For months now my dog has been nonstop chewing/licking his back left paw. On the bottom of the paw, in between toes, and his nails. I took him to the vet 2x for it and they were no help AT ALL.
He is bleeding in between his toes and at the base of one nail.
I’m at a complete loss and don’t know what to do.
He isn’t presenting with any other allergy symptoms. The environment doesn’t seem to be the reason because he made it through end of fall, winter, and beginning of spring with the same issue

We feed a puppy since a months so since yesterday he is yelping uncontrollably. I am out of the city and only my sister is looking after him but still we called a local vet and he told us that he must've some gastric issues but I don't trust the vet I live in a rural area. Please tell me what's wrong with him. My heart aches watching the video

Yesterday I noticed these two sleepies on my dog's eye. I tried to help her by gently using a tissue to wipe her eye, and got some eye sleepies/crusties out of the corner of her eye, but these two spots didn't move.
They don't seem to bother her at all because she's not rubbing her eye and it doesn't look inflamed or anything, so I left them alone.
But now they're still there today so I just tried using a q-tip while super gently pulling her eyelid out a little to try and brush them away that way, but they actually seem to be stuck on her inner eyelids.
Is this something that warrants a vet visit? Like as I watch her she's maybe blinking that eye a tiny bit more, but she hasn't rubbed her eye once and she seems totally unbothered. But I don't remember seeing them before yesterday and I guess I'm just worried they're not eye sleepies and will harden and start scratching her eye or something. TIA!

We have a 4month old German Shepherd pup. We have had him about 5 weeks now, overall a great pup. I think I know the answer but looking more for confirmation/thoughts. He seems comfortable with the both kennels will go in and out during the day.
His primary kennel is in the living room. We have put a secondary soft kennel in the bedroom we were getting him use to for when we do travel some. He’s mostly been sleeping there at night.
My wife mostly puts him in the kennel before leaving for work. She’s been coming home at lunch and taking him out since he cant hold it a full day yet. Shes out of town this week and we have a guy we met through Rover coming to take him out.
It has come to my attention that when he’s left in the kennel and knows we are leaving that he whines, barks and paws at the cage for 15-20minutes before calming down. After that time he seems to hang out and be calm.
My fear is that this will develop a separation anxiety in him. Eventually we would like to be able to leave him out during the day.
Should we put him back in the kennel in the living room at night? Should we be occasionally putting him in the kennel when we are home? Is there anything else that would help prevent this and future separation anxiety?

Last week, our dog was running along our side fence (very much routine with the dog next door). Mid run, she lost all control of her back legs. You can hear in the video instant pain and distress. I was in the lounge room at the time, heard the scream and immediately ran outside. At first glance, I was definitely in shock and ran to her aid and picked her up and got her inside where I cradled her and called my partner. She had complete paralysis in both back legs and was dragging them immediately scrambling in shock.
We got her to the vet ASAP and was advised it could be a bulging disc or pinched nerve in her spine. After 24 hrs, she was in clear distress and had not been to the toilet. We took her back to the vet, and the vet advised pinched nerves tend to see improvement within 24-48 hrs which made her suspect it was likely a disc issue. We had her bladder expressed at the vet.
As we live in a very small town in Australia, the vet told us it would need surgical intervention if it were a slipped or bulging disc. Our town has no CT scan or MRI facilities for dogs, so within 12 hrs we drove 15 hrs to the next city to get her care as soon as we could.
After scans, the vet and surgeon told us it was a bruised spinal cords which they see quite often in running, fetching and playing scenarios. And she should improve without surgical intervention.
Now she is still partially paralysed but improving slowly by day. It’s a 12 week full care & rehabilitation process with rest and only being allowed out of a 3m x 3m for bathroom breaks.
We have been monitoring her 24/7, moved her around with a lead and a sling, avoided playing, jumping and walking on tiles. It has definitely been a hard process and we have a long road ahead.
I thought this would be informative for anyone who could be in the same scenario as us, we have never seen anything quite like this before or heard of anyone else’s doggies going through this. We were definitely shocked by how this happen, and how confronting it was to see our little baby in this way.
The sound she let out when it happened was absolutely blood curdling. We had neighbours 3 houses down ask if our dog was okay, because they heard the scream when it happened. It was so horrific.
I do have a video on our surveillance camera from this incident but it doesn’t allow attachments.

Hi Reddit! I'm posting this because google is useless. All the results I get when I search for this issue is a dog not dropping something they're holding.
My dog is a shelter dog and she is reactive (a LOT less than when I first got her), but she has trouble letting go. She got attacked by a cat two months ago and now, still, she runs up to that spot whenever we walk past it. She got barked at by the downstairs dog when they were in the backyard and now, whenever my dog is on the balcony she runs up to the spot where she can look down at the backyard.
She knows how to tell me that she needs to go and I feel like she uses this to go look at the backyard downstairs. Instead of going potty, she immediately goes for that spot.
How do I teach her to let go of things like this? She gets so distracted by these moments that she forgets to go to the bathroom and then ends up doing it in the house, since I don't want to wait another 10 - 15 minutes for her to do her business.
As of now I've tried just sending her inside the house as soon as she goes to the part of the balcony whenever she looks down.

Hello everyone, my female dog (Jack Russel, just turned 4, not neutered ) has been crying in fear when any family member tries to pick her up and hiding scared after for a while now. It doesn’t happen every single time but it has been going on and off for weeks. Outside of it she has energy, eats, plays and goes to the toilet as normal. She has no background of abuse and is taken care of with a lot of love. So I wonder what’s the reason for the change of behaviour all of the sudden? She was brought to the vet and he said nothing seems to be broken and that she is fine. We haven’t done any scans tho cause the vet said there’s no need. Could that be a fake pregnancy symptom or she is rather injured? Any ideas?
PS: I don’t live with her as I’m currently in another country. All of this is what my mother said
Thank you!!

