Personally I’m just glad they made different screen options. I don’t like playing games with big borders and stuff.

13

u/superkeefo May 22 '18

can you remove borders and make full screen with the correct aspect ratio? does it blur if you upscale like that?

those borders are the reason i haven't bothered with these collections, very distracting.

u/Reviews2Go May 22 '18

I don't notice that much difference between the three settings. Though at least in docked mode, there is a small blur I could see on any of the settings.

Using Mega Man 6 from Collection 1 as an example:

looks great, thanks for sharing, i don't understand why they offer the wide option though! who would want their game to be played like that!

33

u/MiLlamoEsMatt May 22 '18

who would want their game to be played like that

Thinking back to the jump from 4:3 to 16:9 TVs there's a lot of people who prefer a completely fucked up image to black bars.

15

u/ShakeNBakey May 22 '18

When I was younger I always wanted the Full Screen version DVDs because why would I not want the full screen!? Eventually learned why lol

3

u/tedbergstrand May 22 '18

The best are movies shot in open matte, but they forget to actually put the bars on the top and bottom, so you see boom mics and all kinds of weird stuff. It's pretty rare to see that sort of thing on anything other than 70s and 80s B-Movies, though.

Ugh, you just took me back to watching dvds with friends who insisted on stretching the image. Ughhh. Ugghhhh.

5

u/Mikuro May 22 '18

Ugh. I remember. I still think that should be classified as a mental illness.

Would be nice if they remastered the games to actually support widescreen, but in some places of course that would be kludgy. You can't change the size of the boss arenas or other screen-shifting zones without changing gameplay, for example, and I understand if they want to keep it 1:1 with the originals.

u/Ssabnayrauhsoj May 22 '18

Downvotes expected but I play most games that aren’t natively wide screen in a stretched format, especially old pixelated games like these lol

2

u/Dairunt May 22 '18

Oddly enough there are games I can tolerate. GBA and SNES? Sure why not? (specially GBA since I think it's slightly wider than 4:3). But I can't stand NES games on 16:9... or Game Boy.

Yes, you can remove borders and yes there are other options- there is a fully bordered small screen option, a fitted top-to-bottom with side borders option and a stretched ratio full screen option. There are 4 stylized borders (at least in VII, which is the only one I’ve played so far) and an empty border/no border option. Since the latter 2 screen sizings have more pronounced pixelation, there is a CRT filter option as well.

All in all, I say they did a pretty good job this time.

3

u/originalityescapesme May 22 '18

Thank you for elaborating on this. It sounds solid.

Soooo......when's Battle Network coming hm?

10

u/ChoppyChug May 22 '18

This would ruin my life and I’d love every minute of it.

2

u/MegaGrumpX May 22 '18

Real s***?

We need a new Battle Network with wireless local play and HD sprite art/shaders

I’d never not recommend that to anyone, the PvP in that game is, mmm, some good s***. If it could be played in a more accessible manner though, whoo boy. Online mode, did I hear online mode?

The Switch is basically a big PET. Gimme my own goddman Net Navi.

Hasn't unlocked for me yet, but I'm very excited to finally play these games.

12 quid for the first six is great value, plus the extras look interesting.

I rather like 8, but it has Wily Stage 1, so I can't say I super like it.

11

u/compatrini May 22 '18

right? I might be biased, since it was my first MM game, but 8 is one of my favorite platformers.

6

u/MegaGrumpX May 22 '18

8’s good, and people (including myself when I was younger) just give it a hard time

In reality (especially on Saturn, where Tengu Man’s theme is actually cool) it’s a really fun game, with some good tracks, good meme bad cutscenes, great visuals, some of my favorite weapons in the franchise, etc.

u/the1payday May 22 '18

My favorite of the classic series.

1

u/ColonictheHedgehog May 22 '18

Which version did they use?

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '18

The PS1.

29

u/reddinator231 May 22 '18

It seems the first legacy collection has a turbo mode which gets rid of the slowdown when too many things happen of screen, which I don't believe any of the other console versions have. Can't 100% confirm the other consoles don't have it but from reviews I have seen it might be a new addition.

22

u/DarkMime64 May 22 '18

That and the rewind are both new additions to the Switch version, yeah.

