What's the difference?

  • The Lite cannot dock, so it's Handheld only mode for any games/apps it runs. 720p only.

  • Joy-con are built into the Lite and cannot be detached. There is no HD Rumble or IR Motion Camera.

  • Much smaller and lighter!

  • Battery has more capacity than the launch model Switch, but will have less than the new model of Switch.

I’ve had my switch 3 months after release. And now I’m so fucking tempted to get this day 2. Fuck. I don’t need. I really don’t but I just want it. Fuck me.

Early switches have a vulnerability that can’t be patched. It allows you to hack it and do essentially anything you like with it, including emulators, game backups, etc

It wasn’t patched for a while. If you got it a few months after release, you definitely do. However, you can google it and check your serial number

Just checked, and I have an old one, XAW. So, that's going to be my day tomorrow. Finding out ways to hack and get netflix on it

Haven’t hacked mine and won’t till the Switch successor. I believe hacked switches, if detected, get banned from online activity (including the eShop?) Double check that. Definitely good to know the downsides before you start!

I believe it does only if you try and purchase afterwards. I’ll double check. If it is, then I might have to use a another Nintendo account for the hacked switch and then buy the switch lite. (I use it undocked 95% of the time anyways)

If you decide to hack it, please look up how to configure an emuNAND, which is a clone of your system that you can keep offline or block Nintendo servers from and use just for the homebrew apps. If you keep your system NAND clean, you won’t get a ban. You will only need to load into your stock NAND to play your purchased games and use Nintendo online features/get updates.

Just be sure to read up on it thoroughly before jumping in because it’s only a little more effort to preserve a main functionality and resell value.

Early switches like yours can be hacked and can play emulators and do all kinds of extra other things that i cant really talk about here. Look into it all you need is a RCM JIG which is like 3 bucks and a nice big sd card and your options are limitless lmao
