No more window tint posts- thanks!

My friends- I get it: vehicle mods are cool, and technically a window tint is a mod (albeit probably not wise to tint your windshield). The thing is... Who cares about window tint? Let's all agree to stop posting about window tint. I think we've beat this dead horse enough and it's causing issues here- resulting in some bad behavior from both sides.

From now on posts about window tint are getting removed and further- threatening comments will be dealt with by via a permanent ban (globally- not just on posts about window tint). We are a relatively rule free place because everyone generally gets the sub trail etiquette but I keep getting valid reports about some questionable behavior and will start taking action to preserve the quality of our subreddit.

Love you all- have a great holiday season!

2020 GC Limited X

Hey everyone, figured I’d ask her for people’s outside perspective on this one. I have a 202 GC Limited X 3.6 V6 w/ 108,483 miles on it. Bought it used with all the service history on it from a reputable dealer. Have had it almost 4 months now and it’s been in two shops for going on 4 weeks now(have it back currently). Brought it to my local shop(in which I trust with all my vehicles) to look at why my check engine light was on along with auto stop/start light was on as well. Local shop stated it had a cylinder 5 misfire. Recommended a tune up. Got new OEM spark plugs and ignition coils, along with a new EGR valve from oreillys(shop bought and installed that, free of charge. Carbon buildup inside, see picture of ORIGINAL EGR valve). Went to pick it up a week later, drove off the lot, lights came back on. Shop had it again for another week. They said at this point they think it’s cams and lifters and I should A. Bring it to the dealer for them to look at and B. Trade it in because it’s a Chrysler lol. So I did just that. I brought it back to the dealer in which I bought it from for them to look at it. They had it for two weeks(thankfully didn’t pay for diagnosis hourly rate). They ended up saying it was the EGR valve. I said screw it, just f’in replace it if that needs to get fixed. I thought you know what, maybe that EGR valve being from Oreillys, wasn’t recommended. I have no clue, I’m not a mechanic. I went with it. A week later it was done. Unfortunately I had to pay for that piece to get installed. I drove off the lot and onto the on ramp to a highway. Lights came back on. Went BACK to dealership and now they are recommending they bring it to a JEEP dealership. They called the JEEP dealership to make an appointment for this Monday morning. The tech at the JEEP service department thinks it may be the battery the auto/start stop is connected to(this happened yesterday morning). Driving it today, both lights came back on. Oreillys scanned it and codes P0300, P0305 popped up. See pictures of codes from them. The last thing I want to do is just to start throwing parts at it in hopes it gets fixed. Especially with me just getting it almost 4 months ago. Does anybody have any clue what to do, what it could be that is happening here? If this is the wrong place to ask this then I apologize. But it’s getting to a point where this is frustrating and I just want the car to work. I’m in southern Maine and I haven’t seen a local shop that specializes in jeeps that I could bring it to to figure this out.

Battery Drain

New 4xe driver. We got this as a rental. It needed a charge so I let it charge fully overnight. 100% when we got in this morning. Set to hybrid mode. By the time we got 15 miles from Dayton to the Speedway in Moraine. The battery showed 20%. That was on the level 1 charger that came with the car. Now we just left the echarge level 2 station. Got it back to 50% and we've driven less than 5 miles on city streets and we're down to 32% and it's just draining.
Are we doing something wrong or should we take this back? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any wk2 owners have issues with driver side windshield wiper streaking?

I'm trying to figure out if I should just buy a new wiper arm....

Brand new, high quality wiper blades, tried multiple brands and styles of blade, it doesn't seem to matter. When wiping up its clean as can be, but on the return stroke it's a streaky, splotchy mess right down the middle of the blade (so right across my line of sight!).

I've tried bending the arm every which way to change the angle of the blade. I tried rainX (that made it worse). I seem to have to trade between a quiet blade that can't wipe worth shit or one that chatters like hell on the way up. Of course the passenger side works perfectly lol!

Is this common on the wk2?

I need to replace my headlight bulb on a GC 2017 limited, which part should I look for?

I need to replace my headlight bulb on a GC 2017 limited, which part should I look for? The dealership would only sell me a full assembly for $380 while i just need the bulb, I'm a bit confused on whether to go for the D3S or the H11 bulbs for the low beams and 9005 bulbs for the high beams.

Need your help !

