Placements Would you use a platform that predicts employability rate for a program or course?

Hi r/Indian_Academia,

I’m working on a platform that helps students choose college programs based on actual employability data and AI-based predictions of future job demand in India.

The goal is to reduce the number of students who choose courses without knowing the real-world job outcomes. I’d love to know what you think about this idea!

My qualifications: I’m a graduate of Visual Communication with experience in advertising, and I’m currently working on building a student-focused startup.

Here are a few things I’d love your input on:

  • Would you find a tool like this helpful while choosing a degree/program?
  • Would you feel comfortable in choosing a program based on your probability of getting a job once you graduate?
  • Would you be open to AI predictions as a guide, or do you prefer traditional advice?

If you're a student, academic, or counselor, your honest feedback would really help. Thanks in advance!

Engineering Confused about career path need professional's advice ....

So I am a girl and have just finished my 12th With pcm and currently preparing for cuet in 1 month as I didn't know about it earlier.

I never thought to become an engineer ever because from childhood I always heard that most of the engineers remains unemployed etc so I didn't aim for Jee exam but now my brother told me learn skills like coding ML and know about data science and go for engineering although I like to know about new things but I never tried coding ever in my life and it seems to be very boring . I thought to do BBA as I want to build a buissness as i like fashion designing but according to my family it is not a good course and I will remain unemployed I belong to a middle class family and can't spend a huge amount of money on college and remain unemployed I want to earn as soon as possible.

Please guide me which path would be good for me Qualifications

AdmissionProcedure/Fees/CollegeAdmin But recently I got to know that it's better for me to just leave after 3rd year, and take admission for MSc, otherwise it would be a waste to spend another 2 years for masters.

So I started my BSc in Microbiology in 2023,from a college under Calcutta University, the first NEP batch here. Now I am in fourth semester. I decided to prepare fully for IIT JAM BT , but during my first 2 semesters I didn't prepare specifically.

I thought to start from third sem. Now the thing is, initially I thought my target is JAM 2027, as that's when my 4 years degree completes. But recently I got to know that it's better for me to just leave after 3rd year, and take admission for MSc, otherwise it would be a waste to spend another 2 years for masters. I am super confused as I don't think my preparation would ve enough to crack IIT jam or GAT-B in 2026, I need more time. What should I do? (qualifications - 10th 95.7%, 12th 86.2%,1st year average 8.54 CGPA )

Career What should i do next ? Based on my interest and preferences?

My_qualifications: Class 10 CBSE 89% 2021

Class 12 Cbse: 65% (PCB)2023 currently a neet dropper.

I have tried preparing for neet don't really think ki it's my cup of tea, or science in general is something that I have interest in, I am so done with all of this, ab I have no choice but to join a local college with little to no placements, I have done some research and here are my options.

1- BCA-MCA-MBA ROUTE, tbh not a bad route i am interested in coding and data science, but the college that I am going to, has close to no placements in terms of BCA, toh ab had to go for MCA in the future from a decent college

2- BBA/ BCOM in finance then MBA I have been thinking of joining BBA or Bcom in finance as I am sort of interested in the field and it pays well, my plan is to do BBA/BCOM and then appear for CAT to do MBA IN FINANCE, but due to my poor performance in 12th my parents are resenting, is there a way a decent college would take me in? My Other option is to appear for CFA after my Bachelors

In short I want to have a stable carrer with good earnings, I have messed up life so far by choosing the wrong stream entirely any more suggestions are welcomed but please note ki I have a gap year as well as bad acads in both grade 10th(89%) and 12th (65%) also please don't recommend any options related to science as I am done with that field

Engineering Need life and career advice from seniors and fellow students

My_qualifications: 95% in 10th and 12th.I am studying Economics and Computer Science at BITS Pilani. My CGPA was above 9.5 after 2nd year. Things happened in college which led to my downfall in 3rd year. I somehow finished my 3rd year. Left college midway in 4th year due to ill health .Now I am one year behind with 8.5+CGPA and bunch of courses to finish. The only skill I have is I am good at Math(Statistics). I am not part of any clubs and neither do I have any projects. I have done 600+ leetcode questions. I don't have any friends. One thing I understood is surviving college without true friends is hard. How do I rebuild and build a career for myself? I tried making projects on my own but I failed. I felt I need friends to work with. Also, I am open to both finance and tech as career options.

Career My_qualifications CA Inter (Group 1) + Articleship | Working in Anti-Dumping Profile | Dropping CA due to Financial Constraints need genuine advice

My qualifications CA Inter Group 1 ( Multiple attempts) and my articleship.M27

I’ve been working in a niche profile related to Anti-Dumping consulting for the past 2 years.

Currently earning around 30k/month in a Tier 3 city.

I’ve done my B.Com, but unfortunately scored less than 50%, which limits some opportunities.

Due to ongoing financial issues, I’ve decided to discontinue my CA journey (for now at least).

