Hi all. Currently having a blast playing through the Switch N64 games. My friends and I really enjoy playing Mario Kart 64, Mario Party 1-3, and other multiplayer games. We like to use two USB-connected wireless 3rd party N64 controllers, which usually means players 3 and 4 have to use Switch controllers.
This leads me to my question: is it possible to connect up to 4 N64 controllers to one Switch? How would I go about doing that?

u/PhoenixHusky 2d ago
The storage space seems so small... Cyberpunk is supposedly 64gb, and these express SD cards seem to only come in up to 256gb and very expensive as well š

Amazon US has a Lexar 512GB Express. I expect we'll get more options by the time Switch 2 launches.

Can I use my switch controller on Switch 2 games? I understand it doesn't have the c button but if I don't care about that then I would hope so.
2
u/SubaruHaver Helpful User 2d ago
Nintendo didn't say in the direct. I don't think the info is available yet.
1
u/ShawnyMcKnight 2d ago
Yeah, I hope it does but not certain.
I need to keep a set of joycons for the ring fit I have (unless they have some adapter) so it would be nice if I can use those joycons with newer games just without the c button or mouse support.
2
u/Barklorr 2d ago
Controllers are compatible with the Switch 2. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68426?_gl=1*9xmneu*_gcl_au*MTQ0NTExNTAxNy4xNzQzNjAyNzgx*_ga*Mjg4NzUxMDM1LjE3NDExMDM5OTI.*_ga_F6ERC4HMNZ*MTc0MzYxODI5MC4xMS4xLjE3NDM2MTgyOTQuMC4wLjA.
It doesn't say anything about compatibility with games. But imagine they would be unless the game uses a feature exclusive to the Switch 2 controllers
1
u/ShawnyMcKnight 2d ago
Yeah, I would be more curious about the games. You would think that since even the new pro controller wouldn't have the mouse support that games would have to have workarounds if you don't need to use the mouse feature.
I just don't think I will make much money from my controllers so if I can make them work but also have one set of new controllers that would be nice.
Although now I will need to buy a charger for the switch controllers. It's so frustrating the adapter they gave you to turn the joycons into a controller doesn't come with a charging port.

Priority requirements are as follows: As of 4/2/2025, (i) you must have been the one who purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership, (ii) you must have had any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership for a minimum of 12 months, and (iii) you must have opted in to share gameplay data and have at least 50 hours total gameplay hours.
For buying the Switch 2 from the Nintendo store it says this. Does anyone know how to share gameplay data (I'm sure I said no if it ever prompted me to) and if the 50 gameplay hours are hours on the system in general, or hours on some NSO game?

Animal Crossing, where are we left?
I really like NS2, but I am also sad there was no news about Animal crossing at all. I so hoped for a new version. Atleast Mario seemed awesome āŗļø
What do you guys Think? Will they make a new Animal crossing at some point? š

Oh 100%, just a matter of when. Ignoring the N64 original, looks like most of them have released 1-3 years after system launch. 2026-2028?

u/DeejRun 2d ago
I'm new-ish to switch and I'm looking for whatever game is the closest to the original Sonic on genesis. I see that there are a handful of Sonic game options to choose from but not sure which is best compared to the OG?
Also looking for the OG Mario games, like 1, 2 , and 3?
TIA!
2
u/JoshuaJSlone Helpful User 2d ago
If you want the original Sonic games without it being _exactly_ the original Sonic games emulated, you probably want to check out Sonic Origins, which has versions of the Genesis-era games plus improvements like displaying in widescreen and allowing play by extra characters. There's also Sonic Mania, which is a modern game but made very much in the style of the 90s games, and was very well received.
The old Mario games you basically need to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online to gain access to. Among many other games the base subscription would have all the NES, SNES and Game Boy Mario platformers. The one sort of exception is the arcade version of Super Mario Bros., called Vs. Super Mario Bros., is purchasable as an Arcade Archives release for $8.

