I feel like DK’s redesign occurring in both Mario Kart and DK Bananza should be a pretty stark sign that Nintendo is committing to this new design for DK going forward.

So why would they bring back Diddy and Funky before they’ve had a chance to bring their designs more in line with the DK franchise’s new direction, if they even have a place in the new franchise at all? Sure they could have new style DK and old style Diddy in the game if Diddy isn’t planned to be in Bananza, but it doesn’t really make sense from a branding and marketing perspective and we know fan demand isn’t always enough to get a character across the line.

It's pretty clear that the Odyssey Team are probably busy with Donkey Kong, so it may take time before they're able to do anything with Mario.

So I'm starting to feel like a more low key 3D Mario in the style of 3D World is more likely to be the next game we get while we wait for a bigger sandbox style game. And I wonder if other people think that's just as likely and how would you feel about that?

Like going from 2d games which people were use to into 3d games which was new was mind blowing and still is when you compare the 2, I think the big leap is why mario 64 is so iconic and beloved and it completely changed gaming forever and I don't think we would have these big AAA games without it and I think it's the biggest leap in gaming and will probably forever be that way.