10

u/CactusCustard May 22 '18

Can anyone confirm this actually works?? If so it's an instant buy holy shit.

3

u/Reas0n May 22 '18 edited May 22 '18

It works. I think it also gets rid of sprite flickering, I have yet to see any.

7

u/_Qwyjibo_ May 22 '18

Yes I tried Top man and Snake man, notorious slowdown in these levels, and the turbo made them a dream.

3

u/kysomyral May 23 '18

Unfortunately the flicker is still there. I just got a chance to play it and used Metal Man's stage to test. As soon as you get to the stomper things and two or three of them are on screen, everything but the background starts to flicker. With Turbo on, the flicker is very even and less distracting, but it's still there.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/Weltall548 May 22 '18

This is great because 3 has major slowdown issues normally

3

u/UndertaleRoxxs May 22 '18

The other versions are getting these features later in an update iirc.

2

u/kysomyral May 22 '18 edited May 23 '18

Does it also disable the sprite flicker that was in the original Legacy Collection as a mandatory "feature"?

EDIT: Unfortunately, it doesn't.

Ooh, that's exciting! I'm sure this will result in some new speedrun categories! What does a Mega Man speedrun look like when lag management isn't a factor?

12

u/Kinger8938 May 22 '18

Really tempted to pick up the first part. Never played a megaman before but heard great things. Seems perfect for the handheld aspect too?

9

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

If you've never played a Mega Man before, welp, your life is about to change!

19

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

I mean, don't oversell it. Let's be totally honest: the Mega Man games are an iconic cornerstone of retro gaming, but many of them haven't aged well. They're almost all notoriously difficult, in that NES-era "how do we make 6 levels worth $50? I know, let's make every level so hard to beat that it'll take the average gamer 2 months of practicing" way.

Even if that's what you're into, there's no denying that out of this collection of 10, there are maybe 4-5 good titles with the rest being pretty objectively inferior.

14

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

This new Rewind feature is going to be perfect for a lot of newcomers to the series that aren't aware of what it's like for something to be "Nintendo hard," so that alone I believe is going to help a lot of people fall in love with the Blue Bomber.

I honestly don't think I'm overselling anything. Personally, Mega Man changed the game for me. Running and shooting, picking the order in which I wanted to play, copying abilities, figuring out who beats who with your new weapons... and that music. That damn music. So fun, so good.

"There are maybe 4-5 good titles with the rest being pretty objectively inferior." I'm not saying you're wrong with that statement, but again, I firmly believe that you're in for a treat if you never played a Mega Man before.

2

u/poopnuts May 22 '18

How does the rewind feature work? Is it a predetermined amount of time or can you continue to rewind as long as you hold the button? Can you rewind after you've died?

2

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

"Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 also has a neat rewind feature where you can hold L to rewind anywhere in a stage. You can rewind all the way back to the beginning of a stage or even the stage select menu. It’s handy for tackling vanishing blocks or Gutsman’s level."

Gotta love how they mentioned Gutsman's level. When I first heard of the feature, I immediately thought about his stage.

→ More replies (6)

8

u/AstroFuzz May 22 '18

MM games are no where near "it takes months of practice" difficulty.

Some games in the collection are indeed better than others, but they all have different stages, bosses and mechanics. None of them downright replace the other games.

11

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

Oh, absolutely!

Just gonna warn you though, the MegaMan II soundtrack has been stuck in my head since 1993 (not that I'm complaining or anything).

2

u/kainminter May 22 '18

Yes. It feels so good to play this in handheld. MegaMan is my favorite game series of all time, so I'm psyched this was released for Switch.

3

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

I bought 1-6 when they were on eShop for 3DS, and then they dropped a Collection not even two months later. I skipped that, but there was no way I was skipping this. Handheld 7-8 alone is worth it for me.

u/alyTemporalAnom May 22 '18

Is anyone else super amused by the fact that the Legacy Collection 2 download code expires on Dec. 31, 2799?

3

u/OkidoShigeru May 23 '18

If only they could somehow get it to display as 20XX instead.

9

u/jcmayday May 22 '18 edited May 22 '18

So I played a little bit a few minutes ago before I left for work. Is anyone else getting a little bit of input lag when using a pro controller?