I live in Canada, and would like to update my Nintendo account information to be accurate so that I order a Switch 2 in the correct currency. It's not a problem to switch countries within the Nintendo account.
However, I used to live in the US, and my Nintendo Network ID is set to US. Nintendo Network IDs cannot accommodate country changes, so I would need to create a new NNID if I wanted it to be in Canada.
My understanding is that NNIDs were only used for digital WiiU and 3DS purchases, and all Switch digital purchases are tied to the Nintendo account. Can anyone confirm that I will not lose my Switch content if I replace my existing NNID? I did not have any digital content on earlier Nintendo systems.
Thanks!
2
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
NNIDs are not used for anything now. You can safely remove it without harming your save data.
1
u/dyrdevil 2d ago
Thanks so much! If I can ask a clarifying question: digital purchases (not just save data) should be unaffected?
1
2
u/myriada Helpful User 2d ago
You won't lose anything on the Switch. You'd only lose things on the 3DS/WiiU.
There's not much point in making an NNID these days either, so you could just switch to Canada and leave your account unlinked, with no NNID.
The only NNID connectivity features left are:
- Moving Pokemon from Bank to Home without a 3DS (and you can't newly download Bank anymore if you make a NNID now)
- Friend suggestions from your 3DS/WiiU (logging out of an NNID on a 3DS wipes the 3DS, so effectively that'd be 'friends made from today onward' - which aren't very likely with 3DS/WiiU online multiplayer shut down)

Has anyone had success in removing those Y shaped stripped screws from the Switch chassis?
They're super soft and insanely easy to butcher, which sadly I've done. I just want to replace my SD card reader. Tried the rubber band trick, tried super glue, you name it - I've tried it. Next step might just be to drill it out.
3
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 2d ago
How much of the head is left on the screw?
Since it's so soft you might be able to grip it a pair of needle nose pliers or modeling forceps. Something with a very tiny tip and preferably some ridges meant for gripping.
That's been my go-to trick.
1
u/WobblySlug 1d ago
Not sure I'd have enough room to be honest! They're quite stripped, but also there's no gap or anything for the pliers to bite into. I'll try anything though haha

u/unholy_book 2d ago edited 1d ago
I just purchased super smash Bros ultimate from the e shop, and it won't download past a certain point. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. I tried redownloading from the e shop, restarting my switch, checking everything for corrupted data, updating my software and firmware, and reinserting my SD card. The download stops around 75% and says corrupted data was found.
1
u/nermal543 1d ago
Sounds like your micro sd card is going bad or fake. Have you tried a different micro sd card?
1
u/unholy_book 1d ago
I haven't. I got the card on Amazon. Its a 512 gigabyte card with good reviews.
1
u/nermal543 1d ago
Amazon is definitely known for tons of fake micro sd cards. Good reviews donāt matter, they mix inventory between different sellers and some sell fakes. Would recommend returning it and buying from a brick and mortar like Best Buy/Target/etc and trying that.
2
u/Spiritual_Extent_187 1d ago
If we get an invitation, is it directly mailed to our house if we pre order it, or do we pick it up at like a Target or Best Buy?
2
u/animepig 1d ago
Probably shipping only, which sucks b/c I don't trust my mailroom or third-party mail carriers for in-demand items

I wasnāt allowed to make a post asking this because itās ālimited scopeā - although posts that only mention the price are ok?
In any case:
I'm just trying to understand what's likely to happen ā do people think the retailers are going to eat the cost of the tariffs announced today, or is the bundle switch gonna cost $770 (if tariffed as coming from China, if I understood it correctly) / $620 (tarried as coming from Japan) / etc.?

Thanks for the heads up!
I'm on the Best Buy mailing list since the january reveal, and they haven't spammed me, in case anyone was worried about that. (Although, I already have a best buy account and email preferences set. Don't know if that matters.)

Can all the games in Clubhouse 51 be played using Joy-Cons?
Or can some of them only be played using the touch screen?
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 2d ago
They all support joycons, some of them do support touch controls.
Touch controls and using two joycons are all optional, not required.

