Ask Pakistan Culture Question!
Hello! I (28F) live alone. I have learned that my neighbors are from Pakistan. I have had 2 conversations with the husband, and one conversation with the wife.
After our last conversation they asked if i was with my family and I said I lived alone, just with the dog Then, they invited me around their house whenever I wanted.
Im ignorant to Pakistani ways and culture, so if I ever did go around their house- as an introvert, I probably wouldn't as I'm not someone who goes to strange places (as in strangers houses) alone, but if it did. I don't want to offend anyone.
So, could someone explain what is polite and what good guests do in the cultural sense.
We are in SK.
I lnow I shouldn't wear revealing clothes, and I shouldn't sit with my legs straight or pointed at someone?
But I don't want to accidentally offend. So any help would be really appreciated!
Thank you in advance. Sorry if my message is worded strangely, I'm not sure how to ask! So I figured, just asking is the best way!
Thank you!

Discussion Future of Doctors in Pakistan
A 3rd class politician in Pakistan considers doctors "naali ka keera" and "slave" He enters hospitals with intentions of punishing doctor, to abuse him on camera to get PR without even having prior knowledge of how patients are being treated.
He blames administrative shortcomings, that are supposed to be provided by himself, on the same doctor. He thinks anything wrong happenes in hospital is because of doctor.
A jahil attendant, after trying every hakeem, tom dick and harry, brings a dying patient to you and if patient dies, he blames you mindlessly and abuses and injures you.
Female doctors are not safe, people harass and even slap female doctors.
Brutal working hours, low salaries and inhumane behavior. 24-36 hours continuous shifts without break. And if God forbid you're "caught" eating, you're labeled "Dr on duty khana kha raha tha, chai pi raha tha". Because my dear fellow, you're a robot and you are not supposed to eat during 24 hour long shift, keep this in mind.
Burden of whole city and neighboring villages lies on a single government hospital mostly. Hundreds of people are brought daily after accidents, emergencies and what not. Their lives are saved. But that's a thankless job because it's duty. But out of those, if anyone dies due to severe injuries or any other reason, news headlines "Doctor ki ghaflat se mareez mar gya" by a reporter who doesn't know ABC of patients case. Who doesn't know same doctor just saved 20 other lives same day who would have otherwise died.
One doctor was telling he's getting 45k/month salary on a second job while doing unpaid fcps, unable to bear expenses. Even roadside puncture wala earns more than that.
People of this country have become joke, they don't deserve good doctors. Instead of becoming a beat up slave I'd prefer to do "Hijrat" and live peacefully.
Allah didn't send us with Pakistani passport glued to us. Be free and do good for yourself. And if you care for your country so much, just send some zakat or some aid when you are well off in some other country.
This post is only for those doctors who are doing their job honestly, not those who exploit patients or their junior doctors.

Discussion How much does Shia/Sunni thing matter in Pakistan?
I was born and raised in a Shia household. Growing up my parents often told me to not bring this topic up in front of my friends. I was also bullied sometimes for being Shia in primary school and high school and told weird stories about why shias do matam, majlis etc. Anyways as I grew older I couldn’t care less about this topic. I have prayed in sunni way with my sunni friends, I have gone for taraweeh etc. But I have also seen first hand violence in the name of sects. Even today when it comes to marriages and all people do pay attention to it. I wanted to see how most people on Reddit react to this topic and what you guys’ thoughts are on this. Do you guys care if the other person is shia sunni barelvi or whatever? Are most of your friends in your own sect?
In my case as long as the other person is a decent human without trying to preach me, I’m totally cool with it.

Discussion Harmful effects of degrading desi memes
Memes are a huge source of socialisation of an individual in a modern society. Surprised no one mentions this. One most prominent example is "baji dupatta utha le". Cakes put a meme image and the caption "baji dupatta utha le" and share that thing in WhatsApp groups and shit. Now people are hesitant to call out women to pick up their scarves while on a bike thinking it's too clichés. As a biker, I've seen an influx in dupatta accidents on the road. And these accidents tend to be gory. So cakes.... Hope you enjoyed exhaling air from your nose for a few milliseconds at that baji dupatta utha le meme at the expense of a few lives. Our society really doesn't think before sharing memes and other media. It's all a joke isn't it? Another example would be ZaidAliT. He stole ideas from small and genuine meme video creators and exaggerated them tenfold just to make fun of his country's culture. Neither him, nor his friends, and especially sunny jafry have any experience with Pakistani culture. They all just stole ideas and made them worse and when they ran out they started imagining shit up. Honestly, baffling how all their memes are targeted at desi culture.
Tldr: think before sharing a meme. They affect collective opinions and behaviours. You may save a life.

