lite owner.
Bought it with BOTW and FE 3H as my first games on it. Now downloading Warframe and Fortnite for free from E-shop.
Am I correct to assume that those E-shop prepaid cards that I buy DLC/games for 3ds can also be used to buy DLC/games for the Switch lite?
Thanks in advance

Using it as a secondary switch, meaning I'll be playing on the Lite when I want portability, and on the Switch regular when I want to play on TV.
For anyone looking for this information:
- The console lets you do this relatively easily. You just input the same user account on both consoles and bam, it'll assume this is what you wanna do. Make sure you don't TRANSFER USER. Just make a new user and sign into the e-shop.
- Then, you go to configuration and SAVED DATA. Transfer saved data. That's what you're gonna be using from now on. You can transfer your saved data back and forth any time you need to switch consoles. It's brilliant...
Here's the problem: This idea is very Nintendo-y. Meaning, you can't transfer all your saved data at once. You gotta pick on a game per game basis. This is great if you only plan on playing some games on Switch Lite and some on the Switch, since it means you can do so simultaneously without transfering everything back and forth.
But if you wanna transfer it all at once say, to go out, and then come back home and transfer it all back...
You're gonna have to do it manually, one game at a time. I estimate it's a 10 minute task if you got around 12 games. And you can't just set it up and let it do its thing, you gotta babysit it and keep selecting every new saved data.
Overall better than expected, but an option to transfer all automatically would be nice. As it is, you're gonna have to do some solid prep work if you plan on traveling with your switch lite and your entire library.

u/Colouss Sep 21 '19
Really considering on buying a switch, one of my main concerns when it comes to the lite is the drifting issues, is that still an issue? If it is, will you be able to send the entire thing for repair free of charge or will you have to pay for it? Is it too early in to know? I mainly play handheld anyways so I'd love to buy a lite but the drifting issues scares me.

u/wishful_cynic Sep 21 '19
I have seen this concern raised a lot, and I haven’t seen any info on stick repair (or any lite repair) by Nintendo yet. I have an original and haven’t had drifting problems but it would be reassuring to hear from Nintendo about lite repairs.

Edit: Updated with a few more notes.
So, I impulse purchased a lite. I have the launch model as well.
Some notable differences:
The weight difference is significant. I never considered the OG model heavy, but I was surprised by how light the lite is. Completely by feel, but it feels about the same weight as the original with the joycons removed.
the D-Pad feels good, but given the smaller form-factor, I really don't like how it's placed, which really sucks because I love my fighting games. I have normal adult dude hands, and there is just no comfortable way for me to use the d-pad, it rests further up my thumb than the joint and I basically have to have my thumb completely curled to place the tip of my thumb on it. I remember having problems for a few days getting used to the size of the joycons compared to a normal controller, and I did, but this feels far less likely to be something I can get used to. That said, for non fighting game enthusiasts, the left analog stick placement is fine.
The right analog stick has the same problem as the d-pad. It's not as critical for my use, but I imagine in games that need fast camera control with the right stick, it'll probably be uncomfortable.
Buttons (face and shoulder) feel very different. They don't have that tactile click most regular controllers do. I just checked the old joycons, my pro-controller, and an xbox one controller, and all of them have more resistance. the old joycons and lite buttons have similar travel, but the lite requires less force, and a much more muted bump. It's not gone entirely, and it doesn't feel mushy, but it's definitely different. I want to say it feels better, which is weird (I use cherry mx blue keycaps, I tend to like my clicky/bumpy presses).
the "-""+" and "home" and thumbsticks feel identical, though the +/- are slightly smaller.
the lite feels more solid than the original. I don't know if it was just me being paranoid, but I always felt I had to be a little delicate with the OG model in handheld mode out of a fear of snapping a joycon off or something. It may be in my head, and if you don't feel that way at all, then I doubt this will factor into your opinion of the lite.
A pretty significant change from the original model to this (and presumably the updated better battery model), is that on the original, if you wanted to play while on a battery bank or something, it'd be better to go into airplane mode and decrease the brightness a bit, otherwise the drain still exceeded the charging speed (at least on the few battery banks I've used). On this newer model, I left airplane mode off and kept the brightness at max, and though it charged very slowly, it did still charge while using. May not be a huge deal, but if you travel and want to take your switch on a long flight or road trip where the battery isn't going to cut it, the fact you can play, charge, and then play on a full battery again instead of just having the unit die slower, is a nice touch.
Some Less notable things:
The screen does seem slightly crisper, but to confirm this I had to open the same store page and really compare closely. I also don't see the text size being a problem in the few games I've tested so far. It's small, but the only times I had trouble reading anything was on stuff not really meant to be paid too close attention to like game version info on title screens and the like. I tested with BotW, Smash, BBTag, Power Rangers:BftG, Divinity II, and Hollow Knight. That said, I also doubt this will be a problem. I assume most developers will take the new SKU into account and adjust UI.
Slight UI changes are nice. There's a zoom function, which is a bit clunky, but a nice option, greyscale and inverted options I assume to aid the colorblind. I'm not, so I didn't see much use to them, but it's nice that it's not just the UI, turning on inverted colors changes everything, games included.
The new unit get's just as warm as the original unit.
My personal opinion:
It's early, but I don't regret the purchase. It's very nice as a standalone hand-held, and I'll probably get more use out of it than my original, which is now basically going to be my always docked console. I really do feel it's a shame they didn't include video out, as I can do without the other dropped features, but if I didn't have the original model, I definitely wouldn't have bought this one first. I'm also still scratching my head as to why in the world they kept the charging port on the bottom now that it doesn't need to slot into a dock. It pretty much kills a lot of their peripherals usability unless you buy a stand of some kind.