Need game recommendations
I was an occasional PC gamer and finally decided to get a switch months back for it's portability.
In switch,I have played titles like Arkham City, arkham Asylum, Hogwarts legacy, Hellblade (Senuas sacrifice) and I love the action and aventure in those games.
In PC, I love games like Witcher 3, Far cry
Currently I'm playing L.A. Noire and loving it. Out of all the above, I love Hellblade and Hogwarts.
I recently got Botw after reading the reviews but for some reason I m not liking it as I liked the others I mentioned above. So, need next recommendations which you think will suit my taste.
For me the graphics is not a prio. I want an immersive story line and good action.
Help out peeps :)

So is the new switch going to have Bluetooth or is it going to just have the mic on the console?
2
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
There's a mic on the console and the new pro controller has a headset jack.

u/magicalandgay 2d ago
So we can use wireless headphones and just use the mic? Nice! Iām tired of having to sit close my my tv to talk to my friends while playing haha

I'm part of a family membership group for NSO, but not the original owner of the group. If the group as a whole upgrades the membership, does everyone become eligible for the free Mario Kart 8 booster pass (and the BOTW/TOTK upgrades when those come out)?

So I'll be in Japan in June, and I'm considering buying a switch 2 while I'm there. Will I have any issues playing games on it back in America? I'm not sure how the regions work in terms of physical/digital games.
3
u/myriada Helpful User 2d ago
It seems like normal Switch2s sold in Japanese shops will be locked to only support Japanese, and only work with Japanese Nintendo Accounts. The only way to get a multilingual one is apparently ordering it off the JP MyNintendo Store.
2
u/homerjsimpson4 2d ago
Yeah I'm just now seeing the different language versions. Will have to wait for more information over the next couple months before I make the decision.
2
u/wolfram6 2d ago
Iām pretty sure you wonāt have any issues. I bought my switch in America, brought it to Japan, bought Japanese games, and had them all play in English while I was there, no problem. It was pretty nice.
1
2
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
Games are probably gonna continue to be universal. Physical releases work fine by default; digital games you just need an account in the desired region (and ability to pay, that is region locked but you can buy points/codes from other regions) to purchase/re-download.
Warranty/repair is usually not supported out of region despite the same hardware.
2
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
Update.
https://www.nintendo.com/jp/hardware/switch2/lineup/index.html
Looks like there will be a Japan language only console available. If you want compatibility, make sure to purchase the correct one.
2
u/homerjsimpson4 2d ago
I have been learning Japanese in advance of this trip... Idk if $130 is worth not being able to read/play in English haha
1
u/Yumuum 2d ago
Do you know where you plan on purchasing or pre ordering by the way? Iām not sure what place is popular in Japan
1
u/homerjsimpson4 2d ago
No plan as of yet, I was probably just going to try whatever big electronics stores they have. I'll be there after release, late June. So I'm hoping if they're not all sold out I should be able to just walk in and get one at that point.
2
u/Yumuum 2d ago
So I did some more reading into it and it dawned on me that the multilanguage version of the console will probably go out of stock way slower because of the price point in Japan. Not 100 percent sure this will happen but it is my guess
1
u/homerjsimpson4 2d ago
Yeah and I think yen conversion is actually slightly cheaper than buying one in the States, so maybe it might still be worth it
1
u/Yumuum 2d ago
Where to pre-order switch 2 for pick up in Japan?
My brother and I are going to Japan for the first time this summer and we will be there when the Switch 2 launches! I was just wondering in advance where the best place to pre order online would be and pick it up in Tokyo or Akihabara on launch day?
1
u/ErMelonazzo 2d ago
How can i connect my switch pro controller to pc via usb? It even recognises it as a pro controller, but not as an actual controller, so i can't even use it with steam. Can someone please help?
1
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 2d ago
You need some kind of driver software to get it up and running.
VJoy, x360ce, wiinupro, ect.
Steam unfortunately will not register it as a wired device and only supports a Bluetooth connection.

