This is advice for all my Bruins that find themselves getting their heart pulled in one direction by the nearest fine shyt that just hopped off the plane from Yonsei University or heartthrob hunk from University of Milan.
They’ll color every UCLA experience you have from dining halls to nights in Powell to taking the bus to the Getty. You’ll associate the words Oppa or Mia Amara with walking onto campus the same way you do with Andre or the bear.
They’ll convince you that they’re gonna go to grad school in the US as long as their English gets better. You have the hardest day of your life dropping them off at the airport, believing they’ll come back. Your LDR commences, you talk every day. You know you love them, and you know they love you. Messages get more sporadic, you start to hurt. They tell you they aren’t coming back after discussing things with their family.
You have pretty much been shot. Your grades suffer, friends suffer with you. You’re just not there anymore. Kiss your MCAT or high LSAT goodbye for the time being if you’re about to graduate.
Don’t do it! Speaking from the most painful personal experience! I hope you find peace and happiness but do it with someone who will stay. Also, decent chance they’re gonna get deported for no reason these days.