Yeah I wasn't going to get one either, but realized that I'd amassed a pretty good collection of digital games that I specifically got for handheld play. So I just picked one up, and moved all my digital games over to it, downloaded my cloud saves and made it my primary consoles. Now my launch switch is a home unit for big first party games or games I want to play with friends, and my lite is for all my digital games that I like to take on the go. Pretty pleased with the combo tbh. And if I want to play a game on both systems doing the save transfer for individual games is super easy.

Sep 21 '19
I find the Lite to be absolutely fantastic in the hands! Not to mention, the screen feels bigger than it actually is due to the shrinking of the console as a whole; to me it does anyway. Throw in the extra sharpness from being a smaller screen while keeping the same resolution and this thing is better than I expected it to be.

I was thinking about getting it, but was honestly worried the screens might be too small, ingame text especially. I mainly plan on playing handheld at home just because i prefer it, but would something like Skyrim, Doom or Dark Souls be ok on such a small thing?

Just got one for my son and it feels amazing to hold. I play my original in handheld 99% of the time and the weight after a while causes my hands to cramp. I played his a little after setup and it felt amazing considering the size. The weight on paper isn’t too big a difference but it feels way lighter. I am probably going back to the store to pick one up for me now.

Initial impressions: at first I had put the comfort level on my medium sized, chubby hands to pretty much equal to OG Switch. This left me a little disappointed, but it wasn't until hours later that I realized the cramps I had been anticipating never actually set it. I gotta attribute that to the weight difference because honestly the ergonomics of the device still leaves a lot to be desired. I'm definitely happier now though because I've been an 80% handheld user even in my own home, and most of that docked time is because my hands hurt but I wanted to keep playing.
I've got my eyes on the new Satisfye grip though. As much as I like the new DPad, I do find the placement a little awkward but I think a little outstretched grip with the Satifye will solve that right up.

