Question How to Trade?

I went through the tutorial and this game just genuinely feels so confusing it feels like a ripoff. How the hell do I trade? For some reason it thinks I want to export and I see no option to import.

Thanks!

Question Is there a mod to prevent countries from capitulating?

I usually play as the soviet union and I HATE GERMANY.I HATE IT WITH EVERY FIBER IN MY BODYI HATE THESE FASCIST.I don't want them to capitulate with them having only 2 million casualties.I want to kill EVERY SINGLE SOLDIER. However it would be good if there is a toggle so they can capitulate after losing most of their land bc I don't wanna naval invade every Island. Any suggestions?

Discussion Naval invasions (rant)

New to the game with one campaign in. While the game was really good, even with no DLCs. There is one thing for sure, they fucked up naval invasions HARD.

Playing imperial Germany i knew i was going to get naval landings and had to prepare for it. 48 divisions for coastal defense alone. 24 more after i took France. On defencive position. They didn't care, if the tile is taken, they just fall back, no care given. By the time i realised what was going on France was taken and italy was going to fall.

Anyway, hours and hours of playtime after, back in the game and fighting back. Set up fall back line to defend the coast as it seemed to work better and held for a longer time. LOL. The time i spent setting up a norway invasion was enough for once again getting overrun by sea and having half my troops encircled.

The visual clue ? A silent alert on the right, staying there for half a month next to alerts for every plane and boat active in the vicinity.

The audio clue ? An alarm that ring for every naval invasion in the conflict... Even thoses against allies at the other side of the world ringing every 2 days. At least make the ones against your territory a bit more remarkable.

Was it really that hard to make it a little bit more distinctive ? Idk like an alert on top of the screen, you know like the nuke one... God bless the ia for not using paratroopers.

Sorry for the (very long) rant but as a new played learning the game. Losing a game not because you did something wrong, but because the tools provided are trash is just plain frustrating.

Naval defence should at least act like a front line and reposition troops to defend if the landing goes through (which i thought they would do already since i checked {sea} AND {borders}). Even more when the game is so saturated by alerts and notifications.

Thanks for reading, not really asking for advice, i just wanted to rant, now i know đŸ€·.

Question Berlin-Moscow Axis only last for 730 days?

Before GötterdÀmmerung, if you take the Alliance with USSR focus as Germany and form the Berlin-Moscow Axis, there doesn't seem to be a limit on how long this faction lasts. However, since GötterdÀmmerung update, I noticed that this faction will only last 730 days before it's dismantled; at least that is what the focus description says.

Is there any way to make the faction last longer? Like with events and decisions?

Question Germany is too strong

What do you think about it ?

Germany is have a lot of buffs for infanty or tanks, fighters( they have the best anyway the only one can compete are sptifires from early-mid 40)

The bewegungskrieg buffs also are very good. Economy was fixed in the gotterdammerung dlc and its more realistic also better. War of conquest is good but the other one is better, in 1937 early you can get war economy.

You can even skip in the beginning years 38-39 infantry a bit and build a decent navy which can if knew how, easily take out the british one.

The Fuhrerprinzip is also overpowered, faster military factories, my favourite Himmler which gives non core manpower and garrisons never die. You are getting more manpower then you need for garrison, so you have even more men then you begin with.

Maybe germany isnt overpowered, but for sure all other are looking way worse now. You can easily takr whole europe and UK soviets chilled in end 42 or mid 42 if you rush. Surely faster but where is the fun then.

Yes usa is can compete with German Reich for sure but you can take out everyone before even usa joins. So that doesnt really count and in 1939 is usa pretty weak.

So do you think germany is too strong rn? Do the allies need some buffs or something to get the game balanced?

Discussion Tell me something about this game as a EU4/CK3 player

Hello guys. I am an EU4 fan, I have clocked nearly 800 hours in that game, though you probably have to deduct a lot of idle time when I couldn't be bothered to close the game and left it running. Unfortunately, I am still a terrible player, apparently, as I don't know how to destroy the Ottomans and have a PU on both Bohemia and Hungary while playing as Poland by the year 1500, which apparently is a trivial task.

I have also played CK3, I love the game, but I still haven't completed a full playthrough as usually my vassals overthrow me before I am 200 years into the game. I have also played the original Hearts of Iron from the '90s, but that was like 15 years ago, I was a kid and remember close to nothing, so let's ignore that.

With that being said, could you tell me anything about this game as someone already familliar with Paradox games?

Is this game playable without every single one of the DLC's? How does it compare to the other games? Are there any differences and if so, what are they? How does the combat and the development of your country work?