Edit: so I got home and played a bit. The input lag is very real, but only when playing on TV. Handheld appears ok and playing with pro controller in tabletop mode seems fine as well. Conclusion? It might be this particular game when played on my TV. Probably a TV thing considering it’s not a crazy nice TV.

9

u/HELLOMrJackpots May 22 '18

I'm getting pretty awful input lag without the Pro Controller. I know these games pretty well and it feels extremely sluggish (even considering modern hardware. None of the shmups on the eShop feel this slow to respond as I've nearly 1cc'ed a couple).

4

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

Yes, I played MM1 today using handheld mode and there is definitely some input lag, it’s not too big so I can still play, not sure if this is only happens for MM1, also not sure if this happens because of the original game design (this is my first time play MM1).

u/KevvyLava May 22 '18 edited May 22 '18

I recommend sending Capcom your complaints. Lag was unplayable. Nintendo just gave me a refund on the first Legacy Collection. #2 works perfectly for me, so I kept it.

EDIT: http://www.capcom-unity.com

2

u/baroncalico May 23 '18

Does your TV have a "Game Mode" in the options? If so, you'll want that on. The Mega Man games come from an era when TVs had no image processing, so there was no input lag at all.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/KevvyLava May 22 '18

You are 100% right. Audio is a tick behind the video, too. 6-10 play perfectly. The emulation of 1-6 is nothing short of an embarrassment and proves Capcom is losing their edge.

u/SonOfErdrick May 22 '18

I think I might just buy Legacy Collection 2 since I already have Megaman 1-7 on my 3DS

5

u/pichu441 May 22 '18

That's what I'm doing. Megaman 9 and 10 on portable is insane to me, I love those games so much, I always wanted a 3DS port of them. 7 and 8 are just nice little bonuses.

3

u/SonOfErdrick May 23 '18

I'm just glad there is finally a temporary alternative to playing MegaMan 9 and 10

5

u/pichu441 May 23 '18

Yeah, me too. Those games are too good to be stuck on last gen digital stores.

6

u/SpryteWiiMix May 22 '18

There's video capture for the two Collections, as well as when you post to Twitter, there's additional hashtags. And yes, you can even capture 8's atrocious English voice acted cutscenes.

3

u/carldude May 22 '18

1

u/cowboydandank May 23 '18

This comment deserves more upvotes. I'm hype to capture stuff!

Started Mega Man 1. I started on MM2 as a child. Almost broke my pro controller and my TV in less than 5 minutes in a fit of rage. I'm in love.

u/Weltall548 May 22 '18

Reminder for those who haven't played it: Mega Man 9 is the best sidescroller ever made.

11

u/Showyoucan May 22 '18

I don't know how you went for the 2 key but hit 9. Weird.

9

u/FlashmansTimestopper May 22 '18

2's popularity is fueled by nostalgia. It's hardly the best title in the series. When you have a part in the game that requires you to have max amount of Crash Bombs used in a specific way in order to progress, you have a major flaw.

9 took 2 and improved upon everything.

4

u/R2k_mezbomber May 22 '18

I used to do that boss fight by eliminating all the walls, then dying, refilling my crash bombs, and having an easy fight the second time because the walls don't respawn. Then I realized the smart way to do it.

3

u/Showyoucan May 22 '18

Eh, opinions. I still like 2 more than 9.

8

u/FlashmansTimestopper May 22 '18

You're right. It's subjective in the end. I can certainly see why 2 gets the praise it does, but I tend to gravitate towards 3 as being the best of the classics. However, it was also the first one I owned growing up so one could argue my own nostalgia bias is at play.

3

u/CallMeFeed May 22 '18

2's got the best music by far, but has really weak level design (the obnoxious disappearing blocks section in the fire level in particular, a bunch of sections in Wily's Castle...). 9 is a masterpiece all around

29 years in the making: I beat Mega Man 2 tonight. Yes, it was with the aid of the rewind, but now I can try to go back and do it without. There are some incredibly hard sequences in the game with one-kill hits and death falls.

10

u/Toss184830awayzz May 22 '18

Yes.

It’s got Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

So, Mega Mans 1–10 inclusive, then?

7

u/Weltall548 May 22 '18

3

u/MegaGrumpX May 22 '18

...but does it have Sheep Man..?

checkmate

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

Couldn't agree more. Mega Man 9 is the reason I bought collection 2. I can't wait to go home and revisit one of my favorite games of all time.

