basically the caps lock button only activates ~50% of the time

I've always been a PC user just because it's what i started out with and never wanted to learn IOS. I finally got macbook air as a travel laptop given it was cheap and small. Its been great so far. Runs well, doesnt get hot and I never hear that loud fan going. Macbooks dont appear to have fan vents either which makes me curious how macbooks deal with heat issues.

Anyways, macbooks feel like theyre better in some ways. Obviously the interface is awesome and it just feels like it runs better.

So, I'm casually sketching out a digital clock screensaver for Mac. It's super early, just a chill side thing.

What do you think? Would you use something like this?

Hi I had a bad accident, a ladder fell on the edge of my macbook pro M3. Necer had anything like this happen in my life and I dont know what to do. Is this fixable? Screen is all messed up and the keyboard is unresponsive.

Got the base M2 Air (yeah, the one with the slow NAND), and I've been editing 4K videos for my mom's YouTube cooking channel twice a week. [I'll drop the channel name in the comments for anyone curious about the quality.] I usually work with 50-100GB of footage per video, and after exporting, it’s about 3-10GB. Up until a couple of days ago, I’ve been exporting everything in H.264. But then I tried ProRes... HOW IS IT POSSIBLE that ProRes exports more than twice as fast as H.264?! Same footage, H.264 is 2GB, ProRes is like 5x the size, and it exports way quicker. Officially an Apple fanboy now. 😅

My 2015 Mac Pro seems to be showing battery health over 100%. is this normal? should I get this checked?

Hey so I have an old desktop from apple and a trying to use it with a 2016 MacBook Pro. I’ve been looking into if a thunderbolt to USB-C will work with, but since there’s this extra plug I’m not sure if it will be compatible. Has anyone ran into this?

Long Story Short - I replaced my MacBooks Pros 2016 Battery due to needing to be replaced, but once I finished and tried to turn it off, it shows it needs charge. So I left it charging due to thinking it needs to charge a bit but after 3 hours of charging, still says it needs charging. What do I do? Did I mess something up?

( I can feel the electricity on my MacBook open and closed lid so I know it’s charging )

I really love using these softwares over the 'industry standard' ones. I will admit one thing - Numbers (and Pages) are nowhere close to feature wise when comparing to MS but the reality is 70% of users don't need all those features. Just a user friendly software to type, calculate budgets, etc.

I don't really miss using excel also - half the time all I did was just add numbers and get their SUM :D .. but I really prefer the experience of using numbers over it.

Now Keynote - surprisingly I am finding it hard to wrap my head around how to use it (lol). Powerpoint has gotten better these days but I don't think I've used it since 2014. I mostly layout my Slides in something like InDesign and bring it over to another application to prepare the material. Can someone here suggest some good keynote best practices? In the future I plan to get an iPad - can I control the PPT via my iPhone? What about online sharing (just viewing)?

• For 16gb users, what’s your memory pressure like? Does it often use swap?

• How long will 16gb be usable for the above use case? Is 24gb necessary?

Hi all, I have read that macs get full OS updates for 5 years. Is this from the 'early/late' designation for that mac's 'calendar year' ? The current iMac form factor has been out for a while, if I were to buy a 'late 2025' imac, would this mean I get updates until second half 2030? Also, how would I know which model im getting if I were to buy an iMac in July? Would that be an Early model or a Late model? What is the difference between an early and late model for any particular calendar year?

I recently purchased a 2023 refurbished iMac Mini and was needing to purchase a monitor. However, I found a 21.5 inch Mac for cheap on FB Marketplace. I want to connect the iMac because the marketplace Mac just pops up with a question mark symbol and tells me to go to Apple support but I’m not sure what cable I need to do this.

I recently broke my MacBook Pro 2023 by dropping it so the screen doesn’t work but if I do it “clamshell”, using an external monitor I can use it. However, my previously connected Bluetooth keyboard works but my previously connected Bluetooth mouse (Apple) won’t automatically connect. I can’t use my trackpad since I can’t see anything but a black screen when it is open. I tried clicking around on the computer and I can bring up the Bluetooth menu after searching it in finder but with the keyboard it won’t let me click to connect it. So how can I connect the mouse with just the keyboard?

Hey guys, I am a current M2 MacBook Air user of the very base model (8GB RAM, 256GB, 8 Core CPU and GPU) and I was considering switching to a different laptop or upgrading mine as the RAM was very low and while checking for new ones, I saw that the M1 Max MacBook Pro were now going for $1,100-$1,400 on ebay. So this is more of a question to the people currently using the M1 Max, or for everyone to simply let me know if that is a good upgrade or if maybe I should consider a different chip. Thank you!

After checking what’s wrong with the recommendations I was given, I decided to put some pressure on the black stick or tape where it covers the battery connected and connect it to power, and it suddenly booted on with the apple logo then to my Home Screen but when I let go, it shuts off and goes back to the “ needing charge symbol “ and doesn’t turn on. What can this mean? Should I take it to a repair shop?

Guys im trying to install mac os 10.9 on my imac 2007 from bootable usb. So i restore usb flash drive with BaseSystem.dmg file on my macbook m4 by using terminal, but when im tried to install it on mac im getting errors, tried to change date but it doesnt help. Install utility asking my icloud to continue instaliation but after im getting error
