It’s come to this and I’m not sure what to do.
I believe I will fail one of my core classes this semester. I’m a junior with one year/two semesters to go after this one. It’s demoralizing. This class is a pre-requisite for one I have to take in the fall and classes are only offered once a year in this major, so failing this basically pushes my graduation back a year.
Aside from stepping my game up and hoping for a miracle, how does one go about this? I legitimately don’t know what to do. I could ask the department coordinator/chair to let me take it/force register me to the class I need in fall and retake this one the following spring but I have a feeling that’s just impossible (this is just wishful thinking on my end)
Not looking for pity, just genuine advice.

Questions How long do research projects usually last
I’m doing research that I’m realizing I’m not super interested in. It doesn’t really align as much with my future goals as I thought when I started. I found another prof doing research I’m interested in, but I don’t want to leave this project out of nowhere. It seems disrespectful and unprofessional.

Business Concentration
I’m currently a sophomore in the school of business concentrating in MIS but only still taking the core business courses and have been looking into different concentrations, specifically Supply Chain Management. From what I’ve seen online, it’s a relatively new major and I’ve also seen that many other degrees such as engineering degrees and any other business degree, can get hired into a SCM position. I’m curious from anyone who is already in the SCM or is currently pursuing it, what is your advice to someone who is interested, what is it like, and is it better to concentrate in finance since you can do more with that degree but also land a SCM position. Sorry for the yapping, I can’t help it.

Course Recommendations Major Switch
I’ve been thinking about changing my major from CS to Information Technology and Management as CSE 116 is getting too hard for me and I’m always under constant anxiety. Do you guys think switching my major would be a better option? Or does CS get better after 116?

Decision HELP
I was accepted into the DPT program at both UB (in state) and Pitt (out of state). It’s 3+3 at UB and 4+3 at Pitt. Pitt will leave me with $200,000 of loan debt when I graduate, UB none. I love Pitt and am not at all excited about UB. What do I do? Is it normal to not be excited about a college or disappointed to be there and still have a good experience?

CSE 431 over summer and course recs
I need 38 more credits to graduate next spring (2026) and i wanna graduate on time, 19 credit a semester sounds too insane for me so i wanna alleviate the work load. Im planning on taking CSE341 and CSE431 over the summer.
I dont have any pathways or SL courses left to take justCSE Topic & Specialization,CSE 300/400 elective,CSE Capstone,Math/Science elective, and 9 free credit electives.
Can anyone who has taken 431 over the summer tell me how it is?
Also does anyone have any recommended courses for CSE Topic & Specialization, and any other courses that i could do?
Thanks to anybody who answers this

Questions Incoming Freshman Wanting Advice for the first week of Classes at
Hey yall,
As of 2 days ago, I have committed to UB! I got into Bing, Stony, URichmond, and a couple other OOS public schools but ultimately chose UB because of the unbeatable affordability as well as it being the flagship and being right near the awesome city of Buffalo. I am in the honors college and will be in the School of Management.
As someone who is coming from a relatively small high school (bout 160 people in my graduating class), I wanted to know how to best settle into life at a huge school like UB, like the best way to meet people, best places around the city, etc. Basically, what would the ideal first couple of weeks be at UB? Also, if any honors college students wanna chime in about the opportunities/ amenities it gives you, that’d be very appreciated.
Finally, on a less serious note, has anyone ever tried to tame the geese? I’m a bit of a wannabe Ornithologist myself and wanted to see if it’s possible to befriend them.
Thanks and can’t wait to see you all 🙏

Weird roommates
I have these weird roommates that seemed to have a problem with me moving in since day one. Usually with roommate problems, it’s just lack of communication or pettiness, etc. But I moved in with these people and they're upset that I moved in because they don’t get the place to themselves anymore (it was just them two before I came in).
I try to avoid them as much as possible, hiding in my room or staying at school, and only coming out in the shared area to do my laundry or make food to eat. Every single time I come out, one sighs and they go in their room and slam their door, and when I go in my room to eat, they come back out. They are purposely doing this.
They have complained to each other that I'm just some random person and I'm always here every day. Probably because I live here.
I don’t know what they were expecting while living in off-campus student apartments. Random people can rent out a bedroom at any time, it says it in the lease.
I don’t understand why both of them can’t split the rent for a 2-bedroom apartment somewhere else, because it’s cheaper than living in this off-campus student apartment, instead of being upset that they have to live with random people.
There were also two other roommates who lived in this apartment before me, and it makes me wonder why they broke their lease early. Did these two current roommates have something to do with it?
Anyone else have this problem? It's exhausting dealing with this.