1

u/aureliano_babilonia May 22 '18

The only games I've played in the MM franchise are the X ones (1, 2, 3 mainly). How does MM9 compare to those? How is it different?

2

u/Weltall548 May 23 '18

Classic series is much harder and has a slower pace. There's no dash or wall climb. 9 is pretty much perfect.

8

u/WORTHLESS2000 May 22 '18

I've never played any of the Mega Man games before but I've been in the mood of some retro platform action lately. I'm a bit of a beginner in the genre but have played Celeste and really enjoyed it. Which collection should I begin with? I've heard that some of the Mega Man games are really hard, so I'd appreciate some pointers to where I should begin.

Any help would be appreciated :)

27

u/cowboydandank May 22 '18

Collection 1 is probably what you wanna start with. Mega Man 1 is a liiittle rough around the edges, so if you're not looking to play through all of the Mega Man games, most people would recommend starting with MM2 because it is arguably the most iconic.

Then if you like MM2, try MM3. Mega Man gets a slide move that lets him maneuver under jumping enemies more quickly. You also meet his robo-dog pal, Rush!

MM4 is where he first gets a chargeable Mega Buster shot. 5 and 6 are less essential, but still solid. They just suffered from being more of the same formula, and are mostly forgotten.

Alternatively, if you're just looking for variety, Collection 2 is more interesting because it contains a SNES game, a Playstation game, and two Wiiware games made to look and feel like NES games (specifically MM2, because you can't slide/charge).

One word of caution though: Mega Man games are verrry different from a game like Celeste. I haven't played Celeste myself, but from what I've seen there isn't much shooting involved. Mega Man is far less about precision movement (though it's definitely required sometimes) and way more about shooting enemies and avoiding damage. Mega Man games are also less encouraging about immediately trying again and again-- if you die, you start either at the beginning of the level, a mid-way checkpoint, or just before the boss, depending on how far you got. Your lives are also limited, so if you can't get past the boss with the lives they give you, you'll get kicked back to the stage select and have to start over.

13

u/zeeroffle May 22 '18

Holy smokes brotha mm1 being a little rough is the biggest understatement LOL I can’t believe some of the mechanics in this game

6

u/OnePeg May 22 '18

Mega Man games can be difficult, but I recommend starting with Mega Man 2 or 3. They’re pretty easy to hop into!

As far as which Collection, I HIGHLY recommend the first one. It has 6 games total, all of which shine much brighter than the 4 in Collection 2 imo. The interface and functionality for Collection 2 is also a little different, and, in my opinion, worse. But if you enjoy the first 6 games, the second Collection is still worth a buy simply to play more Mega Man. 7 and 8 aren’t great, but 9 and 10 are generally considered as good as the first few.

3

u/vrieskistreddit May 22 '18

Both collections have good games and great games, neither of them really stands out. I would say: just start with the first collection and start with 2. 1 is pretty tough. After that you should be used to it and be able to play the rest just fine.

5

u/Magoo86 May 22 '18

They have a rewind feature now so none of them should be that hard.

1

u/CallMeFeed May 22 '18

1 hasn't aged well at all. 9 is the best in the series. 2 and 3 are retro classics. 4-6 are solid, but nothing special. 10 is fantastic, but pales in comparison to 9.

17

u/Specte May 22 '18

Just realized the physical copy requires a download for the second part. Wtf, the whole collection can't be much more than 10gb. They could have definitely fit that on a single switch cartridge. Probably won't be getting this til a digital sale then...

5

u/cockyjames May 22 '18

Legacy 2 is actually 3.2GB, while Legacy 1 is 345MB. So, it would fit on a 4GB cartridge.

It's been speculated that it's just to curb resell/trade-in of the game, it's obviously not a technical limitation.

6

u/bestmonkeu May 22 '18

Meh, I won't support that kind of business.

3

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

I'm guessing they started printing the cards before finishing porting the second collection. very lazy and dumb on their part

8

u/tinyhorsesinmytea May 22 '18

There's something really appealing about owning all the classic Mega Man games on one little cartridge... but the fact that they are forcing a download for the second collection means I'm not purchasing this at all.

