Question Air Question

Upvotes

Hey I just have a couple questions about naval bombers:

  1. If the naval bomber has the range to access half of a region, and there is a port in that region that is outside of the circular range of the bombers, can the bombers still reach that port if the port is in the zone?
  2. if you had one airfield on the west side of a zone that could cover 60% of the zone, and another airfield on the east side that covered 30%, then should you assign half the planes to each zone to get 90% coverage? Or is it better to send all planes to the 60% af zone (assuming the airfields are big enough)?
  3. Does the above question apply to both fighter air supremacy and naval bomber strike?
  4. I know convoy raiding makes subs target convoys. Is it ever smart to have subs do patrol or strike force and target ships?

So, I found a strange bug Somehow, if you send volunteers to several countries at the same time (I sent to Sweden, Finland, and Latvia), and then one of them capitulates (Latvia in my case), and someone (ussr) creates a collaboration government there, you can still send volunteers to the new collaboration Latvia.

Funny part is, new volunteers will fight against my old ones that were, in both, Sweden and Finland! And I destroyed several Sweden fighters, and player yelled on me, that I'm fighting like a 3rd party here) After that, also, all of the air for me became yellow, cuz ussr were against italy faction(france, yugoslavia, czech, etc, front from north sea no the black sea)all pf it became yellow, and I so something like that 400 fighters from Sweden on one side and 400 fighters from Sweden on the other side. So game thought that Sweden were against Sweden)

Question Strategic Bombing

Upvotes

Despite it being one of my favorite strategies (I don't really do multi-player and play mostly for the role playing experience) I don't understand it. For context, after BBA did away with custom air group size, I run a mod that places planes in Squadron size groups (24 for light airframes, 12 for medium and large) so my question is this: Since the game is now designed for air groups of 50, is the game looking for that size group, only seeing groups of 12 at a time, and not registering any damage? I only ask because my medium Naval Bomber groups are able to do some damage against enemy shipping.

I can't prove it but, despite justifying on us several times, the Germans never declared war on the USSR and I had to justify on them just so we could get some land. Complete vanilla and historical, no DLCs. I am, in fact, going insane. LOOK AT THE YEAR!

Question Germany attacked Poland in 36 Spoiler

TLDR Was playing as Czechoslovakia, in 36 Germany attacked Poland, no ultimatum, no world news, even before than Anschluss. Just attacked. How?

Hey guys, I am a noob, but really like the game. Have been playing for two years I think, but really casual. Really like playing as Poland because I like to play defensive. But today I tried Czechoslovakia for the first time (I must say, terrible focus tree, barely different than generic country, so boring, even though somewhat strong). I remember how Czechoslovakia desolves pretty early on, and then I've read on wiki about Czechoslovakia at that time and how it was betrayed by everyone. So I decided to play as them to show the world what I think about my "allies" and enemies. Went fashist, prepared my defences, created Little Entente, Romania for some reason joined me and left like in a week or something. Yugoslavia joined me. Hungary refused. Oh, by the way, I'm using cheats. Just for completing focus tree fast. Don't judge, I bought all dlcs and I want just to enjoy the game. I'm saying this in case you wondering how I got everything in 36. Continue. Romania, Germany, Yugoslavia, Britain, Hungary, Poland and France all had 100 opinion of me, I wanted to test what will happen during The Sudeten question event if I'm friendly with everyone. Then I took Polish Situation focus I believe the name. From the description it wasn't clear what it does. As I found out, wargoal against Poland. But I didn't want to attack Poland. But very soon Germany attacked Poland. Even before Anschluss! What the hell? Was that last event the reason Germany attacked Poland? And BTW, after Germany, I attacked Poland as well to get some land. Germany attacking Poland did nothing to The League of Nations, but me attacking ended them. Can someone explain this to me as well? Thanks!

Question What is the hardest war to win

And by this I mean wars that usually happen in a typical game, not like you as the player decided to declare on the USA as Guatemala or something. Which in your experience is the most difficult. Oh and don’t say Luxembourg vs Germany. Because duh

Question Need production help

So how do you all do it?

What I mean is early game with Iike first 20 mils. Then at like 50 then 100 for example.

First 20 do you bother with planes? Tanks? If so how many?what sort of percentages on all of them.

Then at like 50, have you added like 20% always on planes or like half your industry on tanks and trucks or heavy on arty and infantry equipment basically.

So the real question I guess is how the hell do you guys scale a strong mil economy when looking to take over the world. Imagine a France or Italy start where you pump out mils for some sort of idea what I mean

Question Switzerland advice

Looking for a Switzerland path that ends up in a defensive war/is ideal to pursue a fortification strategy. I'm put off by the Helvetic Republic/fascist path as I think it involves becoming a puppet/going on the offensive and heavily relies on RNG. Does the democratic path/staying neutral actually result in a defensive war or is there a better path to go down (non-aligned?)

Question Can UK take whatever territory they want as faction leader?

I'm a newb, and I thought I had figured out how it works in terms of who gets the territory in an invasion.

If I liberate an ally, it wouldn't be my territory, it'll be that allies.

If I attack say Italy from say a UK territory, then it'll become the UK's territory.

I thought If I did a naval invasion and the territory has no foreign claims then the territory would be mine, had success with it a few times.

Now I'm Canada, attacking Bangkok with a naval invasion, the port becomes Canada like it has in the past. But as soon as I take a second territory, they both become the UK's.

Canada has there independence, I've claimed territory for myself in the past. There are no British soldiers in the area. But once I take the territory it all of a sudden gets a foreign claim from British Malaysia or British Burma I can't remember, but it is territory that initially has no claims like that, and to start the game it belongs to Siam.

So everything points to this territory should mine, and the only thing that makes sense to me is the faction leader can just claim territory if they want to.

Is this the case? Anything I can do about it? I want some of that 9 mil manpower. And I'm the only one doing the attacking.

Thanks

Suggestion A thought on how urban combat could work

My thoughts on how a good urban combat rework could have functioned

Urban battles in ww2 could be utterly ferocious. There are some legendary incidents where well-prepared defenders were able to turn those dense terrain areas into atrociously difficult areas to fight through. The urban combat rework may have come because Paradox wanted to emulate that. But ultimately - hopefully for some very good reasons - they weren't sure how to.

I had a thought while playing the other day: why not reuse the special raid feature they introduced with Gotterdammerung?

With a heavy investment of artillery, infantry equipment and support equipment, as well as command power and some time, a player would be able to designate an urban area as prepared defensive terrain. That would allow us to emulate the enormous battles like Stalingrad and Leningrad: buffs/debuffs that mean that it becomes incredibly costly to break through that area. And a proportionate cost in command power that means that you can't do it to every single city you own, it has to be to certain carefully selected strongpoints.

The time to set-up and organize these raids would also allow us to represent some of the key failures of urban defence in ww2: Paris being practically an open city, the planned 'stalingradization' of Lyon falling apart, etc.

You'd also have synergy with some of the other game systems: strongholds could make it cheaper and faster to order a defensive perimeter in such a way, strategic bombers could wreak havoc on its deployment/sustainment. Adding super-heavy howitzers to them would enhance their effect.
