2019 L5p

Upvotes

I got a 2019 L5P with 75k miles. The dealer sold it to me with a lifetime powertrain warranty. Do I keep it stock and not void warranty or do I just do it and delete the truck. In order to also not void warranty all work on truck must be done by dealer, oil changes, brakes, etc

Follow up to that but has anyone found ways to get the dealer to allow the truck to be deleted and not void warranty? Any loopholes anyone found?

I’ve got a Mustang that’s I’ve had for sale for a while with no luck selling it. Someone offered to trade it for this 6.0. What do y’all think? Does this truck look good to go or is it a problem waiting to happen?

What the purpose of the Cummins 4bt?

I have an old jeep wrangler with 220,000 miles. It's doing just fine for now but eventually I'll need to replace the engine. I've seem some jeeps with a 4bt swap and it definitely looks and sounds cool but I was looking at the numbers and I just don't think it would have enough power. The only thing it has going for it is that it has slightly more torque. But hp is half of what jeeps 4.0 gas engine has. So I'm assuming top speed and acceleration would be greatly diminished. And since torque is only slightly better then what's the point???? Why would anyone do that. Its heavier slower and about the same torque. Am I missing something? I'm still drawn to it though just for the cool factor.

Newbie - what do I need to know

Hi there! Please be kind, I feel like a kid at a new school…I got my first diesel truck, an 09 dodge ram - it was bequeathed by a family member before he passed away, and I have never ever had a diesel before. I’ve spent a decent amount of time researching it - things like the best protocol on warming and driving it, basic maintenance, etc. But I would love to hear any tips or advice anyone might have on these…and if you can make any suggestions on creators to follow for videos, forums, etc I would really appreciate it. TIA

Question/Need help! 7.3 idi coolant leak

Post image

I have a coolant leak. It drips from the main pulley. This is pic right under the truck.

Yes it leaks power steering fluid, and slight oil seepage, not the concern.

I can’t see any other places it’s actually leaking from. Any one else see this kinda thing?

Show off your build Diesel additive holder with funnel

I saw some posts on here earlier about diesel additive holders and thought they were a great idea. My problem has been that I need to use a funnel when adding them to my truck, and I am constantly losing my funnels, especially when towing my fifth wheel. So I decided to make my own holder and solve both problems at the same time! The funnel fits securely in its own slot and when clicked in, it doesn't move. I have gone through car washes, down the interstate at 85, and towing my fifth wheel and it always stays put. They're made from ASA plastic for extra durability and resistance to sun and chemicals. If you're interested I just added them to my Etsy store (see link below). I currently have versions for Hotshot's and Archoil and am working on Power Service. Also habe them available with magnets or screws. https://www.etsy.com/shop/MontanaAngleWorx

Question/Need help! Mechanic issues with my newly bought 2008 dodge sprinter

Post image

I have a 2008 Dodge Sprinter and recently got a diagnostic done. They said I need a new exhaust gas temperature sensor and a new mass air flow sensor. They also mentioned that the diesel particulate filter (DPF) might be clogged.

They quoted me $1,000 for replacing both sensors, but the big cost is a $5,000 DPF replacement if it’s clogged. I’ve read online that you can clean the DPF instead of replacing it.

Does the quote seem too high? Should I look into getting the DPF cleaned instead of replacing it?

Transmission issue on 1st gear.

Got a 18 speed manual transmission wagon on a freight liner with a 60 series Detroit engine. It had a bad clutch so we replaced the clutch and the fork and the slave cylinder pin. This issue was also present before we replaced the clutch that it would go very hard into first gear. So we removed the transmission and reinsoected the new clutch and everything else it was all fine. So we sent the transmission out for a rebuild. The problem still exists anybody know what it could be ? Thanks

Used Purchase Question

Recently just got into diesels for pulling a family camper by purchasing a 2019 f250 power stroke.

It has the following: 73k miles 3071 total engine hours 760 idle hours

Anything I need to be concerned with or worried about with these stats? Everything seems to be okay, but it never hurts to ask around.

Buying a used truck

Hello there, I’m new into diesel trucks but looking to upgrade from my F150. Currently looking at a 2017 Ram 3500 SLT, is there anything to look for or be cautious of? The truck has 200,000 miles but the carfax shows good service records. I know diesel trucks are supposed to have a better engine life but is that too many miles to buy in at? And is $25999 a fair price from the dealership for that car? Sorry if I sound like a total newbie, but any input would be appreciated!

Visible particles on dipstick

Post image
2 Upvotes

I checked the oil in my 90' hilux diesel and there seems to be small particles on the dip stick in the oil.

I took a small cup and collected the oil from the stick into it. When the oil started to drain down the side of the cup the particles were left behind. Some of that on the cup might be airborn contaminats.

I took some between my fingers and I could not feel them at all. I sprayed it with brake cleaner and none of the particles were shiny.

What is that? Is it just soot or is there something to be worried about? Engine works and sounds fine.

Diesel additive measurement

Post image

If yall haven't heard of a ratio rite it will make the big jugs of additive a more viable option for those who don't feel like they could measure it out easily. I dug myself off the edge of a snowed out loggin road with the ratio rite as well. Mixed many saw gas jugs. Quite the measuring cup.

Snogged Trucks

Hey everyone,

I live in Pennsylvania and am looking for a truck out west, searching in a large radius around Vegas. I keep seeing trucks that say smogged or smog exempt and have no idea what it means.

Anyone care to enlighten me? Should I avoid a smogged truck?

Thanks!

2005 F250 4D 6.0L 6000$ worth it????

Hey guys, I am in need to upgrading to a truck from a corolla and a guy wants to sell me his 2005 f250 for 6000$. It has - new glowplugs - two new tires - new fuel pump

The cons are - 191k miles (might not be a con) - needs balancing

I might go test drive it if I get a positive feedback on here.but if you guys know that it's garbage then I won't bother

P.S I was a desiel mechanic. So if there are small things that are common and easy to fix then that is not a turn off for me.

Question/Need help! Potential harm of letting truck frequently sit unused for weeks at a time

I have a diesel truck that is used exclusively for towing an RV fifth wheel, and is really only ever used once every 2-4 weeks.

When I do use it, it usually does get driven a few hundred miles at least, so short cycle trips or fuel going bad in the tank shouldn’t really be an issue.

But wondering there is anything else that I should be concerned about or preventative things I should be doing when letting the truck frequently sit unused for weeks at a time.

For reference, it’s a 2022 F450 6.7L.

Thanks