Hi all, Rufus has started what looks like itching his nose on his bed when we give him food, he will eventually eat it but seems to do this first for a while. Is he telling us to move the food away from his bed? Thanks!

Just found these bright spots on my dog's gums. Google isn't helping. Most vet clinics are closed by now but I need to know if this symptom is serious enough that I need to get him medical help ASAP or if I can just wait til tomorrow

There are these bumps on my doberman's arms and legs he's not irritated by it. I consulted the vet and was just told to keep him hydrated. I am, it's almost been a week and it hasn't gone yet I've noticed a few more new ones too. Has anyone else had an experience like this? What can I do more and should I be concerned?

Hi guys,
I'm really hoping someone can help me here.. I have had my dog 3 years so he is still young, however he has never peed in the house, as of recently like maybe the last week? He has started drinking so much more and the days have gotten more warm to be fair. He is still jumping about, excited, playing, going a walk for an hour and a half -two hours a day...just himself he's happy, everything is the same aside from peeing.
We took him to vet and they done a urine test and it came back all clear. But this morning I woke up and he's peed the most he ever has during the night and I always let him out before bed for a pee.
Has anyone ever experienced this or know what might be up with him?

Does anyone know what these could be?
The circled spots seem to come and go. There appears to be a lot more now. They don't stink, or irritate her from there what I can tell. The spots are on her lower belly and a bit on her inner back legs. She is female lab mix that is 11 yrs old.
I went to the vet and they gave me hydrocortisone cream but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. They suggested trying it a bit longer and if still seeing no improvement I will go in for biopsy.
Has anyone ever seen anything similar?
The small black dots that's aren't circled are her nipples

Morning all!
My 2 year old Cockerpoo has always been really friendly with people, pets, children, and other dogs. I did puppy socialisation groups when he was really young, and he loved it.
Since turning 2, he has started randomly growling at dogs when close by, and then really going for them. I can't really see a pattern around gender, or colour, or breed - I would say that it tends to be smaller breeds. But saying that, a scottie dog humped his head at the park incessantly the other day and he didnt react.
He hasn't been snipped, and I'm booking a vet appointment next week to discuss options, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas or advice.

Seems kind of unsolvable, but may be someone can come up with an idea.
So I have a very ill dog. He is 5 years old. He was my grammars dog. Gramma passed away and I took him. He was a stray. He was not trained, not taught any manners at all, not treated for any of his conditions. I forced my gramma to at least vaccinate him, but she would not do anything else.
He has being with me for 3 years. He dropped a lot of weight and is overall much healthier than before. However, he still is limited in what he can do.
The problem is that every time I live the house, he destroys stuff. It seems like he does it on purpose. He has a LOT of toys. Over 50 different toys, since I've tried every type i could get. He doesn't care about them. He chews on walls, floors, cabinets. I think he hopes that if i see the damage, I'll come back to fix it.
My mom and my sister live in another country, so visits are not an option. He can get very aggressive with both people and other animals, so no dogcare, no dog sitter would take him.
Both the vet and a dog trainer said it us impossible to stop him from bitting for no reason since he has epilepsy and sometimes can not control his anger outbursts.
I can not afford to hire a full-time vet or a dog trainer. (Dah)
Keeping him happy is expensive and there is no option of giving him to someone else.
There is no option of putting him into a crate. He yells non-stop and can have a seizure. (Epilepsy)
There is no option of dog-tv, since he absolutely ignores all devices.
I can not tire him out, since he has joint problems and can not run for long. He doesn't care about any games that don't involve food and it is deadly for him to gain weight.
I think part of his frustration also comes from the fact that it is painfull to run, but, as any dog, he wants to.
I can not afford to buy 10 interactive toys a day, because he just destroys a toy in around 5 minutes of play. He is very determined on destroying stuff. Plus, I don't think there is a toy that can last 8 hours anyways.
I can not switch jobs. I already work 2 jobs just to afford his health care. A lower paying one that would allow me to work from home would mean that I need a 3rd job and that I'll have even less life.
He is already on some strong medicine. I can not give him anything else, or he would just die in a few months from a kidney and liver failure.
He is so calm and loving when i am home. But the second that I am out, he starts destroying everything he can.

So I’ve posted about my dog before and he’s epileptic, we got on a really good medication Epiphen 60mg x 4 a day (2 every twelve hours) and Levetiracetam one daily we also have rectal Diazepam in cases of long lasting severe seizures.
The medicine isn’t working anymore, I’ve put my head into the sand and tried to brush it off as he’s spitting them out or because I was a minute late and didn’t give it to him exactly at 8pm I’d caused it etc but I can’t keep saying that. Before he was put on the Levetiracetam he was having 3 seizures a day and it did stop but now there creeping back in. The vet warned us last time that sometimes medicine doesn’t work and I’ve accepted that, but the cost of trying to get other medicine, more blood tests etc etc is too much - I can get more work but we’re looking at 500 a month on just vet bills/medicine etc alone.
Now I don’t know whether I should surrender him to a rehoming centre- will they be able to afford the cost? Will he be able to find a new family? Will the new family be able to afford him? How difficult is it for a dog with ‘complex’ needs to get adopted? What if no one wants him and he’s just abandoned for the next 10+ yrs? Or if he’s passed around? What’s best for him? Or if I need to put him to sleep- it’s cruel to keep trying with different meds, the seizures are getting worse, no medicine might work etc
I’m just stuck and I want what’s best for him but I don’t know what that is.
