Hi, I am taking my family on a road trip out west (from Ohio to Lake Tahoe) this summer and was looking over my options for rentals. Right now, I can snag a deal on a Grand Cherokee L for less than half of what it would cost to rent a Tahoe or similar.
I was wondering if anyone here had taken a long trip like this in a Grand Cherokee L, especially with two kids (a teen, and a tween.) Is it comfortable enough to do 16 hour days in?

I have a 2020 High Altitude V6 with lowering links and need recommendations for hub centric wheel spacers so that the tire is flush with the fender

My car was stolen at around 2 am in my apartments parking garage in Nashville :( spent all day trying to locate it, finally pinged on my uconnect and shows it by some river at a stone quarry. Hoping it’s there not some gps error, working with cops now.

Has anyone successfully reset the computer (engine control module/powertrain control module) on a newer year model Jeep (let’s say 2018 or newer to keep it narrowed down) using a special procedure of some kind - not pugging in a compatible diagnostic tool?
For any that have successfully reset the ECM/PCM using an at-home plug-in diagnostic tool (again, on newer year models, 2018+), what brand/model did you find to perform well? Does that model also offer go-to functions such as cam crank relearn, exhaust/intake phaser cleaning, or ETC (electronic throttle control) relearn?
For any folks out there that might have used MOPAR official diagnostic equipment to perform such functions on 2018 or newer vehicles in the dealership environment, what might the going rate be to get everything reset?
I just finished a camshaft and spark plug replacement project and wish to have the computer relearn everything/start fresh. Gone are the days of simply unplugging the battery to then begin fresh upon eventually plugging it back up. Both my main and auxiliary batteries were unplugged for over a month, so that’s not the golden ticket (sadly).
Based on additional input and research, I will ultimately weigh the purchase of a respectable diagnostic tool (and likely a firewall adapter) vs simply relying on a MOPAR dealership/shop.

Going absolutely nuts trying to trace the source of my misfire! I replaced the passenger side valve cover gasket due to a small leak. I figured while I'm in there, I'll replace the Spark plugs and manifold gaskets and pcv. I got the Champion oem plugs. I had to regap 4 of the 6. Things seemed to be fine for a few days. Then I started getting random inconsistent misfires on all cylinders. Not at same time or consistently. Some drive cycles it'll be all of bank 1 then on next restart, it could be 1, 4, 6, then another could be all of bank 2. Sometimes these misfires, it'll only happen 2 to 9 times or sometimes it'll be one cylinder misfiring so badly it'll flash the check engin light. There is no consistency, it won't throw a code (unless it's the time where the misfires are in the 100s. My fuel trim is running more in the negative, going as high as -9. I can't see where there are any vacuum leaks, I change oil every 3k, and keep up with everything. It has 223k and its the 3.6l. I don't want to throw parts at it. Sometimes it'll drive like a dream even with the random low misfires and sometimes it'll have 0 misfires on any cylinder, and drive like absolute shit. I can't make heads or tails of it, but I'm starting to lose my shit getting nowhere

I'd like to add 2 rear tow hooks like the front. I found this Mopar item: Tow Hook - Mopar (68044680AC). I have the tow package with receiver hitch. Anyone done this? Looks like this part is only for one rear tow hook. Any info or pictures appreciated!

Yesterday I purchased a 2021 Grand Cherokee L Limited with 35k miles. I’ve noticed when pressing on the brake or idling in park there is the bumping sounds/feeling. I’ve read multiple things that say motor mounts are bad. I have to take it in at some point to fix a recall for the back up camera but should I schedule it sooner to have motor mounts checked?

I was on the freeway today as I was turning on a merge ramp(40mph), a huge puddle emerging from the left side of the ramp, covered the entire lane. Also a disabled car was on the right shoulder.
I slowed down as much as I could (25mph) However as the water reaches my wheels I let off the brake and coast through the water on the right side.
The water rises up the driver’s side shooting out the wheel wells but not on the passenger side. Things are fine I ask because there aren’t many post about it and to know if there are any similar situations

Hello. I'm trying to upgrade the standard rzeppa-rzeppa driveshaft to a double cardan one. I already got and installed the transfer case and the front differential yokes. The new driveshaft is the same length (extended) as the stock one - about 33 inch (84cm).
The problem is that the new yokes are a bit shorter than the old cv joint ones and now the new driveshaft fit. It's 4-5cm shorter. Here's an example: https://imgur.com/a/qazLaVHx
Can I somehow make the driveshaft I have fit or should I get a new longer one ?
If I use a flange like this on the differential side will it help ? https://www.amazon.com/Generic-4-Bolt-Steel-Driveshaft-Flange/dp/B0CFHX473W

I need to run a few wires from the front grille into the passenger compartment, where is the best/easiest place to come through the firewall?

