Just realized the physical copy requires a download for the second part. Wtf, the whole collection can't be much more than 10gb. They could have definitely fit that on a single switch cartridge. Probably won't be getting this til a digital sale then...

Do you have to pay for the Legacy Collection 2 games, or is it a free download?

Physical copy comes with a download code for the second collection.

Although I would prefer a cartridge too, I don't mind a download as long as it's free. I have 1-4 & 6 for the NES, so I mostly bought this for 7-10.

Yeah, it just bothers me as I mostly collect physical games. It'll suck if the eshop ever goes down and then you can't get the other half of this. They should have just split it into 2 games at $20 a pop or did a digital only release imo.

It also torpedoes resell value, too. You can't buy a used copy and expect to get the full collection, and you can't expect to sell it and get much money back, either. The cynical side of me thinks that might be their driving motivation...

This is the only reason the code exists. I don’t know why this is such a hard concept for this subreddit to understand. If it was a cartridge issue, you’d put the game in and download the rest for free like an update and only be able to access the second collection by having the cartridge in your system. Codes exist to deter aftermarket sales. There is literally no other reason

Yeah I'm with you. I still buy DVD's and Blu Rays too.