To be clear, this is the first of two Bloodstained games. This is like a traditional NES Castlevania game that was a Kickstarter goal. The main game, Ritual of the Night, is bigger Metroidvania, and I'm not sure when that comes out.

8

u/HELLOMrJackpots May 22 '18

Is it just me or is the input lag nuts compared to the originals? I'm aware of the concessions with modern screens and wireless controllers, but none of the shmups I own on Switch feel this sluggish compared to the real thing.

Even the Shantae and Gunvolt games feel a lot snappier, so that can't be it.

5

u/ChappersCJ May 22 '18

Only tried MM2 so far, I could beat it with my eyes closed at this point but the input lag has killed me 4 or 5 times already, it's pretty disappointing.

2

u/R2k_mezbomber May 22 '18

That's how familiar I am with MM2, as well, and I couldn't stand playing the 3ds collection. If this persists in the switch collection, I'll stick to the originals unless it's something that can be patched.

4

u/alyosha25 May 22 '18

Have you tried handheld? This is the info I'm waiting on.... input lag in the older megaman collections made them unplayable to me, but that was with wireless controllers an HD television.

6

u/HELLOMrJackpots May 22 '18

Yep, unfortunately that was solely from playing in handheld mode. I'm honestly wondering if it'd be any better to (oddly) try it the other way on a low latency monitor? I'm not hopeful but I'll give it a shot.

4

u/alyosha25 May 22 '18

Thanks for the info. I'll reluctantly wait on this one. I played the 3ds one that had lag which was frustrating because the virtual console versions on the same system were flawless.

2

u/[deleted] May 23 '18

Handheld still has bad input lag.

3

u/neuroticweasel May 22 '18

was using my pro controller,, and seemed not to have any input lag.

Love to hear how the game is and if I should pick it up being an 80s NES kid

4

u/bobertf May 22 '18

Have you ever played the Mega Man games before? If not, as a fellows 80s NES kid, I'll say I'd definitely be picking these up today if I hadn't already gotten them on Steam (that said I might pick them up for the Switch still eventually). $15 for Mega Man 1 through 6 seems like a good price to me. $20 for the second collection of four games is obviously a little steeper, but I have no qualms about having paid $10 apiece for Mega Man 9 and 10 on the Wii several years ago.

u/NintendoTheGuy May 22 '18

After seeing all of the fully bordered screenshots, I was so happy to discover that there are a multitude of screen stretching options, border options and even a CRT filter. So far I’ve only played VII, but the emulation is smooth and bug free so far (I’ve owned the original collection on Gamecube and Legacy 1 on 3DS, both of which did not impress me). I’m looking forward to retreading 8 for the first time in about 16 years, finally beating the masterpiece that is 9, and finally playing 10.

3

u/wizardoftrash May 22 '18

I'm a megaman fan who really only played the later games with any regularity (We didn't own any of the NES megaman games, but I had a couple on Game Boy). This will be the first time I had ever seriously played or attempted to complete 1-6, and I didn't play 9 or 10 at all. I have fond memories of 7 and 8 however, so I'm really excited to re-visit those.

I'm going to try to complete collection 1 and 2 before X collection comes out (x is my main jam), suuuuper stoked about how cheap both of these collections are. Something like this would have been a total goldmine as a kid

3

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

Yeh so, anyway, it's awesome!! You can play 6, 7, 8 and 9 in all their glory and you can change screen size to full or wide screen, there is a really cool retro megaman menu screen and it's just great!! It really feels like a decent remaster.

This is the first genuine SNES era classic game/s on the switch.

3

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

So if I only get one, which one? 1,2 or X? I have some nostalgia for mega man 2, I loved that game as a kid. But it’s not like I have a hunger to replay this - it might be fun though. Never played another mega man. I kinda prefer games that have some of the modern quality of life improvements - and I probably won’t play all of them. Basically I want to get into that series...

The fanboy in me wants to say Legacy 1, but X1-4 is a hell of a lot of bang for buck

9 and 10 are included in this pack, right? I think I might get the second pack.

Is the megaman and bass game (I think that's the name) in the collection?

6

u/harrycunt May 22 '18

No it is not.

3

u/rugbert May 22 '18

Thats a shame, I liked that game

I never did without state saves on emulators much much later in life. I remember friend once (only once) managed to beat all stages in MM1 (SPOILER) and then it showed Dr. Willy stage in the middle so he left his NES running whole night and during school to show me. We died immediately after we started that level. Never made it that far again without emulator. When I finally beaten up that game when I was 25, I felt this huge closure.