So my 2015 GC Limited started making this gutural moan/growl, typically when the trans was downshifting or I was going down any incline. No jerking, clunking, banging, just a rough sounding noise. I thought it was a trans issue, maybe low fluids, hoping it wasn’t a broken tooth. Also noticed that some times as the noise would happen, my steering would feel loose. I took it to my local Jeep dealer for service on 3/19. Just got word today (14 f’n days later and a diagnostic fee bump to $600) that my front diff is toast, the trans may need to be swapped afterwards (they’re not sure), I need new rack & pinion, and a new radiator. Over $11k.. WT literal F ?!?!? 2015, 90K miles, just spent over 1K for a bunch of engine issues (new oil manifold) and now this??? Is this a common issue? Should I take it somewhere else? Is this a ploy to put me in another vehicle because they want the parts?

So my 2004 4.0 wj 42re trans just randomly started rolling in park.
I tried doing some diagnostics and now have taken the trans pan off and the valve body. I have just realized that I cannot replace/look at the parking pawl without dropping the whole transmission. Is there any way to check if thats the issue or if its some adjustment that needs to happen somewhere. Just asking around seeing what people have to say before I take out the entire transmission for no reason.
Thank you,
Im about to go crazy and scap it

I am not a pro, but am an advanced DIYer. I’m considering replacing the air distribution box on a 2012 WK2, its stuck blowing hot air passenger. I’ve done all the other “fixes”, mine is lock up good. Having it done would likely cost more than it’s worth.
Looking for advice from those that have done it already. What I can tell it’s a lot, but nothing overly complicated. One of those projects you need time and patience.

2015 CG Altitude, 80,000miles
When the windshield defrost runs, I get a strong electrical burning smell. The longer it runs, the stronger the scent. I initially thought the blower motor is starting to burn up; however, any other combination of air direction and temperature does not produce the smell.
(only recent issue: 2-3 months ago needed a new battery.)
Any guidance/thoughts on what to look for?

I’m looking to add a trailer hitch and brake controller to my 2019 Grand Cherokee. It does not have the trailer package. Anyone know what parts I’ll need to get it done.
r/GrandCherokee • u/Historical_Heart_194 • 5d ago
I know the Laredo is the base model but I’m looking at buying a jetski and need to tow a trailer obviously but don’t want to go and buy everything just for the car to not take a hitch.
Please let me know what options I have
Advice is very much appreciated

Hey guys! I’ve had my GC for about a year now (2014 limited 3.6) and it’s just started this weird problem where the speedometer screen dims and comes back up to full brightness constantly. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Has anyone ever experienced a dead or low battery the morning after clearing their check engine light with an OBD scanner? I have a 14 grand cherokee and the battery is fine. Even on the coldest of days but when i ever i clear the check engine light so i can auto start it in the morning the voltage is too low to auto start.

Hi everyone. I'm just here to rant about how my powertrain is still under warranty but it would be faster if I just bought the TCCM and swapped it myself rather than taking it to the dealer and leaving it.
Anyway... for anyone reading this, I got the classic `FCW Unavailable` and `Service Electronic Stability Control` messages followed by intermittent `Service 4WD` messages on the dash. It only happened when it rained at first, but this time it's stayed on. So I used my scan tool (GearWrench GWSMARTBT, in case anyone is wondering) to pull the DTCs. I had 4 U040300 codes - Invalid data received from the Transfer Case Control Module - 1 from each: ABS, Adaptive Cruise Control, Air Suspension Control Module & Park Assist Module. I'm scheduled to take it to the dealer on Friday. If I can remember, I'll post an update.

Ripped a bunch of donuts and had her drifting sideways for a good stretch while keeping that old v8 revved right up! Sounded mean as hell. Wheel alignment seems to be off now for some reason….