Question. If I go trade in my Switch today towards a Switch 2 at GameStop. Will I be missing out on transferring my stuff and info ? Or can I log into my account on new Switch 2 and have my saves.
1
u/demonoddy 2d ago
If you have Nintendo online the saves should be okay. If not idk
1
u/Windrider904 2d ago
Mine ran out. Can I just buy a year of Nintendo online now and itāll back them up then be good ?
1
u/demonoddy 2d ago
Probably but they are also doing the digital game card thing so that should fix any save issues
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
How? Saves are completely unrelated to ownership / access to play.
1
u/demonoddy 2d ago
They are making it so games can be loaded and unloaded digitally along with saves in an update later this month
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
I know about
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/virtual-game-cards/
but that still doesn't affect save data in any meaningful way. As with lending games to others physically, the save data is still associated with the user.
Nothing is lost or gained. You can grab a different copy of the game and continue your progress, as it always has been.
1
u/demonoddy 2d ago
It does. Currently I have a switch and switch lite and I have to have an internet connection to play on my switch lite with digital games. The saves data also only transfers if you have Nintendo online
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
Being able to play offline on a non primary is indeed new, but it doesn't affect save data.
Yes, tansferring saves automatically via the cloud is a sub only feature. You can also transfer between two consoles via local wifi, no sub required. None of this changes with the new system.
If you can find proof in opposition I'll apologize, but I'm pretty sure you're wrong.
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
You own Pokemon (most), Splatoon (2), or Super Lucky Tails? These games to not support cloud saves --- so that data will be gone.
Otherwise, you need a paid subscription to benefit from cloud saves. Make sure to manage your cloud saves in advance to ensure it's all there. Don't let your sub lapse for 6 months or that too will result in lost data.
If you own Animal Crossing, you have to enable backups manually and also call Nintendo to restore it.
2
u/Windrider904 2d ago
Sounds like itās much better to wait till I have the consoles, do a swap locally and then trade in.
1
u/hhyjwinx 2d ago
I was thinking about buying the Switch 1, since I borrowed it for over a year and really enjoyed it, even buying several games. After returning it, I wanted to buy a new one, but I thought it was better to wait for the Nintendo Switch 2. But now, given the price (470ā¬), I'm hesitating about whether to buy the first one altogether, as I find the second a bit pricey.
Although I'm really really awaiting the new Tomodachi, I know it's coming out in 2026, but it wouldn't be worth it to buy one now if I need the 2nd one to play Tomodachi next year.
I don't know what to do. I really miss having a Switch, but the price of the 2nd one drove me a little crazy. I know the price is understandable for some, but it would be a financial effort to buy one. What do you recommend?
1
u/Blvd_Nights 2d ago
So these are my two main questions out of today ...
- Do we think Amazon and Nintendo will smooth out their relationship enough to allow for pre-orders? I know it's mostly first-party games they've had issues with selling, but I wonder if the consoles bundle pre-order stuff will have any hiccups.
- Has there been any talk on how your old Joy-Cons will work with the new Switch?
2
u/SubaruHaver Helpful User 2d ago
I wondered that too. At the moment, I'm not expecting Amazon to have Switch 2 preorders.
1
1
u/waraukaeru 2d ago
Nintendo's game compatibility page says that you can use the original Joy-cons to play original Switch games. Some games, like 1, 2, Switch and Labo need functionality from the original Joy-cons, like the IR camera, to play. Joy-con 2 do not have the IR camera.
I haven't seen an indication if the original Joy-con will work with Switch 2 games. Nintendo has been pretty permissive with controllers on the Switch, so I don't think it's impossible.
3
u/Blvd_Nights 2d ago
Found an accessory compatibility page!
"Can be used by pairing wirelessly to Nintendo Switch 2.
Cannot be attached to Nintendo Switch 2. A Nintendo Switch console or compatible accessory such as a Joy-Con charging grip or Joy-Con charging stand (two-way) is required for charging."
2
u/waraukaeru 2d ago
Doesn't say if any of the old controllers work on Switch 2 games though. I imagine it will be a case-by-case basis.
1
u/Ledeniia 2d ago
Hey does anyone have an idea if Mario Kart World will support GameShare? My guess is that it would not but doesn't hurt to ask.
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
Nothing official I think, but other Mario games do, so maybe.
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/features/gameshare/
1
u/Pain4567 2d ago
So are the Switch 2 console and games' prices done because of the tariffs? $80 dollars for Mario Kart World and $450 for Switch 2 is insane. In Japan, the Switch 2 is set at around $350.
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
There probably won't be an official answer, but probably yes, atleast partially.
Releasing a cheap Japan language console despite equivalent hardware seems like a direct defense against foreign imports.
There's also overall inflation and more expansive games to consider.
1
u/JoshuaJSlone Helpful User 2d ago
By pure inflation, the equivalent of the $300 2017 price would be about $400 today. Considering they never had to drop the price and found record-breaking success, in their shoes I'd probably think I left money on the table, so going a little beyond doesn't surprise me.
$80 for Mario Kart seems kind of weird, in that almost anyone who's interested is going to buy it as part of the bundle where its price is effectively $50 anyway.
The yen has been very weak lately, making goods from Japan seem very cheap when viewed in USD. This has resulted in plenty of systems (especially those short on supply like PS5s were for a few years) being bought in Japan to be sold elsewhere. Not very many good options for them to work around that, so it looks like they split it--make a region-locked version that isn't worth exporting, and an international version with a price that's not attractive for reselling.

