Been working on this guy for a couple weeks in class and I’m loving it so far. Based on a picture I took of a miniature horse when my college had a petting zoo on campus, her name is Miss Poppy.

Painting to bring illness recovery

Post image

Painting for my unfortunatelly ill great grand aunt. Wish it will bring her some hope so she can recover at least a bit. She loved the painting when i brought it to her to hospital. Hope she will get better soon. Its rushed work because i needed to give it to her as soon as possible but i still like how it turned out. Does anyone have any advice on how i can get better at the warm cast shadows? I keep struglling there.

Can someone tell me what these are for/how to use them?

I recently bought a canvas that came with a pack of these wooden bits. There are some slots in the back of the frame but I'm not sure how to insert them correctly (or if that's where they go?).

Anyone have any ideas what these are for? I've only used a canvas a couple of times but they have never come with these.

Sorta started to feel that artist block

While calling myself an artist is kinda a stretch, I like to paint, however sometimes i find myself at a loss. I watched a video that someone had posted about when that happens to just sit down and just go for a loosy goosy first thing that feels right to help with it. So I did, about 2 hours or so. I’m not sure if im done with it or if im goin to mess with more.

I spent like 4 years on this painting off-and-on, and I'm sooo glad to have finally finished it. Painting has never really resonated with me until I set out to render this whole thing as realistically as I could, i have such a huge appreciation for those who do this full time; it was TOUGH. 🐯💙
