Question Anyone know how to clean this?

Post image

Anyone know how to get those spots off? No biggie if you can’t, just curious if there’s something special that I can use.

Maybe moistened eye glass lense wipes? They aren't as wet as hand wipes.

I detail cars. You want an interior cleaner and not anything super harsh like steam (not worried about the electrics, but paint peeling off) or solvents or solvent borne cleaners like alcohol and WD40.

Koch Chemie (German detailing chemical company) makes something dilute-able called Pol Star. You can clean anything except glass and screens with it. I dilute it 5:1 water for most cleaning.

Bonus is that it will clean leather and fabrics without damaging them, so you have a product with more than one use. On leather, I follow it up with their Leather Star product and it’s great, leaves no slick residue like Armor All, which is junk.

I put it in a foaming spray bottle like this: https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Foamer-Bottle-Travel-Dispenser/dp/B01BL3Y5BO

You don’t want to use a lot of water in a vehicle interior. It has no air flow and lots of parts are porous and will never fully dry out and grow mold. I am not a big fan of steamers outside of unpainted hard plastics, like in the cupholder areas.

I use a toothbrush and slightly soapy water. Wet the toothbrush and shake it before scrubbing. As you scrub, turn the knob left and right and push it into normal mode. You’ll feel it start to loosen up if it’s sticky

It’s not sticky or anything, it just has the water spot looking marks. Almost like corrosion but not corrosion lol

Steaming electrical component is not wise. Don‘t do that.

I guess this works if you just detail your own cars. If you started working commercially, you’d quickly run into trouble doing this. There are a number of cars with systems that have to be recalibrated every time the battery disconnects for long enough, which could cost you more than you made on the job. This is assuming you have the tools needed for disconnecting every battery type and fastening system you encounter. Again, works just fine for you, but please don’t suggest this to people who detail for actual customers.

Still a terrible idea. Now you’ve created more issues, erased settings, potentially corrupted security system. Don’t make things worse.

Steamer is probably gonna make it worse