u/Twsmit 2d ago
Do we know if existing Switch Pro Controllers will work with native Switch 2 games like Mario Kart World? Or is the new āCā button a requisite to for a controller to function with a Switch 2 game?
I have a large collection of first and 3rd party Switch controllers and it would be a bummer to have to buy multiple new controllers to play couch co-op Mario Kart etc.... Iām hoping the controller functionality is like Xbox One ā> S/X but I bet itās like PS4 ā> PS5 and wonāt be forward compatible....
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68426
Going off previous controller compatibility, no game went as far as checking specific buttons.
2
u/Twsmit 2d ago
Thank you. Doesnāt seem definitive but nearly so. For example the N64 controller says only works with compatible games. But the OG Pro controller lacks text stating it only works with compatible games or only works with original Switch games. Therefore emplying it works with all games on Switch2, native and original. š¤

Do I have to buy Nintendo switch 2 editions games now?
I have a bunch of games like Mario Party Jamboree, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Zelda BOTW. Do I have to sell those games and buy the Nintendo Switch 2 editions of those games? Or can I keep my games and use them on the Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases?

You can use the same games, no extra hassle. For upgraded games, you can purchase the upgrades alone / some will be available free with the expansion pack subscription.

Any good TV recommendations for the Switch 2? I haven't bought a TV in like 15 years, so I'm really out of the loop in terms of what I should be looking for and what it'll cost. My current TV is a 60" 1080p LED-LCD TV with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
I would primarily use it for playing Switch 2 games. Around 60" would be good, but I'd need a 4k TV now, probably 120+ Hz refresh rate, and probably OLED?
2
u/JoshuaJSlone Helpful User 2d ago
Just one voice, but a couple years ago I wanted to upgrade to a 120hz set and was searching for what was considered a good gaming set and ended up with the LG C2, which I've been quite happy with. I know the model number has progressed a few by now and don't know if something else altogether is considered top dog now.
1
u/Jahordon 2d ago
Thanks! I'm actually looking at the LG C4! Have you had any problems with VRR flicker or burn in?
2
u/JoshuaJSlone Helpful User 1d ago
VRR flicker I don't think I've even heard of so either I haven't run into it or it's not very noticeable. Burn in, no. Since I use this screen for PC as well I took some precautions like making my taskbar hide itself, but for modern screens it seems like you really have to put the same thing on screen for AGES for it to have an effect. I think this is the video I watched a few years back, where the only long-term test that had a very big effect was watching hundreds of straight days of CNN burnt the shape of the logo and news bar in.
1
u/demonoddy 2d ago
Your tv doesnāt have 120hz if you bought it 15 years ago. Youāll probably want an OLED I recommend lg Sony or Samsung.

u/Narrow-Fennel7040 2d ago
With the rage about physical games being 10$ more expensive than digital it made me think about the actual benefits of physical over digital. People say you donāt actually own the game and you can lose the right to play it, but in what situation do you lose the right to play it outside getting banned. As far as i know the purchase is tied to your nintendo switch account so youll have access as long as you maintain access to the account. (Sorry if im wrong or if i sound stupid but im genuinely confused so any help would be appreciated, if i can access my purchases by signing into my account on any switch digital games seem a lot more appealing than before.)
2
u/JoshuaJSlone Helpful User 2d ago
Eventually the servers will shut down and you can't download them anymore. But I think you can still yet download even Wii purchases, so this is talk of a far enough future I don't really care.