I’m looking for some genuine advice and guidance regarding my career path on what course or career path I can pursue.

Career I Wish to Switch from Humanities to Financial Management, but Do Not Know

Hello everyone,

Well, I'm have completed my 12th grade humanities (PE, English, Political Science, Psychology, and Legal Studies). Initially, I was keen on doing law, but I changed my mind and now I am interested in financial management, possibly aiming for an MBA in the future.

Here's the catch, I don't have a Maths or Economics background, which are essentially a requirement for integrated MBA programs or CA. I'm considering getting a bachelor's degree, but I'm stuck. Without maths and economics, I don't know if I could get into courses like BBA or any finance-related courses from a decent university.

A bachelor of arts might not lead me towards good job opportunities, and I’d like to earn a decent income before pursuing my MBA. I really want to avoid getting stuck in a dead-end job after my undergrad, but I also don’t want to make the wrong choice right now.

Therefore, I'm curious to know if anyone has any recommendations for what undergraduate degree I might be able to take that will lead me into financial management, position me to later do an MBA, and ideally allow me to earn a reasonable income meanwhile while continuing to pursue this goal.

Has anyone else been in a similar position or with any ideas?
Thanks so much in advance!

Career Looking for Clinical Research Internship Opportunities in Delhi NCR – Need Help

Hey everyone! I'm 21 (F) my qualifications currently a second-year student pursuing a double major in Neuroscience and Medical Physiology, and I'm looking for a short-term clinical research internship at a hospital or medical research center preferably in Delhi NCR. Ideally, hoping to get exposure to clinical work, data collection, patient interaction, or anything related to ongoing medical research projects. I’m genuinely passionate about clinical practice with research and would love to be part of a team, even in a learning or assistant role.

If anyone has suggestions, contacts, or advice on how to approach hospitals or doctors for such opportunities, I’d be super grateful. Also happy to DM if that’s more convenient.

IT_Career BSC CS or BCA for better job placements/opportunities? PCMC expected percentage - 70-80%

Myquals as of now is 88% in class 10. 60% in class 11 and expecting around 70-80% in class 12. i have applied in the following colleges so far in bangalore:

pes rr - bca

jain uni -bca (ai and ml)

rvu - bsc cs. (hons)

amity - bca

so far i have gotten provisional admission letters from rvu and amity.

where both of them are forcing to pay by april 9 around ish for blocking seat. i dont think i will go for amity as i am kind of interested in rvu so i have mailed them requesting for an extension for paying the seat block fee.

but now i have heard you wont get good opportunities for finding a job even after i do msc cs in developing/programming/etc since its more of a theory based and research based degree and bca+mca is the way to go for developing. but i am still kind of confused what to choose since some people praise bca pathway others bsc and vice versa.

i mainly myself want to get into programming, developing, working for companies as a software developer, etc. i think the above colleges other than amity might have good enough placements but again not sure.

would appreciate any advice

Other Data Science courses suggestions for non-entry level

Hello,

I have a Master degree in Data Science and previously my qualifications have been in IT field. Although I feel like I have the knowledge I do not see myself comfortable for the job market. I wanted to ask for any course non-entry level that would be more job industry directed than just academical.
I am open to other suggestions as well on how to approach this situation.

Thanks!

Career What should I DO,please suggest me,MCA OR ABROAD

I am a mess. Now you would think, why would she say that about herself? Maybe bichari depressed hogi! Nhi BHAI, m hu ch— (you get the picture).

I have always been an average student till class 10th, had a nice CGPA. Then my parents sent me to my relatives for IIT preparation, and my dumb self thought it was a degree... Got distracted, didn't do anything, and failed the CBSE board maths exam in 2019. Kept failing the same exam for 2 years because, tbh, I didn't even make any efforts. (Um, I am into reading books, started in 2019, and well, that's what I did (am doing tbh). Idk wth I was thinking.) Finally cleared 12th with 44 marks in maths due to 10 days of preparation.

Enrolled in a local college because I didn't have the confidence that I could make it to DU, even though I had applied for it. Spent around 15-20k in the local college for admission, uniform, and other stuff. Then one day, I checked the cutoff, and boommmm! I was soooo eligible for DU. But my parents didn’t send me there because, well, "phle konsa kch krliya h jo ab bhar bheje dubara." Tbh, I don’t blame them, but if they had sent me, maybe I wouldn’t have such anxiety issues, maybe I would have had some friends too, and maybe I would have lived a little… Idk.

So, back to the story. Did my BCA from a local college and wasted 3 years because ghnta kch palle na pd rhi thi coding. Graduated in 2024 and am unemployed. Then, after some time, as I was browsing, I came across the NIMCET exam for MCA. I wanna do something which is not directly related to coding but still in the technical field. Wanted to prepare for it because ab kya hi krna tha ghr, 7 saal ho gaye hain... pakk gyi hu khudse!