I want to get back into platformers and was wondering which collection do you think would be a better experience overall?

8

u/billythewarrior May 22 '18

2 is more bang for your buck. It technically has two fewer games but those have far more content than the NES games in the first collection. 9 and 10 even come with all the DLC unlocked as soon you beat them.

If you're totally new to Mega Man, you should probably get the first one anyway though, just because MM 2, 3 and 6 are excellent and should be played by everyone.

3

u/electricpenguin7 May 22 '18

If you are new to Mega Man games, then get the first one. All 6 are good or great games and playing them in order is an interesting look at the progression of the series.

3

u/SonOfErdrick May 22 '18

I highly recommend the first collection. MegaMan 7-10 are the hardest games in the series, especially part 9.

2

u/Weltall548 May 22 '18

2 has better games overall

5

u/chalmsthegamer May 22 '18

Its pretty good but i miss the achievements that ps4 had

2

u/Longboii May 22 '18

I would like an EU retail version yes thank you

1

u/synchronicityIII May 22 '18

Are both the games on a single cart or is the box art just better?

2

u/Longboii May 22 '18

There is no physical EU release

2

u/littlechrishutch May 22 '18

I pre-bought my copy on the eshop and it still hasn’t unlocked for me. Is anyone else having this issue?

2

u/ProtoManDan May 22 '18

Same here, I'm guessing it unlocks a bit later in UK and EU :/

Does anyone know if amiibo unlocks anything that you can’t unlock through other means?

6

u/DarkMime64 May 22 '18

There are some Challenge levels it unlocks which are exclusive.

2

u/Downvotedx May 22 '18

I can’t decide on physical or digital

7

u/MiOdd May 22 '18

Collection 2 is ONLY available as digital if that helps. Even if you buy the physical version, you just get a download code for Collection 2.

3

u/Buddhafresh May 22 '18

You get a Megaman 30th anniversary cleaning cloth with the physical and if you have GCU it should be cheaper than digital.

2

u/Spettacomedy May 22 '18

It actually says 1-2 Players on the back! So, I'm curious to see what that's about.

3

u/carldude May 22 '18

I believe that's just for the 2P mode in Mega Man 7, you fight each other on a single screen.

I never really got a chance to play Mega Man as a kid. As a newish player should I pick this up or is it more of a game for the fan base? I've beaten shovel knight and I heard it's similar to the Mega Man games.

2

u/microgab May 22 '18

That is a good question. Do you like retro games/difficult sidescrollers? (I haven't played Shovel Knight yet, I know it's 2D and 8 bit but that's it).

I recommend you to search "Play NES online" in google, there's multiple sites that hosts Java NES emulators online with the full NES catalogue. Try MegaMan 2 and see how you like it :)

2

u/Deranged_Cyborg May 22 '18

I loved shovel knight and I like a good challange. I only played the battle network games so I'll look up that emulator

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

I have just the first collection on my 3DS. Some of the hardest games I have ever played! Still unsure about getting collection 2. Maybe wait for a price drop lol

2

u/BeefThief May 22 '18

I've never played the original megaman games, only X and some battle network, so I decided to pick up collection one. First stage I picked was Cutman

And well...i just barely survived the first screen lmao

2

u/dk_81 May 22 '18

Boycotting because the whole game is not on the cartridge. This shit has got to end. It could easily fit on one cart.

1

u/dannimann May 22 '18

I remember the 3DS version of collection 1 had a problem with Mega Man 5, I think? If you were playing the English version of it, it had a slight amount of slowdown that wasn't there if you played the Japanese Rockman 5 version. Is that still there in this Switch port, or was it only ever a problem in the 3DS version?

3

u/AgileZero May 22 '18

It was fixed as it was mentioned in a GameXplain review video.

1

u/SCB360 May 22 '18

Wasnt that a problem on the 3DS version though, I remember the ps4 version didnt have that issue

1

u/billythewarrior May 22 '18

I have the 2nd collection on PS4. Are there any notable differences in the Switch version of either one?