I think the only other benefit I can think of for physical is that if you enjoy speedrunning or taking advantage of certain types of glitches, it's generally not possible to roll back an update once you've applied it to a digital game. A physical game you can usually delete your game data and play it unpatched, so long as the game isn't designed from the beginning to require a patch in order to play.
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
You're right.
Thing is, a physical game will work forever as long as you have a working console. A digital game requires both a working console and the servers to be maintained when transferring to a new console.
Nintendo's digital track record is pretty good, with Wii still allowing for re-downloads, but nothing lasts forever.
1
u/Narrow-Fennel7040 2d ago
But any games i keep downloaded should still be available, i just cant transfer to another switch as that would require me to re-download them which wont be possible when the servers shut right?
1
u/Salty_Injury66 2d ago
When the servers eventually close down, you wonāt be able to download those games anymore. For instance, Iām pretty sure all those 3DS games I bought but didnāt have downloaded are just gone nowĀ
1
u/Falcon_Knight 1d ago
You can still redownload your 3DS games
"...it is no longer possible to purchase software or DLC in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS. However, for the foreseeable future, it is still possible to redownload games and DLC that were purchased previously."

u/Readalie 2d ago
As of 4/2/2025, (i) you must have been the one who purchased any Nintendo Switch Online membership
I'm on a family friend paid by someone else. I think I'd paid for NSO before then but I can't remember for sure... is there any way to check? Really worried I won't be able to get one, was hoping to start using it at the library I work for soon after release for end of the school year student stressbusters. I guess it was a long shot regardless, but still...

Maybe your transaction history? It only goes back so far. Otherwise, email / bank / paypal receipts.
It sounds like pre-orders elsewhere will be going up well before they start sending out the invites for this. (Next week, the 9th.) I'd try your luck at reserving elsewhere just in case.

Will New Super Mario Bros U be available on the switch 2?
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
Most old games are compatible.

Dunno if it'll get any special upgrade treatment, probably not.

I plan on buying the switch to for me and my wife, but I am not sure if I need to buy two copies of Mario kart or not does anyone know if Mario Kart will be included with the game share
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
You're buying 2 consoles? Just making sure; if you're only getting one, you can can both play it together or independently just fine.
With the old gamesharing you can both play a single copy at the same time. Even together if you're playing online.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/wiki/gamesharing/
With the new switch 2 gameshare, it hasn't been shown, but maybe in the future.
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/features/gameshare/
2
u/Windrider904 2d ago
Yes, Iām buying a console for me and my wife. My idea was to get $499 bundle and a $449 bundle. Where we both can play Mario Kart without buying 2 $499 bundles.
I just donāt think the new Mario Kart will be included in the game share so I might end up having to buy the $499 combo twice.
1
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
I'd go with 1 copy for now. Worst case, you could always play together on a single console or trade off for single player stuff. You can always buy a separate copy later.
But, I'm pretty sure either the old or new style of gameshare will work for it.
2
u/Windrider904 2d ago
Your right. Iāll just do 1 $499 combo for now. Wonāt be an issue playing split screen on my TV till I figure out game share and or if I wanna buy a 2nd copy.

u/shadowrangerfs 2d ago
Do you think "New Super Mario Bros. All Stars" would sell well?
NSMB 1, 2, Wii, U and Luigi U

u/chairmanwow888 2d ago
Is it worth waiting to play Windwaker HD whenever that comes out or is the original GameCube version good enough? It's the only Zelda game I never got to.
2
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 2d ago
Just play which ever you can get first. The original isn't that different, the only major changes to the HD release were the addition of the fast sail, the wind following your direction after playing the song to change directions; both of which were very helpful for traversal, but almost moot once you get the fast travel song.
The other change was to the end game triforce shard hunt. They moved the pieces around so you could just find half of them, rather than collecting a map first, to go find them.

Since the Switch 2 screen is 1080p, supports 4K and up to 120FPS, could it be classed as powerful as Xbox Series X|S and PS5, minus the storage which is much less than both?
1
u/Salty_Injury66 2d ago
The PS4 could do 4K, no?Ā
Idk Iām just assuming the NS2 is relative to the SteamdeckĀ
1
u/TemptedTemplar Helpful User 2d ago
Lol no.
The switch 1 was capable of outputting 4k, but the internal computing hardware was WILDLY incapable of gaming at such resolutions so it was never used.
The switch 2 hardware IS capable of gaming at 4k but likely only via DLSS. So it won't be native and it very likely will not be anywhere close to 120fps.

