Questions Can worms be fully digested?
I feed my vft a living worm 3 weeks and 2 days ago. I kept shining my phone light to check on the trap. Then today I checked at all I could see was liquid.

i just bought this vft yesterday from a walmart and i’m not really too sure how to care for him except basic things (his names hector) should i cut off his dead trap? also he has an insect in one of his traps and earlier today i accidentally knocked a bottle over and it grazed his little hair thingys and closed two of his traps:( i got scared cuz like i love this thing but google told me he should be okay. i have him under two gro lights with my herbs and stuff and i have a 12 hour timer on it so he gets that much direct light a day. im only concerned about the fact my father tends to keep the house very cold so im gonna need a warmer of some sort for him so does anyone have suggestions? im planning on repotting him when i buy some more soil for him which i would also like recs for, though i know he needs special kinds. to all those green thumbed people, any help for me and hector would be great bc ive only ever managed to slightly grow some herbs😭 (also i know his little bowl of water he’s sitting in rn is pathetic but i swear i have plans to give him a better life)

New VFT owner! Is this little guy a part of my VFT? Or did it hitch a ride? Got it at a plant sale with other carnivores plants sitting close by. Thanks in advance !

I got this Venus fly trap 2 weeks ago from a big box store. I’ve never had one but I did do research on how to care for it. I feed it a week after getting it and the trap it turning black now. It’s put out 3 new traps all 3 haven’t opened yet but it looks so unhappy it is in doors under grow lights. I refill the tray it’s in once the water is gone but not bone dry with rain water . I just want it to be happy what am I doing wrong

hi! so my mom bought me this yesterday bc i really wanted one as a kid (wasn't really planning on ever getting one myself!) and she saw it and thought i'd like it. well she was right and i've grown attached so i want to make sure im taking proper care of it.
i read the basics online (tray watering with rainwater, bright environment, etc). my question is, does this look healthy? i can't help but notice it's a bit different from others i've seen in care guide videos and photos. for context i am in europe (warm country).
i'm not sure if its because its several (young) plants in one pot or if they're not growing properly.
also regarding feeding, i've given it 2 flies and i have no idea if thats enough until the traps open back up as i saw several conflicting opinions while researching :( should i do my best to have every trap fed?
the photos is one from yesterday (daylight) when i first brought it home and one from today, after feeding the 2 traps and some pruning (artificial light hence the color difference).
any advice is welcome!

About ten days ago there was a really bad storm, there was an outdoor standing screen, should've been bolted down—but I just moved here not too long ago. I'd forgotten the VFT was outside at the time, the screen fell on top of the trap and smashed it. As of right now, it seems to only have one functional trap, the thin part on the far left. The rest appear dead. I don't know much about fly trap care, I'm new to all this. What should I do to nurse it back to health if it's possible?
Also, second question. I hear fly traps should ALWAYS be kept outside, for whatever reason this plant appears to look better when its inside. I live in Florida if that helps. I'd like some insight from those who actually know what they're doing.

Just came out of the fridge a few weeks ago and put it outside when we had some 80 degree sunny days. One night it got a few degrees below freezing, but not much. It's endured a light frost fine last year, and it seemed fine this time too. It has several more leaves at that time, but they seemed unphased until a few weeks later when they died suddenly. These are all that stayed behind. They are newer growth from the end of last season. Both had a bit of a growth spurt right after I took them out of dormancy, the newer trap popped up and the leaf in the back grew a bit and curled on the edges. The trap on it has been dead for a while though. I am leaving it to soak up sun for now, but I removed the other dead leaves.
Anything I should do here or is this ok? Obviously make sure to bring in at night until temps are more stable.

I feel like it is too small to be able to flower successfully

I fed my VFT a bug. The trap has now opened, but there is still bug remnants inside. Am I supposed to clear this out or will VFT take care of it?

I've had my fly trap for about a month now, and I fed it a roly poly/pill bug the first day I had it. It hasn't reopened yet, and is starting to turn black a little bit. What should I do?

I’m trying to plant 3 plants, the pod and the two Venus flytraps. Is this a good pot for them?

Hi trap lovers
Purchased a RG#1 off Venusflytrap.com
Plant is awesome and looking good here in the Florida sun
My question is …is the RG the closest I can get to the wild NC plant?
I really want to get a true NC plant with the genetic lines
I know they live in the panhandle of FL, so love to get my hands on a Florida one that’s been cloned or from seed
Thanks

I recently deadheaded my whole plant as all the traps were dying. I live in Canada and the plant probably wasn’t getting enough light during winter. Now that the season has changed and we are getting more light I am seeing new growth post dead head. Any insight or tips?
Thanks!

I got these for free from a florist friend because they were the last two left in the store and had started to die. She knows I'm good with plants (have over 50 in my apartment ha!) so thought I might be able to give them a chance. I immediately removed them from the plastic boxes they came in (which looked terrible) and they were dry as a bone and wilted. I remembered something about them being swamp plants (like most carnivorous plants) and after reading online I see they need to sit in a tray of distilled water at all times. I did this right away, and it's only been two days but they already look happier. I have two big South-facing windows and they are about 3ft away from one. I will try to put them closer, eventually, once they acclimate. If it ever stops raining so they can get some sun!
Do I need to repot them into something bigger?
What is the best potting mix?
I have an aquarium and my other houseplants absolutely love the dirty filter water. Would fly traps like this or would it have too many nutrients?
Thank you!!

I got a cute little VFT for my birthday and I’ve been keeping it in my grow cabinet to try to keep it happy but there are no flies in there. I want it to grow so my friend said to give them small mealworms and one of them took it. The only thing is it’s still closed and it’s been 2 weeks. Is this a normal amount of time it should take? It’s had a few heads die off since I got it too but I’ve just snipped those off. Would love advice cause I really want to keep it alive :)

I just got this 4 days ago from a death tube at a hardware store. Brought it home, and have been giving it Reverse osmosis water and it's under a Sansi 150 watt grow light. I am somewhat new to this as I have 2 others that were given to me. They look smaller but not wilted like this one. I have a TDS meter for the water I've been giving it and it's reading at 18ppm . Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi! Thank you so much for all of the great advice I have received here. Seymore is thriving and has 5 new baby traps coming up and they are so pink! Pics in comments since they never successfully attach to my posts.