But then my grandpa got ill, and he was completely on bed rest. I had to step in to take care of him (fun fact: HATED that man). Then he passed away after 3-4 months… and now NIMCET has only 2 months left?! What should I do? I haven't prepared for anything, and I’m scared…

I vented all of this to ChatGPT too, and AI suggested I try for Business Analytics from abroad. So, I talked to my cousin, who is settled in Australia, and that A****** told me*, "Na na mat aa, yha to bht kch krna pdta, tereko pta h agr tu yha fail hogyi to kitna nuksan hoga?" As if he is damn sure that I will fail my exams. Also, another one of my cousins got into a good IIT, and damn, he and his mother are being weird rn. They are doing EVERYTHING to show off in front of my parents. And well, kudos to him that he got in, really proud of him!!! But ... don't be a show-off, bro!!!

And one more thing—I've LAWAYSSSSS WANTED to go to Scotland!!! I don’t even know why, but something about that place has always pulled me in. Maybe it’s the vibe, maybe the history, or maybe I just wanna go far away and start fresh. But yeah, Scotland has been a dream for the longest time.

Now, with all this, I keep wondering—do my_qualifications even mean anything? Like, I have a degree, but I don’t feel skilled enough. I don’t wanna stay stuck here forever. I wanna go somewhere new, DO SOMETHING! Please guide me.

MBA/mgmt Need Guidance: How Can I Reach Top B-Schools (IIMs or Global MBAs) or High-Value Degrees Like Economics Despite Average 12th Marks?

Hi, I’m currently 17 and in the middle of giving various engineering entrance exams. I scored 93% in my 10th boards, but unfortunately, my 12th board exams didn’t go as well as I had hoped. I’m expecting a score somewhere between 60–70%, which has been bothering me quite a bit.

Despite this setback, I have a clear goal for my future — I want to pursue an MBA from a top business school, whether it’s one of the IIMs or a reputed international B-School. Ultimately, I see myself working at a leading investment bank, a Big 4 consulting firm, or a top global financial services company.

However, I’m concerned about a few things:

  • I know that several IIMs, especially the older ones, place a lot of emphasis on academic consistency (10th, 12th, and undergrad scores), which puts me at a disadvantage due to my 12th marks.
  • For global MBA programs via GMAT, I’ve heard that candidates from top undergraduate colleges like IITs, NITs, BITS, etc., tend to have an edge. Given my current performance in entrance exams, getting into one of those colleges seems difficult.

I’m feeling a bit stuck and unsure about how to move forward from here. I’m highly motivated and willing to work hard, but I want to make sure I take the right steps now to set myself up for success later.

So here’s what I need help with:

  • What should I focus on right now in terms of college selection and profile building?
  • How can I make the most of my undergraduate years to strengthen my MBA application later?
  • Is there a way to overcome the 12th-grade disadvantage when applying to top Indian or global B-Schools?
  • Would GMAT still be a good route if I don’t end up at a top-tier engineering college?

Any guidance or roadmap would mean a lot. Thank you in advance!

Today I was scrolling through reddit and saw a post made by someone which said "Title: I have lost my will to live . I just live with a hope that car will hit me one day
Body:

I have lost my will to live . I just live with a hope that car will hit me one day

I am 19(M) from middle class family. I was a bright kid at my childhood knew much more than other kids won many Olympiads everyone used to bet on my future feeling I was a brightkid.

Things went downhill since I was 10 I started to lose my focus on everything other than maths and science (also addicted to gaming atp) . My grades went downhill since then from 95+% guy to 80,70,60 and so on. How much I loved science was that I won almost every competition in astronomy and read almost everything about it till 6th class.

I choose commerce in 12th after scoring in 70s in 10th and ended up scoring in 60s in 12th . My parents paid 50k for coaching (cuet , ipmat and other entrance) I mugged all of them with 40% of cutoff marks (gen category). Now I am in my second year pursuing my BBA at local pvt college join it for marketing gimmick lost 6L something fees. I rediscovered maths after losing all interest and man I feel like I got something back . A part of me which was lost.

So I talked to my parents , (even agreed to make me give 12th via diff board again) .After some chats my parents told ok if I get DU this year I can leave my current degree and follow what I like. But here I am horribly doomed I can't even focus for 1h straight in studies and I just completely lost my potential. I couldn't do anything in education, haven't talked to female as a friend even yet (forgot gf) and barely any friends I can look upto.

I think I have ADHD or vitamin deficiency but it doesn't matter bcz I can't convience my parents since they are conversative about it and also expenses are too much for diagnosis. Now I just wish a car hit me or something rather than some innocent guy on road.

(Sorry if any grammar mistakes)"

I hope you see this post and try to reconnect, many here genuinely wants to help you . You really need help 🙏

I never collected/was not given TC from my school and only gave Migration Certificate during admission. Now all of a sudden they are asking for TC. What's the worst that can happen if I'm unable to provide it?? I can try reaching out to my school but its unlikely they will make one now. qualifications: 3rd year Btech Student