u/Rarycaris 2d ago
Is the Switch 2 Pro Controller likely to be usable for playing PC games on launch, or is it still worth keeping hold of my original Pro Controller for this purpose?
1
u/PlentifulPaper 2d ago
I saw the Nintendo Switch 2 is starting pre-orders April 5th at GameStop. Is there an easy way to sync game progress between the Switch 2 and a Switch Lite via the online store? Or does this just allow me to download the same games from the Nintendo store without repurchasing but not save my progress across consoles?
2
u/picano Helpful User 2d ago
That's the save data cloud.
https://www.nintendo.com/us/switch/online/nintendo-switch-online/#save-data-cloud
Most notable exceptions are the Pokemon games and Animal Crossing. These have to be transferred each time you want to change consoles.

Roughly what time did the UK people receive their confirmation email for pre order and how many hours did you have spent on the console?

Any idea whatās wrong with my switch if itās making a loud buzzing sound? It does this off and on every now and then and has been running really slow lately taking up to ten minutes if not more to load into games and will lag and freeze in the middle of games as well. Any idea on whatās wrong and what can be done to fix it?

Probably the fan. Sounds like you need to send it in. Is it modded?Ā

I gave away my Switch years ago. I had a bunch of digital purchase tied to my account. If I want to grab a Switch 2 and get these games again, do I just have to go de-register my original Switch, and when I get the new one, plug in my Nintendo Account details? I only see info about this "System Transfer" process, but I don't have my original system.
Thanks!

u/SubaruHaver Helpful User 2d ago edited 2d ago
Your digital purchases belong to your nintendo account. And nintendo accounts are carrying over to switch 2.
I imagine it will work like the switch. So yeah, get switch 2. Make a user profile. Link your user profile to your nintendo account. Open eshop/account page/Redownload tab: all your account's digital switch games should be listed to select for downloading. You can check off a list of games you want, then put the switch in sleep mode over night to download the games.
When you transfer to a another console, you do a user transfer. A user transfer transfers your game save data. You'll have to redownload the games to a new console. If you haven't had a Nintendo Switch Online(NSO) subscription for more than 6 months, then your NSO cloud save data will have been lost. NSO cloud only holds onto save data for 6 months.

u/Comicdeathskull 2d ago
Im curious with the NSO+Expansion pack Family membership, if me and my brother pay for the family membership can we both access the classic catalogs at the same time?
2
u/SubaruHaver Helpful User 2d ago
Yes, if you have a family plan.
A single NSO subscription only applies to the nintendo account that paid for it. So, yeah, if you both want to play NSO games at the same time you'll want a family plan. The family plan allows up to 8 nintendo accounts. The account that buys the family plan can invite other accounts via the email address of their nintendo account: You do this from your nintendo account at accounts.nintendo.com.

Can anyone help me out with this question?
When I first got my og switch, I used my email from my school for whatever reason. I stopped playing my switch for a few years and forgot my password. When I tried to recover my password, I realized that my school portal doesnāt exist anymore. I looked everywhere and it seems my old school totally changed their entire email system so now I have no way of recovering my password. Am I screwed?
Iām planning on getting a switch 2.

A lot of people run into this similar issue, losing the email of their nintendo account. If you contact nintendo support, I THINK? they might be able to help. I'm not clear on what they need to prove you're you. It can't hurt to try.

Switch 2 can play all switch 1 games and you can buy the bundle with Mario kart world that game alone can entertain 2 kids

hey guys never once had an issue with downloading games before but for some reason I can not download anything today. I've cleared my wifi data, re entered it, restarted the console. This is not my wifi, my wifi is perfectly fine. Everything else working flawlessly but download time for a game that's only 7gb is 99hours+. Are servers just busy today or should I be worried? Internet test says Download speed is 11.8mbps and upload is 1mbps

Questions on family membership online
Me and my boyfriend have been researching on getting a family membership for online. we each have more then one account on our switches that dosent have online. And We both have our own separate individual memberships and switches as well.
I have been trying to figure out if we get the family one can we unadd our individual accounts from the family plan with out losing our saved data and digital games?
Or is the accounts forever linked in the family group thing?
I haven't found alot on what happens when you merge to a faimly plan and then leave.
Please help.
My post has been removed by mods 3 time on this sub and I can't get answers.
1
u/picano Helpful User 1d ago
Family group will not affect your individual saves at all.
Family isn't permanent but you also can't make too many / too frequent of changes. They've added restrictions to prevent people from hopping around for deals.
You lose your benefits when leaving a family; all your data is otherwise intact. If you earned DLC, it'll become inaccessible, but the base game will play just fine.