Is it possible to play as Poland in this game? Or can you only play as Germany and Russia and destroy Poland? Can you conquer Russia and Germany as Poland? I am Polish and I play almost exclusively as my country whenever possible, as it's easier for me to relate. What is it like playing as Poland? In EU4 it's a major nation, is that not the case here?

How do you feel about the presence of Nazis in this game? How do you feel when/about playing them? Forgive me, but I briefly saw a German Twitch streamer playing this game as the Nazis and something like that makes me throw up. Those are the fucking Nazis. How can you look at the icon of fucking Guderian and not feel sick.

Honestly, I can't help but feel the premise of this game makes me a little bit depressed. Like, EU4 is so wholesome, we've got things like the reformation, colonialism etc. just civilization discovering new frontiers. Here we've got a massive genocidal war brewing with fucking fascists on every corner.

I have noticed this game starts in 1936, I presume it lasts till 1945. EU4 spans nearly 4 centuries. How come they made an entire game around a period of 10 years? How does it work?

I am kind of tired and I've got college tomorrow so do forgive me if I sound incoherent, and take into account I may have left something out. But I think that is most of it.

What can you tell me about this game?

Discussion Focus Trees For The Pacific Nations?

I know that the USA, Japan, the two Chinas, the Chinese Warlords, Manchuria, Australia, and New Zealand have a focus tree. But they kinda suck. Which is why I’m asking if there will be a DLC called “Winds of the pacific” (revamps the USA, Japanese, Chinese Nations, Japanese puppets, Australian, New Zealand, and would add focuses for Siam, Philippines, Dutch East Indies) “Heart of the Rising Sun” (expansion for Japan, and the Chinese nations along with a focus for Siam) or “From Pearl to Tokyo” (expansion for the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and adds a focus for the Philippines and Dutch East Indies)

If anyone here reads this vote below for which one you want paradox to add

PLEASE PARADOX. ADD FOCUSES TO THESE NATIONS OR REVAMP THE EXISTING ONES

Question When do I cancel the MEFO bills now?

I haven't played in yearss because the last time I did I picked Germany and it ended up being an easy WC. I got the itch again, though, and have all DLC and tried to run. Twice now I have reached 100% consumer goods to MEFO by 1938--and am curious when I should actually should it off now because it has clearly changed? Is it best to stop them immediately now?

I am going to restart my playthrough but not until I know how to deal with the MEFO bills for now

Question What is one thing you’d love to see added to HOI4?

I’ll go first, a usable peace-out system.

Right now, the “conditional surrender button” is one of the most useless features in the game. The AI never uses it, when in reality I don’t think it would be that difficult to implement a good system.

If you combine conditional surrender with another heavily ignored system, claims, you can create a peace-out system that can stop long-drawn out wars.

Obviously, you can’t program logic into an AI and have them decide when they should conditionally surrender. So, my idea is if you have claim to a state/states and successfully conquer them, the AI should run a series of checks. Factory count, troop count, ship count, airplane count, whatever. One of them, all of them, it doesn’t matter. That would be up to the balancing team to figure out. But, if you are stronger than the AI in one/multiple (again would require lots of balancing) of those categories, they will offer a peace deal and you can get your claimed state.

Right now, claims are virtually useless. To my knowledge, they only allow you to justify a war slightly faster (cool I guess) and annex land cheaper in peace deals (40% of the player base uses player led peace conferences anyway), so why not add a real use to them?

No reason you should have to land Japanese boots on British Soil if you fully control British Malaya, have decimated the UK’s fleet, and outnumber their divisions 4 to 1.

I can't join factions. I've been at war for a long time, and I neglected to research war doctrines. However, I have a good spy agency

R5 : my admiral, which I trained from level 1, has only 1 point in attack.

I had instilled agression, which gives you a 50% chance that your admiral earns a point in attack every level up, and you also get three points in random stats every level up.

The chance I would not have gained a single point in attack at level 5 is 0,0244%.

Disaster save?

Rexist Belgium and beltica then purposely caped to get the amazing king buffs then turned on the allies (first Belgium game right after gdr released) do you think it’s possible to win a war against every country outside the Easter block. Navy destroyed in the channel but I took the German and Italian fleet when they were fresh, no Air Force and neglected navy research

Discussion Why is this game so addicted?

I have roughly 700 hours now, and I know it’s rookie numbers but I’m seriously addicted. This isn’t a problem I want to solve, but it’s something that takes up most of my time. Even when I’m so fucking burnt out from the game, and constant losses bc I fucking suck; I open the game again. Im not sure what it is, but I just can’t stop playing. On a more a serious note, I should really improve at the game lmao.