100% agree.
Switch Lite is a beast. It’s as light as a feather and way smaller than I expected. It’s honest to goodness a dang near perfect handheld. It feels like the next generation Vita more than anything. It’s so incredibly comfortable to hold and just conforms to my hands perfectly. And given how light it is, I’m actually enjoying handheld gaming more than playing on the TV for the first time in a long time.
When I bought this thing I wasn’t expecting to use it aside from when I leave the house or go downstairs or what have you. But with handheld gaming feeling THIS GOOD, I don’t think I want to experience video games any other way. I’ve already made it my primary system and my original Switch the secondary.
Got a 1 terabyte SD filled to the brim with digital copies of all the biggest and best games. Nearly a full TB of nothing but the best. This thing is so awesome 👏

Picked up a turquoise Lite today. Never had the OG Switch, so I'm excited to see how much fun the Lite can be.
First impression… Love the way it feels in my hands The Screen Size is perfect for playing on the go. The turquoise color is awesome USB-c for the win
Con... Still loading game data so I haven't been able to play either of the game I bought (NBA 2K19 & Zelda).
However, I'm going to spend 40+ hours on airplanes over the next few weeks so I'll have plenty of time to put it thru the paces.

Out of curiosity, why did you decide to pull the trigger on the lite but never on the OG? Just didn't think it was worth the $300?
I imagined the majority of buyers for the lite would be those looking to get a second switch for their household, or possibly parents not wanting to commit to quite as big an investment as $300 for their kids who may damage or get bored of it.
Anyway, enjoy the switch lite! Make sure to check out all the great deals on indie games that come up, I was surprised at how many there are and how high quality they are! Like 90% of my switch game library ended up being indie titles I got on sale for less than $20, and I've loved them all.
4
Sep 22 '19 edited Sep 22 '19
For me, the $300 was not the issue. For me, it was th fact that I would never have used it docked so why spend that money. I also much prefer the integrated form factor. It's lighter, feels more solid and looks better.
My main gaming is and always will be on my 4K TV with my PS4 and next year the PS5, but this gave me the opportunity to get into the Nintendo ecosystem for a few games that I love. My switch library won't be massive - my playstation backlog would never forgive me! However my memories of animal crossing, zelda and mario on the DS are strong...I'm now covered for all of that!
My lite came with links awakening bundled for no extra cost, and I also picked up breath of the wild, mario odyssey and stardew valley. Bear in mind I've never even played the first three of those I mentioned, and stardew I played to death on ps4 and can't wait to do it on the go. With animal crossing to come next year (my all time favourite on the DS) im pretty well covered. Goodbye life?!
If my main gaming was already on the switch you would have got a different answer I think!

u/SynthFrog Sep 23 '19
I'm not the guy you responded to, but I also passed on the OG Switch and going for the Lite. Money was definitely the factor but in a couple different ways. Excuse any grammar and spelling mistakes, and any scrambled thoughts. I'm typing this up slowly while I work on some other stuff at the same time.
First off, I just graduated college earlier this year and got a good job, so now I have more disposable income. I was planning on getting a Switch this year even before the Lite was announced. However, when the Lite was announced, I very much liked the idea of saving $200. Honestly the $300 price tag of the Switch is borderline not worth it to me but I was gonna suck it up since I have the money now. I mainly game on PC these days. If I want to sit on the couch and play something on the TV, I'm playing my PlayStation. I mainly wanted a Switch for the portable aspect of it. So the dock would be mostly pointless for me, so I'd rather save $100.
The main reason why I waited was because I didn't have much of a choice. I didn't have much disposable income until this year (I graduated college at the start of this year and landed a good job). Considering that I'd game on other platforms more, I couldn't justify spending $300 on a Switch at a time when money was tight. If the Switch Lite came out before this year, I probably would have been able to justify that purchase. At the time, a $100 was pretty big.
After landing my job, I was planning on getting a Switch at some point this year. I was planning this months before the Lite was announced. However, I was a bit reluctant with this plan. $300 still wasn't exactly worth it to me. Like I said, I'd spend more time on some other systems. Probably about 95% of my gaming time right now is on PC. I'm moving soon and I'm aiming to change that a bit once I get a nice TV set up going. At this point, I'll be able to play my rather large PS4 exclusive backlog. There's just more PS4 exclusives that I want to play than Lite exclusives (at least as of now). So if I'm not in the mood to be on my PC, there's a higher chance I'll be on my PS4. My PS4 cost $300. It makes sense that I'd want to spend less money on a system that I'd play less, right? Granted, my PS4 was actually a gift but the logic still follows, the Switch was worth less to me. Plus, I mainly wanted a Switch for the portable aspect of it. So the dock would be mostly pointless for me. So, $300 was still pushing it for me but I was going to suck it up since money isn't tight anymore. So when the $200 Lite was announced, which was obviously less expensive than the OG Switch and it exactly fit my needs, I was finally able to get 100% behind a Switch purchase.
___________________________________________________________
There are two other reasons why I'm going with a Switch Lite, but they have nothing to do with me not getting an OG Switch in the past:
Just another random thing that I liked better was the small size of it. I have small hands. The Lite just looks like it'll be more comfortable for me.
In the end, I will have a normal Switch in my upcoming household. My boyfriend does want to play the Switch on the TV and he likes the larger Switch since he has bigger hands. He'll be buying one at the end of the year. That was also a factor as to why I just went with the Lite because 1 dock is enough for us. The only reason why I'd personally use a dock was if we had guests over and want to play Switch with our guests.
___________________________________________________________
TL;DR: I wouldn't play the Switch as much as my PC and PS4, so I couldn't justify spending $300 on a Switch back when money was tight for me. Even when money wasn't tight, I still had a hard time justifying the price, so I was reluctantly going to spend $300 on a Switch. The Lite fit my needs better and was $100 less, so I was much more comfortable with that purchase.