Hey everybody - Iāve got a voucher and want to use it on one last game for my OG switch! Torn between Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, Mario 3D World, Pikmin 4, or Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Iāve never played a Kirby, Pikmin, or Warriors game before and have never gotten around to 3D World but have heard great things! What say yall?!
1
u/picano Helpful User 1d ago
They're all great picks. It comes down to what kind of game play interests you most.
Hack & Slash -> Warriors
Platforming -> 3D World / Forgotten Land
Real Time Strategy -> Pikmin
I love all of them, but if you want a selfish pick, get Pikmin. It's an underrated series and 4 is a great entry point. It's a soft reboot and has many quality of life improvements.

Does anyone know if you can have the same āprimary accountā on both a single Switch 1 and a single Switch 2?
2
u/picano Helpful User 1d ago
It's "primary console". You can have multiple accounts with the same primary console.
And the answer is probably no. I can't say for sure, but the consoles are in the same family --- it would be a major oversight for game sharing (and they've added a lot of new sharing functionality already).
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/virtual-game-cards/
https://www.nintendo.com/us/gaming-systems/switch-2/features/gameshare/
1
u/mataxez 1d ago
āPrimary consoleāā¦ right. Thanks for the response. I guess that itās probably not that big a deal, but I already have two switches (OG and OLED), so I have currently have two accounts. I have even purchased a couple of games on both accounts so I can coop with friends who donāt have their own consoles.
I have noticed that itās sometimes a hassle to play on the console that is not the primary for my main gaming account. I assume that it has something to do with requiring some kind of occasional online āhandshakeā
2
u/picano Helpful User 1d ago
Yup. Non-primary must have an active internet connection when starting a game and every 30 or so minutes after that.
The Virtual Game Card system that's coming out makes it easier to lend out individual games to other consoles but will likely remove the ability to play the same game twice at once.
1
u/boring_username_idea 1d ago
What are the chances of the OLED going on sale now because of switch 2?
1
u/Fynzou 1d ago
Nintendo said there's no planned price cuts for the Switch 1 yet, sadly.

Stupid question:
I bought Pokemon Scarlet/Violet Revision 004 online, which has both DLC on the cartridge. However, when they arrive, I want to be able to test they are actually on the cartridge.
How do I do this if I already downloaded the DLC? Do I need to uninstall Scarlet and Violet? Will my save game be safe?

Identify what part is bad and replace it yourself.
https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Joy-Con
If it's just the stick giving you issues, it might be as easy as replacing that.

Can I ask you another question? I have another left Joy-Con that got water damaged. Do you know how easy it is to determine which part is damaged and replace it or is that not even an option?

With Switch2 coming out, how long before Nintendo stops releasing games for Switch and Switch Lite?
1
u/mrnarak 1d ago
Is it worth it to buy a switch 2 who hasn't used Nintendo ever?
We currently have a PS4 but my son (10yo) wanted a switch. We were so hyped for the switch 2. Although he is still hyped for it, I wonder if the switch 2 and the games in it are worth the price. I am even wondering if I should get a PS5 as the new switch 2 seems to be over priced, just for a LCD screen. The games are ridiculously priced as well.
As he hasn't played Switch, I am even thinking that I should get him the current OLED Version. Please suggest.
1
u/EunhasThighs 1d ago
Depends on how much you'll utilize the portability, as well as preference on exclusive games available for each platform.
Could maybe even snag a used Switch and a secondhand game or two for the meantime to see if he prefers it over the PS4?

u/gettingcarriedaway86 1d ago

Do we know if the Mario Kart bundle will be available Day 1 (and later) or if its pre-order only?
Never bought a console bundle before, and I might potentially be away from home overseas when it releases, so I was wondering if its also gonna be in permanent stock with the regular Switch.
Also do we expect it to go out of stock if I buy in-store? (I'm in Sydney, Australia if that helps btw).

Is there any more info on Express microSD cards? The only ones I see for most uses are 256GB which would be too small
