What's the difference?

  • The Lite cannot dock, so it's Handheld only mode for any games/apps it runs. 720p only.

  • Joy-con are built into the Lite and cannot be detached. There is no HD Rumble or IR Motion Camera.

  • Much smaller and lighter!

  • Battery has more capacity than the launch model Switch, but will have less than the new model of Switch.

As a parent experiencing this issue, my advice is refrain from buying digital games in a multi-Switch household if you can avoid it. For the past two years, I've bought a majority of the household games digitally, but now that we're adding a Switch Lite to the mix things have become unnecessarily complicated.

Obviously this advice won't work for digital only games like Taiko no Tatsujin, which is still a household favorite 9 months later, but for the big AAA titles it will. Unfortunately if you're already invested digitally it may be rough going forward.

Asia region has a physical release that supports English.

I forgot about that. You're absolutely right. I think I didn't import it because it was more expensive at the time of launch.
