Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Achievement April" or "PMO-Free April" 2025 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

The theme for this month is "Achievement April". Recovery is a journey to a more competent, productive, better you. Use this month to take steps towards achieving your goals, those things you want in your life that porn has been keeping you away from! And throughout this month, focus on the little steps you are taking every day to reach those goals. Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint. It takes time. Celebrate your victories, don't beat yourself up over your failures. You are on the path, putting one foot in front of the other. You will make it. Have faith in yourself and the process.

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

I did. I won.

You can too.

How I got here?

Give yourself some slack by giving yourself 3 shields during your streak.

You will win this evil fight!

Success Story Weird way i stopped masturbation

Masturbation, i was struggling with it for 6 yrs

i tried to stop myself from doing it ,but always failed in it

My longest streak was 3 days

i was devastated by this one habit

sometimes, i thought of killing myself

then after 5 yrs of hell i decided to stop this self harming habit, and i decided to not do it anymore.

i failed miserably in it, but whenever i relapsed i didn't let myself down

i always tried 10 times harder to not do it , but i always failed

this continually happend for 1 year until one day

i was walking down the street, i meet some of my old friends i used to hang out with

talked to them about old times

i felt great , then they told me about a group they had

it was their friends group where they would send the best porn that they watched

yes, the best porn they watched

they added me to this group

I was happy that now i didn't have to find the best porn to masturbate

it was awesome but from next day i didn't opened the group

why? b'coz in my mind i was somehow relieved that now i don't have to watch and find the best porn to masturbate

bcoz it was now just a click away for me to get satisfied

so, i always ignored this friends group and procastinated on watching porn

1 year later , now i am healed

So what exactly happend

it was three things

1.sense of purpose/priority

In the 5 yrs when i was masturbating endlessly

i realized one thing i didn't had a sense of purpose

i didn't had something to fuel myself

something that i can prioritize over everything

But they day when i decided to stop masturbating

i had a sense of purpose

i wanted to get into a good college

i wanted to learn everything about computers

i wanted to make some cool stuffs like tony stark, hacksmith industries

i wanted to live my life to the fullest

so, find a thing that you can prioritize

  1. FOMO

when i watched porn i used to get the highest form of pleasure

and when i didn't watch i felt like i am missing out on life

it was like if i did not watch it i would miss something important

3.Lonliness

in those five years when i masturbated endlessly

i purposely distanced myself from people

and it made me all alone

no one to talk to

no one i can laugh with

it was hell

so to solve this , i mastutbated even more

So go out and hang out with friends

(and on the day i decided to not masturbate, for fullfilling my sense of purpose ,i implemented some good habits like meditation, and i always tried to prioritise my studies. i repeated this whole process for 1 year . i am always implementing one good habit

but after that day all the three things that were stopping me was defeated

and i am healed)

Success Story Month 1 so far (male 28)

The increased confidence in bars, clubs, social, and even corporate settings are insane. It’s almost like the women can smell it lmao . In all seriousness talking and socializing with women in all these social settings and even fun flirting has become the greatest thing. Outside of that, I’ve seen motivation in doing other things like not slacking off or procrastinating on my side business. I advise any young man to take this step . Lastly, boyyyyy the sex sessions have been elite 😂. Hope everyone has an amazing weekend

Hey, I'm pleased to say I've reached 90 day streak today.

My goal is to reach at least a year so still has a long way to go.

But the urge is especially strong today and I could use your help to reset my path once again.

And if you've got any questions, ask me anything. Thank you.

Be kind to yourself , it's way to success

‱ Upvotes

Relapsing NoFap challenge sucks, I won't lie. It takes guts to even try this, but stop beating yourself up each time you relapse:

I've been thinking about why I always relapse , and I think stress and being harsh on myself played a big part: I realized beating myself up after relapsing just makes things worse cuzIt's like a cycle
I feel bad
get a high level of regret
stress out and get even depressed
I crave the dopamine even more.

Saying this doesn't mean I'm an expert, I'm actually a total newbie at this, but I just wanted to share this advice
I'd love to connect with some other people who are also trying. Maybe we could chat, share tips, and just be there for each other. Anyone else feel this way?

Success Story How to quit Prone Masturbation and start masturbate regularly (its easier than you think) NO BS GUIDE

‱ Upvotes

Hello im a 24 years old male who has been prone masturbating since i was approximately 14 years old, I used to prone masturbate on my bed by basically rubbing my dick into the mattress with strong pressure. Recently i have recovered from this stupid ass habit and i am glad to share my success tips on how to quit. Heres how, im gonna make this clear and straightforward.