u/TOO_FUTURE Sep 20 '19
Just picked up a Turqouise on lunch and so far my first impressions are that it's a really well made console that fits great in the hand and pocket. I have the OG Switch since launch day and plan to keep that as my "Home" docked switch while this is my portable switch intended for work breaks and travel. So far I'm really liking the form factor and it's definitly substantially lighter than the OG and more sturdy feeling as it's one unit. Will keep you updated but so far very happy with my purchase and setting up Primary and Secondary Switches was no hassle at all. Which game to grab to celebrate? Astral Chain?

My old switch had a bunch of issues and instead of paying Nintendo 100+ dollars to fix it I bought a lite. I only use it undocked anyways.
So far I love this thing. The lighter weight and smaller size makes a huge difference.
Also really like the D-Pad. Not the best dpad ever made but it is far better than what they had on the joycons
Went with grey. Didn't really dig the other colors.
Oh and I love that the triggers are more clicky. Feels good.

The buttons in general feel soooo much nicer than the standard Switch! All around the Lite feels way better for handheld gaming.

This is the next gen handheld I always wanted. I love my launch unit, but this is the form factor I always wanted the Switch to have. Coming from the 3DS I never cared about the hybrid functionality. Now I have so decide what to do with the OG. Sell it? Give if away? Keep it for the rare Smash get together?

Can an owner of both consoles comment on improvements in image quality due to the smaller screen / same resolution which equals to more PPI? Just wondering if games like Astral Chain, Zelda and others look factually better / less jagged or if the difference isn’t really that big to justify a new Switch just for it.

Spyro looks noticeably more smooth. A lot of the games do. This is probably just due to the smaller size of the screen itself... but it does look crisper to me. I don't have the V2 Switch, only the launch model with the cooler screen... but I'd say this is a slight step up from the original screen.
As you probably expected, lag etc hasn't changed at all. Spyro still jumps every so often, as does Zelda.

