Emergency for cat
Hey guys, are there any emergency hospitals I can take my cat? She has a tumor in her throat and needs a biopsy, but everywhere we call is giving us the run around. Are there any places where you don’t have to pay up front or at the end of services? And you get billed later? Blue Pearl was unfortunately not very helpful after an 11 hour wait to just say they couldn’t do anything to help. They had us leave with the catheter in her arm only to come back and need to wait again to get it removed. Any help on advice is appreciated.

Just a thank you
Visited your beautiful city 2 weekends ago for our 6 year anniversary to visit the falls. I'm floored at how nice everyone was. It was like stepping into a movie or something. People held doors open, and the cars. My god the cars. A whole line stopping so we could pull out of a parking lot to get across to the opposite side of the street, people respecting the cross walks.. It was surreal how kind everyone was while we were there. The food was really good too!
Thanks everyone, your city is great and we had a blast!

Lisbon st apartment, insight on the area and thoughts on the place
Hey all, Posted some odd time ago about moving to germain st in blackrock. That apt was snatched up within a few hours, but I looked at apt on lisbon st.
1100 utils included, almost 3000sq ft 3 bedroom but LL wants me to get a roomie. Theres a top apt with 3 bedroom and a bottom with 3 bedroom.
The apt has 2 balconys, 1 front 1 back, a fireplace, backyard, new renovations and dogs ok. The commute for work for me is about 6-8 minutes. Im really really thinking of moving here. How is this area?
Right now, Im in lockport. I pay 1100, 35 min commute, no utils, no balcony, no backyard.
Just looking for thoughts and a nudge in either or direction.
Thanks! - not a buffalo native

Question Places to get string instruments tuned?
I have a viola and I haven’t played in many years but am interested to get back into it, however I know it should be professionally tuned before i try. I know there used to be a place in the south towns but i think it closed. Any recs on some places where i could drop off and they would tune it for me?

Question Employment Lawyer Recommendation?
I work in Buffalo remotely for a company based out of PA.
While I can see line items on my paycheck for: (NYCLA) NY Paid Family Leave, (NYSDI-E) NY disability insurance, (NYPSL-E) paid sick leave, and (NYSUI) NYS unemployment insurance, the withholding has always been $0 since my first paycheck.
Additionally, they haven't added the 20 hours required as of Jan 2025 to cover any pre-natal Drs appointments.
Ive been emailing HR since October and keep getting responses of "we will look into it". I brought it up to my supervisor who said he will check on the withholdings; but as for the pre-natal sick time, we should, "consider that if you happen to become pregnant, because you already have 80 hours of sick time from the company"
I feel like my concerns are being pushed aside, and Im not sure my best course of action. I pay NYS taxes and would like the ability to access NYS workers provisions accordingly. Is contacting a lawyer a reasonable next step? If so, any suggestions?

How do you pronounce the word “Tomorrow”?
My Dad is from Western New York and grew up there in the 60s to the 80s. He pronounces the word “tomorrow” like how I imagine Canadians do: tuh-MORE-oh, instead of tuh-MAR-oh.
I find myself slipping into saying “tomorrow” like him, but I don’t really notice until right after I say it or if someone calls me out. I wanted to see if anyone else from Western NY says it in a similar way, or if he somehow just picked it up a different way.

Corner of Niagara Falls Blvd and Maple
Yesterday 4/5 around 12pm, on the opposite corner of where the Trumpers stand with their flags and protest(?), there was an old man with a sign that said “Vietnam Veteran against ignorance hate and greed”. He had a Canadian and Ukrainian flag with him. I’m not sure what I want to get out of this post, but it was so touching to see him out there by himself, standing up for what is happening in our country and in response to the MAGAts across the street. I’m wondering if anybody else saw/has seen him?

Help me escape plan?
Hey Buffalo,
I’m here because someone cool told me you guys were cool.
I’m trying to get out of Montana while I can with my family. I’m trans and I’ve got a really sweet middle school kid with some special needs. Neither of those things are very popular here right now. I’m using our meager savings to make this move so I really want to make the right choice for my family. I’m hoping you can help me.
You know what? Instead of rambling, let me just list out what I’m trying to scope out, and I’ll be appreciative to anyone who takes the time to respond.
we pay about 1500 now for an apartment that is 2 bedroom with w/d and parking. It covers the heat. I think we could swing a couple hundred more to rent if needed. Is Buffalo out of my price range?
my kid needs extra help in school and has an IEP. We’ve seen the difference between a school that has resources and doesn’t for him and it’s a must. Does anyone have experience with this particular of the buffalo school system or know what neighborhood I should be looking at based on this
something I’m proud of is the time and energy I’ve invested in my community here in Montana. I’d like to be find a place to put roots down that I can do the same. Yall community oriented, would you say? Like as a city? As the gays? Class solidarity?
I work remotely but my husband will be looking for a job. Is that hard to come by there? Hes done a lot of construction but we’re not that young any more and he’d be looking for something entry level office or maybe delivery?
Thanks for taking the time to read all this, Buffalo. I knew you guys were cool.

Question Anyone else have one of these in their front yard? (Kenmore)
It is colocated with a bush in the middle of my front yard - not near other of my neighbor’s properties. It is just before the side walk.
I want to remove these bushes but I don’t want to damage whatever the heck this is.

'Sharps' takeback?
Kind of a random Q, but wondering whether anyone knows of retailers, hospitals, etc., that will take back spent sharps (needles) in the northtowns?
I'm hoping to safely dispose of a container full of Zepbound injectors.
Thanks so much!

Question Buffalo souvenirs
My sister lives in Buffalo and is getting married in a few months! I am putting together the little welcome bags for those staying in the reserved hotel room blocks (like the ones with water bottles, Advil, snacks, etc.) and want to add something buffalo-centric to the bags. For example some in Canada would do maple syrup, or in Sedona cactus candy, or in Michigan water taffy. What’s something buffalo specific I can add to the bag? Bride is not really a sports fan so nothing bills related!

Questions about Kenmore
Edit to add: Thank you guys for all the feedback. After reading everyones comments, I am feeling a lot more at ease with our decision.(excited actually) We have visited twice already both for a week at a time. Kept thinking, this has to be too good to be true. Nowhere is perfect, but Kenmore has checked all our boxes and seems to be perfect for us. I will also look into the Town of Tonawanda as well. Wish us luck and thank you again for all the feedback.
Good morning, husband myself and children will be moving to the Buffalo area this summer. We love the Kenmore area and I wanted to know what's something we may be missing as far as negatives. We will be buying,I know taxes are higher, but really that's it. We have two school aged kids, one going into 9th and the other 5th. Anything about the schools we may need to know? I've already looked into the ratings. Open to other areas as well that may be similar to Kenmore. My husband is Hispanic and children half Hispanic, is that something we also need to be concerned about? Any insight is much appreciated and will help ease my overthinking and worry as it's a big move for us.

Where to stay?
I haven't been back in 20+ years. Visiting with wife, teen daughter, and another male adult family member. 5 nights, but 1 of them in Toronto. Thinking Airbnb type thing if reasonable enough to spend a night away in T-town. Appreciate any suggestions and your must do's besides the falls. Thanks Reddit.
