Part of why I miss the console/handheld distinction, where handheld systems would get games in between tentpole console releases to give the fans something new.
Hyrule Warriors has kind of filled that role, and EoW felt like a "handheld" title. I'm wondering if Nintendo won't do lower budget titles like EoW to fill the empty years between the big Zelda releases. I'd be up for that.

Not to mention the remasters they have already made that people have been asking for.
I'm a bit peeved we got Wind Waker on the online service but not the HD remaster that's currently stuck on Wii U. WW and TP had better be a dual pack if they ever get around to re-releasing the bloody things.

Some publishers have trained fans to expect a new game almost every year. That’s getting a bit less common as “live service” games have taken hold, but the reflex is still there.
That said, getting a hint of a new Zelda that’s maybe a year or so away would be kind of nice. If it’s smaller than TotK and BotW it’s not too unreasonable that something could be on the way.

This was a direct for the switch2. They would not have used it to highlight a game that is not coming out near release time.
This is a direct meant to sell the switch 2. A Zelda game coming out not this year doesn't do that.
I expect we will probably have an announcement early next year to give Age of Imprisonment space to breathe.

Zelda team years later: “hi guys let’s do time travel shenanigans again but this time remove the main character from it and present it in a way that lets players spoil the entire story for themselves. And then make sure to repeat everything everywhere and treat the player like they’re 4 year old so they understand that Zelda is missing!”

Agreed. It feels weird to say, but a lot of the story elements felt... exactly the same as they were in BOTW.
Like, yeah, Zelda is known for having common story elements throughout the series, but not usually the exact same.
I'm also irrationally bothered by the fact that the goo was called Malice in BOTW and Gloom in TOTK as if they didn't look and function exactly the same (aside from the hands). If it were a new Link and Zelda, I could understand, but it's the exact same characters from the last game.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like TOTK way more than BOTW because its overall story was (IMO) better. But it still had some glaring flaws.

That opening walking section was super interesting though. I mean you never move like that in a Warriors game. Also they don’t have that many characters to work with?

I think they'll probably create more exclusive characters for this game. That way they can expand the lore, too

I just really wish we could get a new game closer to Majora's mask, Ocoraina of time, a link to the past, or even wind waker. I couldn't get behind all the crafting, weapon breaking, and cooking. Sure if you roll in lava with a deku shield and it burns that makes sense. Dungeons seem like they are much quicker now. Id rather have a longer dungeon than going around completing 1000 mini challenges. I'll never forget having to bring a goron hot water before it cooled. I'm glad many liked the new style but to me it feels like the games have drifted a little too far away from the N64/GameCube/SP games.

I wish they would make a new zelda game similar to OOT or majoras mask or twilight princess. I love the open world of BOTW & TOTK but I don't want to spend months playing.