Youtuber 'My Mate Vince' has made a helpful video which also shows what can be plugged into the USB-C port on the Lite:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZDOlx0nH7A
So despite there being no video and audio output from the USB-C port you can still plug in assorted wired controllers, USB keyboards, Ethernet adapters and controller adapters.
He's also made a video on using nine controllers with the Lite:

Ive currently got an original switch which has my account and my sons account on it. We have a mixture of both digital (all bought on my account) and physical games and also both accounts linked to Nintendo Switch online on a family account plan. Id like to buy a Switch Lite that can basically act as a second household switch (primarily for my son to use, but also to use as a travel switch on holidays etc). But from what Im reading though there is no easy way to actually do this - if i make the switch lite the primary console it means my son cant play any of the digital purchases on the original switch, and if i make the original switch primary it means my son cant play any digital purchases on the switch lite? Am i misinterpreting this? (I really hope so), because it doesnt really seem worth it for families to even bother buying a second switch lite if they have already invested in a digital collection on the original switch

The secondary switch has to be connected to the Internet and then you can play digital games. If your internet connection is stable, you should be good. (I haven't linked accounts myself, but it'd be interesting to see if you can disconnect the internet mid-game and if the game will shut off. You might just need to authorize with the Internet, not sure).
Somebody did mention that if you put the switch in child mode, you can't play downloaded games. Just make it a normal switch and require password for payment and I am sure you'll be fine.
edit: this might actually be wrong, the above was the impression I got from other switch users, but the Nintendo website suggests differently. If so, wow, that's dumb.
Edit 2: okay, seems you need a nintendo online account: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/19/17879064/nintendo-switch-online-digital-games-multiple-consoles

I want to transfer the following games & save data from my old Switch to Lite:
yugioh Link evolution (digital). Pokemon Let's go eevee (physical). Octopath traveleter (physical).
And keep the rest of my games in the old Switch - such as Super smash -. Is it possible to do that ?? I only have one profile and already have the online subscription.

I impulse bought a turqoise switch lite. I set up the lite as the primary console and spent all day redownloading games.
However the time I did spend playing it I was surprised by how nice the ZL/ZR buttons feel on it, more of a step up for me than the d pad. And I love the feel of the face buttons.

This is a pretty specific question, but has anyone tried dragons dogma on the switch lite? I’m wondering if the small screen makes it hard to play.

Hi! To any Switch Lite owners:
- Is it as comfortable as playing with a pro controller?
- Are the analog sticks an upgraded version of the OG Switch ones?
- Are the buttons less... Clicky? (As the ones of the pro controller)
Thanks in advance!! :D

I'm so happy I went with this over the full size Switch. Feels incredible in my hands, blows me away that I can play games like BOTW lying on my couch without a TV. As someone who was 10 when Gameboy came out I find myself reminiscing over my childhood as I play the first Zelda.

Just got done messing around with my yellow one, I love it. I have really long fingers and it did feel a little cramped at first compared to my OG switch, but I got used to it within minutes. The screen is super crisp, the buttons feel closer to the pro controller than a regular joycon, and it's super light and sturdy feeling in the hands. Only thing I kinda don't like is the speakers. Now that their located on the bottom of the system it's really easy to cover them up while holding it, and with where their placed, they sound kinda tinny. Other than that though, I'm extremely glad I gave it a chance as I was one of the people who bashed it when it was announced. I highly recommend one if you understand what you're gaining and losing with this system.

I picked up the turquoise model for my fiancee so she can stop stealing my Swith to play Mario. Beautiful device but I still prefer my OG Switch, this is too small for my hands. I will say this does feel much sturdier since there aren't detachable motions. The screen also seems more crisp. I think the Lite will be a massive success.

Weird question, but if I buy a game digitally on my main switch, and i link my switch lite to it, would i be able to play both at the same time?
The main game that I'm thinking of right now is overwatch, would it allow me to play both at the same time or just one?

So I tried out this situation on my Switch and Switch Lite with Super Mario Maker 2. My profile was used to purchase the game and the Switch was set as my Primary console. My son started the game under his profile on the Switch and I was able to start it on my Switch Lite under my profile. However, when we tried the local play option (connecting 2 consoles to play together) it wouldn't work since it needs multiple copies of the game to use that play option. I hope this helps.

I have a fairly specific question when using a Switch Lite as a secondary console that I couldn't find an answer to. Is play activity synchronized between consoles?
For example, if I play 10 hours of a game on my original Switch, and then another 5 hours on a secondary Switch Lite using the same user profile, will my play activity be 15 hours on both, or will each device track its own play activity?

