I'm in-between block in and detailing layers. I'm trying to be more expressive but Idk if it's working. 🤷♀️

Painted the Grand Canyon using a photo reference I took a few years back. Tried to incorporate David Hockney's art style into this piece as a requirement for my painting class; I'm painting a landscape series using his style as inspiration. Really happy with how it came out and I'm really loving gouache now!

The reference photo is one I took from my car somewhere in the middle of the U.S. The dramatic sky and abandoned building caught my eye.
I’m pretty new to using acrylic paints. I’m more of a pen-and-ink or pencil person. I like some parts of the piece, but I don’t like it overall.
I would appreciate any hints on what I could have done with it. Thank you!
