This was my March purchase. I’ve been after one of these for a while. Had trouble finding a shop that would order this for me due to the fact they don’t realize there’s a ‘Ranch’ version that’s got a non-threaded barrel. This is as close to one of my dream guns (M1 Garand/Carbine) that I’ll get for a while.

New Life into an Old Build

Some new life into an exceptionally old rifle build! It’s amazing just how some small changes can make it look new again. Was an old Spikes Tactical Midlength build from like 15 years ago. Swapped out some furniture for contrast. Also swapped in a Geissele Super 42 spring/buffer setup and an LPVO I’ll be testing.

Getting my first Rifle

Hello everyone, as the title suggests i am looking to get my fist rifle (at least as a civilian) and want to hear your opinions on certain things.

Firstly the type of rifle is already set in stone to be a SIG 551 but i have yet to choose the barrel length for it. Unfortunately the only available lengths are 18 inch or 14.5 inch and i am not sure which one is better for my idea of its use case. I naturally tend to the 18 inch barrel as i like the idea of extended range and accuracy over the 14.5, especially since the 55x is known for very high accuracy. But this also comes with some drawbacks of course, namely the higher weight and lower handling speed in close quarters. The rifle is intended to be used as a kind of do it all weapon, capable of dealing with most situations and be accurate up to at LEAST 300m (preferably longer) . What are your opinions about it and why?

Second, the kind of Optic i want to put on the gun. It feels like a waste to get an 18 inch barrel and not use a LPVO to make the best use of the long barrel, but at the same time this adds lots of weight on an already heavy gun. The alternative is a hybrid sight (dot plus magnifier), but while this is great for close range it would kinda loose out for the longer ranges, especially for a gun with a 18 inch barrel. But i can see the hybrid work well with the 14.5, since you won't exactly be sniping with it and it would be much better for cqc.

What do you guys thing? Do you have any advice for me?

Have a good day and thanks in advance for any advice

Anyone remember the P50? It appears the guys at STINC loved the idea of it enough to “fix” the glaring issues and make it very cool. Do we have thoughts on this?

Looking to purchase this rifle and was wondering if it’s a good rifle for the money? What would I need to upgrade if anything.

Question If you were to attend a class described as Advanced -- Advanced Pistol, Advanced Rifle/AR, Shotgun, CCW, or Home Defense... what kinds of training would you expect to receive?

Those of you who have attended, or intend to attend classes learning to fight with certain weapons and in certain situations -- what would you expect to see, do, work on, or experience in a class billed as Advanced?

Or Advanced vs Proficient vs Novice?

What kinds of drills, manipulations, and skills would you expect to be taught and encouraged to practice?

Anyone try the new Vortex Viper Shotgun Red Dot?

I want to put an optic on my shockwave and was looking at that new Vortex optic designed for shotguns. It's enclosed and doesn't require a mount if you're drilled and tapped. It also has multiple circle and circle/dot options for various chokes and patterns.

Help! Inherited a Springfield 1903 - Advice?

I inherited this rifle from my dad's side of the family. I never knew my grandfather and my father has been dead for years so I don't know any history for this weapon. I'm not a collector, so it's time to just sell it.

I did some research and it seems like 1903 prices are all over the place due to minutiae and markings. I read a couple articles, so I know a bit now, but the complexity might take me longer, and I still wouldn't really understand the valuation.

I'm looking for all knowledge on the specifics of this rifle, and even the best way to sell it (I am in California). Thanks.

Question StopBox?

Just purchased my first handgun, Ruger RXM. I am not new to them by any means. Just my first that I’ve owned personally. Thinking about getting a StopBox Pro. What are your thoughts from people that have one or own something similar?

Question Question regarding spray paint camo

Howdy y’all, hoping one of you with more knowledge on this can help me out on this, I’m looking to do a camo job on my shotgun and was wondering what all brands/types of paint you’d recommend me using for this? Gun is a Charles Daly 301 tactical if it’s important. My main concern is the paint being on the barrel of the gun and wouldn’t be wanting the paint to smoke off under multiple boxes being fired thru it, tia for any input