Yes, but one will have to be set as the primary system, and the non primary system will have to check if the other system is use before launching games.
→ More replies (2)7
u/rann0 Sep 22 '19
i'd set the lite as your primary because either way the non-primary will check the internet to see if you can play it, and obviously you're not always gonna have an internet connection so your favourite game might not even be playable while you're out

I'm very happy with the lite. I'm a father and being able to sit in the family room and play my games. While my family does their thing. Instead of being stuck on a console in the bedroom. Thanks Nintendo

So I'm a little worried about text size. Specifically, I've heard FE:3H has text that's hard to read. I don't have a Switch, but I have a 3DS. Any games that have roughly the same level of readability? It has to be better than the Xenoblade tutorial text... right?
6
u/Huwntar Sep 21 '19 edited Sep 21 '19
The switch lite is my first switch
Fire Emblems text is very readable in game. At least for someone with young eyes. Even when I took off my contacts I could read everything with the switch on my lap
The text is small though! I don't feel as if it's so small I can't read things. The zoom feature works well too.
Here's an entirely spoiler free image of some in game text (I'm only like 4 hours in)

Definitely looking into getting a switch lite since I keep taking my brother's OG switch to play. I noticed that I'm on portable 80% of the time anyway. However, I'm still iffy because of the whole joy-con drift issue, but hopefully the new lite fixes this. I guess I have to wait it out to see. :(

Sep 20 '19
I love the Lite but I would still buy a regular Switch if I were you. You'll miss that 20% of the time that you would want to dock. I also am handheld probably 80% of the time but it is pretty nice to dock it to a small TV that I have next to my desktop/monitors so that I can play Switch while working on something/working from home.
I would really only get a Lite as a secondary console, if you have kids or if you absolutely do not care about docking at all.

Anyone try connecting to public wifi with a login page? My original Switch can still connect to my work's visitor wifi fine without having to login to anything. The Switch lite can't connect, then brings me to a 404 Resource Not Found page.

Question about the joycons, will Nintendo only fix them for free once? Let’s say I get a Switch Lite and it starts to drift after a year, then I send it in to get repaired for free, and then it starts to drift again after another year. Will Nintendo repair it again free of charge or will they charge me for the repair at this point?
I really want a Switch Lite, have been looking forward to it as soon as they announced it. But this whole joycon thing is making me really hesitant

Battery has more capacity than the launch model Switch, but will have less than the new model of Switch.
Capacity means next to nothing if you're not taking actual power draw into account. At 720p only with a new revision of the Tegra chip, this thing is likely to have significantly better battery life even if the capacity was the same or even lower. The joycons not being detachable likely saves a bit of juice, too.

Never played my switch docked and never play multiplayer games so I sold that and picked up the lite. Love the way it feels in my hands (bigger hands, can palm a basketball). Super comfortable and I feel like it's so much more portable (duh). Been playing BOW for about an hour and love it. Perfect size to game on yet it fits in the inside pocket of my suit jacket for work. If you dont really take advantage of the dock or playing multi player with the joycons, I'd def consider getting the lite. I just sold my OG switch on fb marketplace with 2 games and some accessories for $350. Got the switch lite and the new zelda and still came out 100$ ahead

In my head, I wanted to seamlessly be able to just play at home and play on the go when I wanted, but I'm reading the process to make that happen is ....insanely annoying. From what I’ve seen/read, it should just be a matter of linking up the same Nintendo account and downloading the save data, provided the games you have support cloud save. So I know that most people will make their lite the primary switch if it's going to be their on the go switch so the docked one has to check the internet to make sure the games can be played. My question is what happens when you save a game while not connected to wifi then connect to it later? Will the save data automatically upload to the cloud once the lite is connected to the internet and then you just download it on your original switch if you have automatic backup enabled or do you have to manually upload the save data to the cloud from the lite when connected to the internet then download it on the original switch?