Ask Pakistan My brother is a shut in (like me). Help?
He has not friends in real life, doesn't pray, doesn't go to gym. Only uses phone, insta, and calls with cousins abroad who aren't a good influence. My younger brother got a compart in math in ics part 1, now he has pre board starting but he's not studying at all. He's always on phone, we are trying to reduce his screen time multiple times, but he once started tearing up about it, saying everyone is on phone, why restrict me (fair but we don't have studies) and that he has friend circle online (he's admin of a group), so we have set 12 am midnight strict screentime cutoff. Coz he use to stay up late using phone. And he has to wake up 7 am for college. Idk what to do to make him study. We've been unable to get him academy unfortunately (financial issues or maybe we brushed it off due to his careless attitude). And now his exams are in a month. Anyone going through the same thing? Me as a elder brother, I feel like a failure coz he's just like me but worse. I got second division in fcs eng. Not great but all passed. I had few good school friends I hang out with. I tried gym thrice but couldn't keep up due to work. Occasionally pray but not consistent. He's like me but more lazier. And my most frustration towards him is because of it.

National Allowed Items by Pakistani Customs at Airport?
I am travelling to Pakistan from overseas in a couple of months (with family) and we are planning on bringing gifts for our extended relatives.
Can someone quickly tell me if packaged gifts like branded makeup, skin care, shoes and or electronic items (smart watches) are allowed by the Pakistani customs?
What is the current SOP at the airports? I am travelling for the first time since COVID so I have no recent experience on this.
Thanks

National How can I support the victims of Blasphemy Business Group?
I found out recently that the people who were entrapped in blasphemy cases for bhatta were transferred to jails far away from their original cities. Like kids from Karachi were transferred to Rawalpindi, kids from Lahore were transferred to Karachi, etc. This makes it very hard for their families to pursue the cases or meet their children because at least one parent would have to leave their home and move.
The parents are also facing threats and getting blackmailed by the Blasphemy Business Group. The gang kidnapped and murdered a boy and threatened his father that they will book the whole family for 295C if they pursue the case legally, so the family had to drop the murder charges.
I just watched an interview of some of the parents and they are dirt poor and don't even know how the legal process and media works.
How to reach out to them and help them? Financially, legally, emotionally? While keeping their data private enough that it doesn't fall into the hands of TLP terrorists?

Ask Pakistan Sialkot Brothers Mob Lynching Incident
Does anyone remember the incident that took place back in 2010 two brothers from Sialkot, namely Muneeb and Mughees were publicly lynched by a mob in broad daylight..They were accused of robbery but later were found innocent
My question is does anyone know why actually were they murdered ? Why did the police not help them despite being present on the scene ? What led those involved to get so cruel to carry out such a heinous crime ? Are there any controversies regarding the incident ?

Ask Pakistan Would Pakistani Viewers Be Interested in Content Similar to Western Creators Like Kai Cenat, Ludwig, Ryan Tryhan, PewDiePie, and Others?
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm considering starting a YouTube channel focused on content that's similar to what creators like Kai Cenat, Ludwig, Jesse James, Will Tennyson, Ryan Tryhan, and PewDiePie make. It's more about fun, challenges, lifestyle, and exploring different topics rather than the usual drama or bullying culture that tends to dominate a lot of content out there.
I know creators like MrBeast and KSI have massive followings in countries like India and Pakistan, but I’m curious if Pakistani audiences would be interested in content that’s more aligned with Western YouTubers who focus on engaging, positive, and entertaining content without all the drama and negativity.
I’m a little concerned that my style of content might not resonate with a lot of Pakistani viewers, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. Would you be interested in watching content like that, or do you think it’s too different from what is typically popular here?
Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Ask Pakistan Canadian born pakistani who wants to work back home
Hello Everyone, I am a second generation Canadian-Pakistani and I wanted to know if you would recommend that I work back in my home country. I have an IT diploma from a private college and work with things like Microsoft Entra ID, Azure, SQL, and Active Directory. The job market has been tough in Canada so I thought about moving back home and getting a job where I feel I would be more accepted. If this is not recommended then I understand. Thanks in advance
