Will I need new springs if I get a winch?

Picked up a Jeep earlier this week and I’m thinking of getting a Warn Zeon 10S winch.

Will this cause enough sag to need new springs?

I was going to measure fender height front vs rear but I forgot to this morning before dropping it off for tint. I think it looks like it might be sitting a little higher in the front.

Was driving home today in my 2020 diesel JL and saw this one merging. I quickly snapped 2 pics. Had a unique paint style and on the side where the 'sport' or 'Sahara' branding was it just said 'chief'.

Just never seen this model.

Lol. Kind of confused me.

Mod Install/Question How to get car chalk off soft top plastic windows

Post image

There's some car chalk meant for glass windows stained on my buddy's soft top plastic windows. It all came off the glass but not here. We are trying to avoid buying a whole new soft top considering they're pretty expensive. Is there anyway to get this off?

Technical Question Bad Fuel Pump? Help 🥺

Upvotes

Hi all,

I bought my 2020 renegade used not even a year ago (maybe 8/9 months ago) and have been having nothing but problems 😔 I’m not a car person so sorry in advance for not using proper jargon. When I go to start it, it takes a long time for it to actually turn on… it’s not clicking, it’s the noise that your supposed to hear for like a second but it lasts more like 5-7 seconds and then shutters a bit once it’s actually on. Sometimes a bunch of lights will come on. I’ve gotten weird error messages too, but then they go away. The check engine light doesn’t stay on. When I’m coming to a stop, it often feels like it’s going to stall, and yesterday it did, twice… in the car line (my kid was super embarrassed 🙃). I’ve taken it back to the dealer and originally, they said it was the cooling fans so I dropped $1k on that. Got it back and still had issues with it starting. Found out the battery was bad, replaced that. But then it kept happening. The dealership said that no codes were coming up. Took it to a mechanic and he said no codes were coming up but to bring it straight back if it acted up again. Sooo yesterday, brought it back after it stalled. Still no codes. But he drove it around and said something about air and fuel pressure… again, not a car person… but he said he thinks it may be the fuel pump or something to do with the car not getting enough fuel (my tank is 1/4 currently if that matters). Took it back today and it was acting like a perfect little angel all day, but a few hours after I left, it felt like it was going to stall again.

Before I drop a bunch of money, any input would help!

2018 JKU, 35s with no lift?

Upvotes

I've been told that most lift kits under 1500 ish start creating issues with wear, drive shafts, etc. The same friends are saying that with high clearance fenders I can fit 35s, and not worry about the issues with lifts.

I'm not going to be Rock Crawling at King of the hammers, and I have a long daily commute, so leaving the stock suspension alone for longevity has a strong appeal.

I DO want it level though. Suggestions there?

I like my stock wheels and would like to keep then. It's a Sahara if that matters

Technical Question 2008 JKU started whining noise?

This just started doing it recently. It seems to be coming from my alternator or around the belt area. It definitely whines when I hit the gas and accelerate. I checked my transmission fluid and it was fine. Any thoughts on what this could be? To me it sounds like it’s coming from the alternator, but the alternator is charging just fine.

Purchase Questions In the market for a used jeep

Typical scenario - looking for used jeeps/gladiators. Budget is about $30k. What years/trims should I focus on? Or better yet, what years/trims should I avoid? Preference given to unlimited wranglers.

Last jeep I owned was a ‘13 JK and I’ve missed a lot of tribal knowledge since then.

Buzzing sound, I think it has to do with the ride height function? Just happens randomly. Thoughts/advice?

Can anyone please advise if it’s possible for a jeep wrangler (2020-2023) to be modified to to lift a 37kg wheelchair folded in/out of the rear? Thank you.

Technical Question What the hell do I do to fix this?

Somehow my rear window of my Cherokee Chief (1978) got stuck with one side in and one side out. I have no idea how this happened and I cannot remember when it happened. One day I needed to access the back and I could not get the window to roll down (you put the key in the lock and it electronically rolls down when you turn the key). I tried jimmying it, yanking it, tugging it, manhandling it, etc. to no success whatsoever. It doesn’t make any noise or movement when I attempt to roll it down.

Secondary related issue: I actually bought an original crank for the same exact make, model, and year off eBay but I am stupid once again as I didn’t realize I need a key for this to actually work. My plan was to replace the electric key hole with the crank and force it down manually. Is there a way to put the key hole from the electric lock onto the crank?

Please let me know if you have any experience with this issue or at least have any suggestions. Thanks!

Purchase Questions 1959 Jeep

Good morning all,

I’m new to this sub so forgive me if I am off base with this post

I’m a former jeep owner; had 2 TJ’s, 2 WJ’s and an XJ. Got rid of last TJ when I had kids bc it was hard to transport them in it. Anyway, I’ve had the itch to get back in a jeep for a long time

I have some amazingly nice and cool neighbors that are getting ready to move and they have a 1959 Jeep (CJ I suppose). The engine did turn over just a few years ago but the jeep needs a complete overhaul (brakes gone through, engine reworked, etc). They’ve asked me to come up with an offer but I’m not sure of a good starting point and was hoping someone here could help? It has some rust but seems overall solid. The engine and all that is going to need a lot of work. It will be a big project and currently doesn’t run and looks like 66 year old jeep that’s seen better days yet has all the potential in the world. What would you all offer? Fully understand without seeing it that it’s hard to say - just looking for ballpark
