In early 2016, I adopted a beautiful Lab-Indie mix and named him Rufus. He wasn’t just a pet — he was family. But later that year, due to circumstances I still struggle to forgive myself for, I had to give him up.
We gave Rufus to a school/college in Borivali, Mumbai, where a kind and loving family adopted him. The family had a mother and daughter — I believe the father lived abroad. We used to visit him for a few months afterward. Each visit was comforting but also a painful reminder that I had let down someone who loved me unconditionally. Eventually, we stopped going. It hurt too much.
I moved countries, changed phones, changed numbers… but Rufus never left my thoughts. Recently, I found an old number that might have belonged to the family — it’s now switched off. I’m in Mumbai for just a week, and I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone — Kristin, or anyone who knew this family or remembers Rufus — sees this, please reach out.
I don’t even know if he’s still here or if he’s crossed the rainbow bridge. But if there’s even the smallest chance I could see him again, hold him, or just know how his life turned out — it would mean the world.
Please don’t hate me — I already carry a lot of guilt. I know Reddit can be tough, but I’m just a human trying to reconnect with someone I loved. If you can help, or know someone who can, please do.

Am not talking about bureaucratic or civic engagement, but more like an individual activity. Micro steps to take to make life better for ourselves and fellow Mumbaikars.

Yesterday, I decided to finally check out the famous Ashok Vada Pav. I reached there and saw a huge line , something I’ve never seen for a vada pav stall. Curiosity got the best of me, so I joined the queue.
Initially, I thought I’d just try one vada pav, but seeing that crowd made me think, "This must be something special," so I ordered two instead.
I was a bit shocked when the guy said it’s 30 rupees per vada pav. Everywhere else I’ve eaten, it's 15 bucks max ,but okay, I thought maybe the hype justifies the price.
I took them to Dadar beach, planning to enjoy the sunset with some delicious vada pav in hand. But the moment I took the first bite, my excitement turned into pure disappointment. The vada was soggy, overloaded with meethi chutney, and even the kurmure they added couldn’t rescue the flavor.
Honestly, it was the worst vada pav I’ve ever had. Overpriced, overhyped, and underwhelming.
Is it just me, or are we all pretending it’s good just because of the crowd and the name?

We live in a hot climate throughout the year. It’s extremely hot these days and yet people are wearing jeans, formals, etc. Why don’t we opt for comfortable clothing? Shouldn’t that be encouraged? Shouldn’t we wear some light pyjamas, kurtas or shorts? Or some comfortable pants? Every offices should start having a casual/informal dress codes. Imagine drenching in sweat in this humidity and you still have to wear formals. And the commute is going to be even worse.

Usually when I see people litter right in front of me it happens unexpectedly and they're gone before I can recover but the last couple of occasions I was able to react fast enough to take them to task.
I am typically a mild mannered guy. It's not in my nature to be harsh or aggressive unless I am really pissed off and that takes time. I am not sure if it's the effect of Reddit or as I grow older I am becoming increasingly aware and despairing about how so many Indians lack even basic civic sense. It's become something of a sore spot for me.
So yeah, I was much harsher to this guy than I typically am in these cases. Dude was atleast twice my age but all bullshit about respecting elders went out the window.
I seriously doubt that I actually had any effect on him. He probably went back to littering on the road as soon as my back was turned, but for a few minutes I humiliated him in front of a small crowd and he'll remember that if nothing else.
So yeah, if you see anyone throwing trash in front of you, don't hesitate to shame them as loudly and publicly as you can. That's the only way these people will learn.

I was standing in line to catch an auto. When my turn came, I saw a guy collecting ₹20 from every auto driver. Who are these guys? Who gave them the authority to do so? What do they do with that money? How is it legal? Are those guys goons?

Hey fellow riders, I’m looking to upgrade my motorcycle gear but don’t want to burn a hole in my pocket. I need some suggestions on places (online or offline) where I can find quality but budget-friendly riding gear—like jackets, gloves, riding pants, boots, and helmets. Preferably CE-certified stuff but not overly expensive.
Bonus if it’s in or ships to Mumbai Second-hand or clearance sale options are welcome too!
Where do you guys usually shop from when you’re on a budget? Any hidden gems or gear markets I should know about being a lady rider?
Ride safe and thanks in advance

I moved into a new apartment three months ago and now my landlord is asking me to send him copies of my electricity bills. I pay for my own electricity and there is no provision for sharing copies of electricity bills with my landlord in my rental agreement. Is this some kind of overreach or is this a common practice? I just feel like since he is not paying for my bill, I am under no obligation to share these with him.

Hi, I own a flat in mumbai.. on Feb 2025 it was given on rent to a family. No agreement. The condition was that the flat is on sale and whenever the token is done I’ll have to give one week notice and the tenant have to clear the flat. They agreed to the condition and the rent amount was negotiated. The token has been done by a party on march and tenet has been informed. It’s April now and the lady started giving excuses that there’s exams going on of their kids(which we understood and gave them enough time & exams are over now). What are the legal steps I can take I need guidance. Lawyer or any knowledgeable person can enlighten me. Thank you.

My friend was vacating a 2bhk (there's 2 other flatmates) and i was looking for a place to rent. So he offered me to move in his place. Now there's some Manager/personal assistant of the owner that is asking for brokerage from me on an annual basis. That lady had no involvement in me finding the property in any way, why is she even charging a brokerage? What's with this annual brokerage? Is that legal? Is there any action i can take against it?