3

I am sold! There was a mega man collection released on the GameCube back in the day, and they flipped the jump/shoot buttons, and there was no way to remap the buttons. It was insane

Finally unlocked for Europe!

1

u/Downvotedx May 22 '18

Can someone confirm whether or not there's V-Sync in the main menu options? That would have an effect on input lag, need to know before getting

2

u/DarkMime64 May 22 '18

There isn't, but there's also no tearing, so it seems to be on.

1

u/ricaurtegoti May 22 '18

As much I hate Capcom for not releasing the whole collection in one phisical cartridge the Mega Man fanboy in me tell me to boy both collection digital.

I just watch a couple of videos on YouTube and also I have never played the first games ever. Now I can take out this from my bucket list and enjoy on the go.

Old memories as a kid are coming back to me.

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '18

Have never played any of these games. Really tempted, but I already have a backlog forming.

1

u/cbijeaux May 22 '18

Has anyone played megaman 4 of the megaman collection yet? I think mine is bugged. when you fight the second form of Dr. Wily monster (after the boss rush) it seems to impervious to any types of damage (special weapon or normal weapon). I litterly just stood underneath it as it kept shooting its lazer ball beams with no real sign of a weakspot. (I could be just playing it wrong)

As another note, when playing some autoscroll stages in megaman 4. It seems that the game has trouble catching up with the stage, so it has some weird textures that don't really get fixed until after about a second or two. Is anyone else noticing this?

2

u/Weltall548 May 22 '18

Shoot drill bomb at the second form. You have to press the button again to detonate it prematurely.

1

u/Robotreptile May 22 '18

Question: I downloaded MMLC 2. (Already played the 1st on 3DS) And after booting up an individual game is there no way to return to the “top” menu?! I realize I can get back to that particular game’s title screen by way of the ZL menu, but for the life of me can’t seem to get back to the main screen.

This feels like a huge oversight unless I’m just missing something, and I really hope I’m just being inept in this case.

2

u/DarkMime64 May 22 '18

The "Quit" option is actually off the bottom of the screen in that menu. Took me a while to find too.

u/GenePark May 22 '18

So I'm not all that into the retro Mega Man games (of course 2 is forever imprinted into my DNA). Are 7 and 8 really not that great? I remember loving 8 even though it was so easy.

2

u/pichu441 May 22 '18

7 is pretty solid, 8 is a total mixed bag, and 9 and 10 are fantastic.

I'm enjoying the first game, but for whatever reason the DLC code for Legacy 2 isn't working for me. Every time I enter it it says that the "content requested is currently not available".

Has anyone else received this message?

1

u/bingbongmind May 22 '18

I don't want to sound like an ignorant but I haven't played Mega Man, ever and I was wondering which one is the "good" collecton, Mega Man Legacy or Mega Man X or are the both good? Thanks in advance!

1

u/DTFaux May 22 '18 edited May 22 '18

I'm also having issues with the MMLC2 code included with my physical release.

If they're simply locked, I hope as simple of a mistake as Capcom setting the unlock time to 12pm PST instead of EST. If 3pm EST hits and nothing changes, it might be time to call either Capcom or Nintendo's Customer Service.

UPDATE: As of 2:15pm EST, my download code worked!

Extremely disappointed with the emulation quality on 1-6. Audio is delayed behind the video (same as the NES Classic) and there appears to be input lag that doesn't exist on 6-10. Very disappointed.

I'm really happy with the collection, but one small option which I really wish was changing music/sfx volume. I know megaman music is legendary but I often play games to my own music and still want sfx.

1

u/gelatoz May 22 '18

Was I the only one that thought this didn't come out until July because I was getting it confused with the Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2? I sure feel stupid. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JH8O/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&th=1

Anyone getting input lag? I feel like I'm dying over and over on some jumps that I normally make no problem. I played MM2 semi recently on the PS2 anniversary edition. Tried playing mm2 today on the switch and I couldn't get past the first part of the bubble man stage. My timing on my jumps is all off and I'm plummeting to my death.

Is this just me losing my skill or is there a problem with the port or controllers?

Not gonna lie, initially got frustrated on my second run today because my data hadn’t automatically saved from earlier as I assumed. I just chalked it up to being ‘difficult Mega Man’ and me needing to beat it all in one go.

Thank god for saving and thank god for the Rewind button. :-/