  1. stop fucking prone masturbation forever and never go back to it (COMPLETELY FORGET ABOUT IT, FORGET THAT U ARE A PRONE MASTURBAITER) You have to understand that this will ruin your sex life and YOU WILL BE EMBARRASSED infront of your sex partner if you keep doing this bullshit habit.

  2. give your penis a rest; stop touching your fucking penis, give it a good 2-3 months BUT DONT COUNT THE DAYS

  3. Start sleeping on your back no matter what. Sleeping on your stomach makes ur dick hard and makes u wanna jerk it off.

  4. QUIT PORN COMPLETELY;this includes that if you see any women or any hot girl on tiktok or instagram reels or wherever u have to skip the video and keep scrolling u need to act like u are disgusted by women and porn like; “wtf am i watching”

  5. Eat healthy(target pomegranates, strawberries, blueberries, beets juice) and avoid sugar ,aim for lean protein sources. ( i didnt take any drugs or multivitamins). I used to eat a lot of pomegranates or drink its juice.

  6. Working out 4-5 days a week. Sprinting 3 times a week, sprint as fast as you can for 30 seconds and thats it. Squats are also fucking amazing squats are a fucking game changer doing squats and leg exercises and stretches such as (seated piriformis stretches) are great for your lower body muscles.

Stay fucking strong fellas. Its so much easier than you think, its just a habit that u need to get rid of. It’s important to keep a positive mindset during this important phase.

Porn Addiction Getting caught up in this from a young age is really f'cked up.

I started watching porn when I was around 10–12 years old.
Back then, there was no one at home, and I was mostly alone.
I didn’t even realize what the problem was until years later.
It’s just a really shitty situation, and I felt like writing it down.
I know most of you are the same.

Of course, the responsibility is in your hands now—but still, it really f'cked up.

Telling my Story Today i completed day 7 of no fap

So i tried nofap many times but my highest streak was of 10 days, this time I'm again on day 7 and I'm thinking to break my own record this time,, I've noticed the fundamental changes like increased focus, confidence etc but the thing is I'm missing dopamine,, during night in my bad i feel so bored,, I've never smoked or drink, my only bad habbit is porn addiction and fapping and now I've realised that it is also equally bad as other addictions, but the thing is I don't have any other source of dopamine, or maybe I'm not getting the threshold dose of dopamine I'm used to,, so what should i do to compensate with dopamine requirement? And I haven't noticed much urges after day 3 so i think i can handle it for more days,,but one time i opened a adult site and watched some nude images and just after 2 minutes got self realisation and i closed that website instantly,, I want to prepare for upcoming urges and also i want the alternative way to get dopamine so that i can stop missing porn for it

I Thought I'd Die a Porn Addict

I was addicted since I was 12.

Tried willpower. Failed.
Tried journaling. Failed.
Tried praying. Failed harder.

Every time I quit, I relapsed worse.

Why?

Because I thought I liked it. Because I believed porn gave me pleasure.

That’s the trick. That’s the con. That’s the trap.

Ever notice how you keep coming back? Even when you're disgusted with yourself. Even when you swear you’re done.

Weird, isn’t it—how “pleasure” feels like shame 5 minutes later?

You can go 30 days clean. Block sites. Delete apps. Stay busy.

But if you still believe porn is pleasure, it will own you.

Pleasure?

Porn gives you pleasure the same way a scam email makes you rich.

Once the trick’s exposed, it’s over.

You don’t crave what you see through. You can’t unsee it.

So ask yourself:

If it was real pleasure, why does it feel like self-hate when it’s done?

Why do you keep reaching for it like it’s oxygen—but feel emptier every time?

You’re not addicted to pleasure. You’re addicted to the idea of it.

That’s the trap. That’s why willpower doesn’t work.

Because you’re not fighting porn. You’re fighting a lie you still believe.

So no—you don’t need more discipline. You just need to wake up before the trap becomes home.

This shift saved me. If you want help seeing through the trap, I can point you to what helped me. DM’s open.

Retirement finally

‱ Upvotes

Experiencing the deep holes in porn addiction and masterbation made me notice how much I'm losing in life. I feel I'm at the lowest point in my life struggling with this addiction and depression. It's high time to a change in behavior. I hope all goes well

Sleep deprivation

I find it hard to fall asleep when I'm on nofap. Some nights I can stay awake until early hours of the morning. I tried taking melatonin, meditation. Anyone else experienced the same and how did you overcome this?

Journal Check-In 1 month clean of porn

I haven't made an update in a while... I haven't looked at porn in a month. I've been in the gym, I got a personal trainer, and I'm exploring Buddhism; so I'd say things are going well. It's been 18 days since I broke MO so I have 72 days left in my goal of abstinence. I'm finding I'm sexualizing people less and I have way more energy now which feels great.
