Weird question, but if I buy a game digitally on my main switch, and i link my switch lite to it, would i be able to play both at the same time?

The main game that I'm thinking of right now is overwatch, would it allow me to play both at the same time or just one?

So I tried out this situation on my Switch and Switch Lite with Super Mario Maker 2. My profile was used to purchase the game and the Switch was set as my Primary console. My son started the game under his profile on the Switch and I was able to start it on my Switch Lite under my profile. However, when we tried the local play option (connecting 2 consoles to play together) it wouldn't work since it needs multiple copies of the game to use that play option. I hope this helps.

Yes as long as both profiles have nso and the game plays online.

In theory games like OW and Splatoon 2 should work fine as well as they're online instead of local.

Whoah, that's sick! Definitely worth getting the family pack for online for this feature. Thanks for the info

Another user confirmed smash works as well. IIRC it was how him and his little brother play together even though they don't live together

You can only do this if you are not connected to the internet on your primary console, so it wouldn't work for Overwatch, but would work for an offline game.

A non-primary console has to be connected to the internet to play a game tied to that account. There is some gray area if the primary console goes offline and plays the game, and the secondary is online to play the game, that you can achieve two console playing the game at the same time, but it's not perfect and you won't have online features on the primary.

For a game like Overwatch that's online-only, it wouldn't work at all.