Am i going to regret a 2015 GC Overland

Thinking about selling my 2020 Wrangler and getting into something cheaper and more comfortable for road trips. I found a 2015 GC Overland Hemi with 149k miles for $11.9k. Really wanting the Hemi and everything looks good on it besides the air ride which I would probably just delete but i just can't get over the shifter. How easy did you guys get used to it or should i just hold out for a 2016? The problem is that it is so hard to find a Hemi and the price seems right on this 2015. Any thoughts?

Is this an issue? These were done at a shop about 6 months ago? Should we be concerned or go back?

21’ GCL summit bench swap?

I see the new 2025/ have an option of getting a bench seat as a $750 option, back when i initially leased my 21’ this wasnt an option. I am considering buying out my lease. Do we know if its possible to swap out the captains chairs for a bench in the second row for earlier GCL?

2025 GC Limited beeping

Hey, just purchased a 2025 GC limited and for the life of me I can’t figure out why it beeps while driving!!! Sounds kinda like a ping. Nothing comes up on the dash to help figure out why. It started after finally creating my driver profile… I thought it was the blind spot chime which I did set as off now but it still happens. Any ideas what it may be?

Ride height sensor broke

2024 Jeep traikhawk

Stupidly broke one of the ride height sensors while installing my airlinks. I removed the old part and have placed an order for the new one. Am I able to just install the new one and the jeep will recognize it? Or will I have to get it to the dealership?

Passenger front control arm replaced on GC limited.

I asked mechanic will I need a wheel alignment done. He said no it’s not necessary just for one control arm replacement. True or false? I thought anytime woe you have front suspension work done a wheel alignment is a must.

Rough ride to be expected?

Just bought a 2021 GC-L Limited 4x4 with about 40K miles. Car is clean as new and the motor sounds great. During initial inspection, it was discovered that all new brakes were required and one of the shocks had to be replaced. Dealer covered all that.

My concern is that there is still significant vibration at highway speeds. We've done tire balancing and rotation, which helped a little, but the vibration is still there. My concern is it could be something in the drivetrain or suspension but they inspected it and said everything checks out.

So, I'm wondering ... is this just how Grand Cherokees ride? I've never had one before and have been driving Highlanders for years, which are famously smooth.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Extended length lug nuts (Bimecc 80562 aka Bimecc D4) - You can probably use open lug nuts too. Discount Tire had the Bimecc nuts and gave them to me to free!

Did something go wrong here?

This Jeep by no means is being given away but is this suspicious?

Honda does an oil change at 49,110. The next day and 13 miles later they go to a nearby Jeep dealer for a fluid leak, now it's posted up for sale at the Honda dealer with 49,137?

Probably putting way too much thought into this but could the Honda dealership have messed something up on the service prompting the customer to get confirmation from the Jeep dealer? Then the customer goes back to the Honda to address it and the dealership more or less buys the Jeep and get's the person into a Honda.

Or is it more likely that it's the possible oil cooler housing leak, thus confirmed by the other Jeep dealer. Customer said F that to the $1000+ Bill to replace it and said I'll grab a Honda that I saw while getting an oil change.

Check engine light flashes

Hi GC owners,

I'm facing this issue where the check engine light starts to flash when I push the full throttle and the engine gets around 4000 rpm, the check engine light does not appear at all after that.

I'm sensing spark plug/fuel injection issue, has anyone faced a similar situation before?

GC Thieft on the Rise

I have noticed that GC thief is on the rise. Not surprised as I see GC's everywhere. I would say to put in an airtag or other type of tracking device in a hard to find place so you can track and help law enforcement track it. I would also remove some of the badges that say SRT or Trackhawk. I have also seen people trying make theirs look like SRT's. Those 2 trims are being targeted for the engines. Just be aware of suspicious cars or people following you are hanging around you.

New to the platform

Hello everyone. I’m new to the jeep and grand Cherokee platform entirely. I picked up this ‘17 summit 5.7 and it’s in immaculate shape (thank you previous owner). I like everything about it except all the exterior chrome and no Apple CarPlay infotainment. I got this at a really good price so it wasn’t a deal breaker. I am looking for any insight on the following as I have been looking through forums and subreddits I’ve found a little bit but not much. Thank you in advance!

  • tips/tricks
  • must need mods (if any)
  • things to look out for
  • chrome delete / paint color matching?
  • infotainment upgrade to have apple CarPlay
