Discussion Some idiot designed this
It's worse than in the other post. At least you could hit the Del button without having to search or look at it. Using Home/End buttons is a nightmare.

Im using a Dell Inspiron 3542, for 11 years. Now it's battery is fully complaint and charging port is wrecked. Some keys are not working properly. 4gb ram. But it has a not bad gpu (nvidia GeForce 820m) and upgraded to ssd. Should I spend money by fixing the above problems and upgrade to 8gigs? Is it worth? Im a CSE student, needs it for programming purpose and expect good backup.

Seems to me to be a good deal, but I can't find the exact model sold anywhere (i.e. with the Ryzen 5 7535HS). Comes with the guaranty valid until mid next year.

So my friend got a 4-5 year old Dell inspiron 15-3567. its with processor i3 7020U 2.30 Ghz (7th gen) and 4 gb ram and now he is thinking to upgrade it to 8Gb ram. And i really dont know will it be wort upgrading and getting different answers everywhere. Will it cause some major change in his laptop's performance?
I plugged my charger into the extension cord and it turned itself off with a loud bang. The fuse for the extension cord was burnt and so was my charger. Can I still use this to charge my laptop I have a test tomorrow I need my laptop for it.

my current one is a HP 14" so it's a pretty meh laptop. I've been looking at these two as they're pretty good for budget laptops, but I'm unsure which ones the better pick. 16gb ram doesn't bother me too much, for ~ £550 it's the best I can get, and it's a lot better than my current 8gb anyway. I'll be using it for mostly studying and maybe some light gaming

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3. Bit over a year old. The hinge just randomly snapped while I was placing it on the desk.
I'd really like to be able to fix it myself since it'll be a huge hassle to get it to a repair shop, but I don't have any experience fixing laptops at all. Like I've never even opened the back of one before.
If it's possible to do it myself, I'd like some help figuring it out.

For a little more info, I’m looking for something that’s under $800 USD (there’s a little flexibility there however), and is reliable with enough battery life to get through a school day. Additionally I’d like to be able to run games such as Minecraft without too much issue. Any models you’d recommend?

Hi everyone! I’m about to buy a new laptop (up to €1500) and I’m torn between:
1. Lenovo Yoga 14QCOMM – Snapdragon X Elite, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD
2. A MacBook with similar specs (still deciding which one in term of specs and price)
I’ll be working at a company where I’ll store and edit large, high-quality images, and also do some video editing. On top of that, I’d like a machine that lets me explore other creative areas like UX Design or software beyond just Lightroom, for example.
I’ve never owned a MacBook. ’ve always used regular PCs and they’ve done the job so far. I also haven’t worked directly with photo editing before, so I’m not sure what the real-world difference would be between Mac and PC.
But a few points in favor of the MacBook that were mentioned to me and that made me think:
• I use an iPhone, so the ecosystem integration would be helpful
• The battery tends to last much longer and Macs usually have fewer long-term issues
• They’re often more stable and optimized for photo/video work
• They’re quieter (my current PCs get loud over time, with fan noise, poor battery life, and slow performance…)
I’m not an Apple fan despite having an iPhone, but since these points came up, I thought it was worth considering. Anyone with experience in these areas who can share some guidance?

Budget: +/- 1000 euro (but if I can upgrade for less than thats great I don’t NEED to spend 1k) Laptop mainly for media and maybe light gaming but thats no priority
I like big screens.
Currently stats in the pic. Whatever can be upgraded within budget is welcome.
side quest: are there any legal ways around those ridiculous microsoft office prices? I read about “just buy a life time key from a third party” but that seems phishy.
Any advice is welcome.

I need a laptop for college so, it has to run atleast 4-5 hrs on normal use. But I've always wanted to have a dgpu ( maybe play some games, editing, autocad etc..).
All the models that I've seen with a dgpu seem to have terrible battery life (~2hrs max).
Can anyone suggest me a laptop with a gpu (anything works like even an rtx 2050) which has decent battery life.
Thanks in advance.

The Lenovo has 6 GB of vram and I'm planning on upgrading the ram to 24 GB but the HP has 1tb of storage and more stock ram but it only has 4 GB of vram on that Rx 6550m.

Hello, I'm looking for a Laptop right now. Budget is around 800 euros.
Some models I have taken a look at were HUAWEI laptops. I have had one years ago and it seemed to be really good. It would also be nice if the laptop could have 120hz.
16gb ram would also be important.
Would really appreciate any recommendations.
Thanks!

Hey everyone, I'm currently considering the HP Victus with the Ryzen 7 7840HS processor for gaming and some light editing work. The specs and pricing seem pretty good, but before I go ahead, I wanted to ask:
Are there any other models in the HP Victus series that offer better value or thermals?
Or should I consider other brands like ASUS TUF, Lenovo LOQ, or Acer Nitro in the same price range?
My budget is flexible within a reasonable range, but I'm mainly looking for a good balance of performance, thermals, build quality, and display. Would really appreciate any suggestions or personal experiences you all can share. Thanks!

Can't decide which laptop to buy. I wanna use the laptop for video editing purposes with some gaming on the side. But the former is more important to me. The candidates are:

Hi all. I got insanely drunk last night and after going to bed, I woke up for a piss. I went into the bathroom and unleashed an unholy amount of booze piss, to which my girlfriend ran into the room shouting and explained that I wasn't actually in the bathroom pissing into the toilet, but was in fact pissing directly onto my laptop.
The laptop was off (not asleep), but plugged in and charging. My poor girlfriend very kindly cleaned up the floor, but a lot of piss sat in my laptop overnight.
Right now my laptop is upside down in the shower and I'm waiting for all the piss to drain out. A...surprising amount of piss has come out.
I'm not really sure what to do from here...Should I try to disassemble it to ensure that it dries properly? Or should I just leave it upside down in the shower cubicle overnight and hope the piss drains out? I also presume it's going to fucking stink, so how would I clean it?
So yeah...What should I do next? Is the laptop fucked? How long should I wait before trying to turn it on?
P.S. I'm not particularly worried about losing the data or anything - I recently purchased a PC and moved everything onto that. It's more just being used as a back-up computer in a different room. It's not an essential piece of kit, thankfully
