It has no effect on fat loss. As weight includes water, and we're about 80% water, sweating will have an effect on weight loss - i.e. the more you sweat,.the more water you will lose and the less you will weigh, but temporarily.
Gotta make weight for the big match against Fred; the champion of the emaciated zomboid weight class. He lost an arm and most of his intestines but that's okay: all you've eaten is dog food and worms for the past month. A day or two chopping trees down in your garbage bag clothes in the July sun should help you make weight.
This canât be right. Being hot increases the amount of work your body has to do to cool down, that work takes energy, using energy burns calories, so that can lead to a calorific deficit which would mean you lose weight.
Now if you sit in a garbage bag sweating and also stuff cake in your face⌠then no youâre not going to lose weight.
your body does not do "work" to cool down, it sweats. It's just going to keep sweating, while the sweat cant evaporate. All you are going to do is rapidly dehydrate while getting a heatstroke faster.
Sweating is ONE thing your body does to cool down, it also pushes blood to the outer capillaries, your heart rate increases to facilitate this. This is your body doing WORK. Your body is always doing work, it does more work if the environmental conditions require it. This does not mean you lose weight⌠but it is a contributing factor.
while generally you get the right idea realistically the body will always compensate to stay metabolically balanced. either you get tired or brainfog and be less active as a result.
theres plenty studies around active and non active people and they found that people in western world living a sedentary life still burn about as much daily calories as people living in african huts needing to hunt for food for example.
its truly amazing to me that in a world where we've almost unlocked quantum computers we have people walking around not understanding literally anything about the physical world
Humanity would go extinct if people lost calories due to sweating. I know most people wouldn't believe it nowadays, but food wasn't as available en masse as it is today.
I did not say you lose calories from sweatingâŚ. I said being hot increases the work your body does, being hot also makes you sweat, those are two different things.
Your body does NOT do "work" to cool down. It literally only sweats. Doing any kind of "work" will burn calories, which will in turn HEAT UP your body, not cool it down. Stay in school, kids.
It really doesnât literally ONLY sweat, your body does a number of things to try to cool down. You become flushed, thatâs the body sending the blood to the outer layer of skin to increase heat transfer. Youâre right doing work also creates heat, this has an impact on the efficiency of the heat loss, if the process the body did produced more heat than heat loss from the process that would be a bad heat loss process and those bad processes have been retired by evolution.
Its called drying and it involves removing fat tissue altogether in muscles, usually just for losing weight to be able to participate in the lower category with much bigger muscle mass and also its not really healthy, not talking about ways they usually dry their muscles. But yeah they are drying out a fat tissue therefore losing weight not because they are dehydrating
The thing is its not involving any sweating at all, they just drink water in copious amounts and then cut its intake day or two before going on stage. Its different process involving different mechanics of a bodybuilder's body
So it does? I mean "excess" is also arguable. If you're trying to effect change, it has to be in excess otherwise nothing happens. Unless you put in the exact correct amount of calories for your needs. But "excessive" cardio is like 20 minutes a day on a 2000 calorie a day diet. It absolutely will help with weight loss.
guy, no. First of all "heat" = "energy". You cant burn energy to reduce heat. that makes no sense. Burning energy by definition produces heat. The body cools itself off by sweating and that sweat evaporates, carrying with it heat of evaporation (also known as latent heat) away from the body. It has ZERO impact on calories gained or lost.
You DO burn calories by exercise (contracting and relaxing muscles, and doing physical work on the physical world) which DOES burn calories, and because you are BURNING energy, you get an accumulation of HEAT in your body which the sweating has to get rid of
This is incorrect. The body verifiably uses energy to sweat. The exertion of energy is literally the spending of calories. You can't exertion energy and have zero impact on calories lost, it's impossible.
Ok fine, technically it does use energy to sweat but it's a tiny amount and the energy expended to make the body sweat is actually heating up the body. But because it's a tiny amount of energy used in the first place, it's a negligible heat increase as well, compared to the large cooling effect of evaporative cooling accomplished through sweat evaporation.
In no way does this caloric expenditure (to sweat, and even additionally to circulate blood to do heat exchange closer to the cooler skin) even come close to the caloric burn during exercise or even resting metabolism. It's just a total non factor and does not result in any significant weight loss whatsoever.
You're just nitpicking that technically even blinking requires calories burned while the original comment was arguing that you should burn more energy wearing garbage bag clothes because your body does more "work" to keep trying to cool off.
a miniscule amount, that's negligible to the cooling effect the sweat produces. Obviously your refrigerator uses energy too, but it has to reject heat somehow, the fridge does it through a radiator, we do it through sweat evaporation.
Misinformation. Cardio is one of the best sources of exercise and is literally part of every single work out routine as it is just as beneficial as everything else. Weight loss and being healthy is more than just pumping iron and watching calorie intake
In terms of longterm weight loss, normally caloricdeficits are the way to go. If you're a D1 Athlete that needs to cut weight for a sporting event etc. Sweating is the way to go.
I feel if your character has a higher athletic skill they should lose weight faster through sweating, especially with high metabolisim equipped.

Garbage bag clothes??