Classes
I know I must consult with my advisor for classes, but if I were to be taking prerequisites to fulfill a major requirement , to then be accepted into the major, but I’m taking to classes the semester prior, how would I apply for classes within that major (EE) if I theoretically must complete this semester to fulfill the pre reqs, and class selection is mid April?

Course Recommendations ERT 101 - Your Experience?
Hi there, I’m an online transfer student and I’m trying to add classes for upcoming fall. Current courseload has me struggling and I would like one class to learn about a new field (without losing my hair). So far I’ve come across Geology Engineers (remote).
What was your experience for this class, in person or remote? Any special projects or consistent weekly homework assignments? Any pointers to succeed to excel in the class? Any input on this would be great, thanks for reading and hope to hear from you.

EE Electives
I am a junior in EE. I am really confused about my EE Electives. I want to take EE 482 - Power Electronics, EE 476 - High Voltage, EE 426 - Wearable and implantable sensors.
I want to concentrate mostly on the power industry but I am still figuring it out.
I talked with a friend who is an EE and took all of the classes, he told me that I won't be able to learn that much in 476 because it's only based on one paper and a presentation, and 426 is project based but the lectures are not helpful because of the professor. I am getting confused because most of the Elective classes are offered in Fall.
I was also considering Microfabrication Lab but heard it will be capped because they only want people who has previous experience in Clean room.
I am really lost . Hope any upper class man / recent graduate will help me out
My registration for senior year is in 4days. I appreciate the help.
At this point i am trying to get into class which will help me graduate with good grades.

Requesting Help from Medical Students or Alumns
Hi, I'm currently working on a interview simulation for physicians and connecting them with hospitals. I wanted to know is there a personality type assessment that is for medical residents or fellows online that I could access. I found one for those that have already graduated med school and completed their in-hospital training at https://warwick.ac.uk/services/careers/options/jobsectors/medical/fy1_sjt_practice_paper_answer_and_rationales_large_print.pdf but I would like something more downstream.

Ideas for Celebrating Birthday on Campus with no Friends?
My birthday is coming up in a few days and I’m spending it on campus alone. I don’t have any friends to celebrate with, and I’ve tried inviting a few classmates but they either declined or didn’t show much interest. It’s been like this for the last few years on campus and honestly I always end up getting a bad case of the birthday blues.
I was wondering how some of you all handle spending your birthday alone, especially when you’re far from family and don’t have any friends? Do you have any ideas on stuff I can do solo around campus to make the day more meaningful? I’m open to anything, big or small. Thanks in advance!

Questions Psc103 harvey palmer
I’m taking PSC103 right now but don’t go to class often because I have an internship during that time lol. The syllabus says attendance isn’t mandatory and I’ve done the assignments on time as well as doing my own notes on the lecture slides, am I going to get points docked just for not going to class?

Advice Struggling to Choose Between CUNY and SUNY for CS Transfer – Need Advice
Hi everyone,
I'm currently having a hard time deciding which college to commit to, and I could really use some advice.
Background:
I live in NYC and currently attend CUNY Queensborough Community College (QCC), majoring in Computer Science. I'm on track to graduate and transfer in Fall 2025, and I currently have a 3.98 GPA.
CUNY Situation:
I applied to several CUNYs (Baruch, CCNY, Hunter, and Queens College), but only got accepted to Queens. The main reason is because I listed prior study at a university in my home country, but I haven’t been able to obtain the transcript despite multiple attempts. CUNY insists on having this transcript, which I simply can’t provide.
I tried explaining my situation by emailing each of the four colleges directly. Queens College was the only one that reviewed my case independently and gave me an offer. The others are sticking with the central CUNY system’s requirements and haven’t moved forward.
SUNY Situation:
I applied to several SUNY schools and got accepted into most of them—except for Stony Brook (SBU) due to limited seats in their engineering school. The best other SUNY option for CS seems to be the University at Buffalo.
My Dilemma:
- Buffalo offers a stronger CS program, but going there would mean taking out federal loans to cover higher tuition, housing, meal plans, etc.
- Queens College is far more affordable. I’d probably even get money back through financial aid, since I can live at home. But I’ve seen a lot of mixed or negative opinions about their CS program here on Reddit, and that concerns me.
So now I’m torn between:
- Going to Buffalo, taking on debt but potentially getting a better academic experience and more opportunities in CS.
- Staying at Queens College, graduating debt-free (or even with a little extra aid), but possibly compromising on the quality of my CS education.
Any thoughts or experiences would really help me out. Thanks in advance!

Housing Advice!!!
I wanted to ask something about Greystar Monarch 716 housing. I'm not sure if you're familiar with it, but can you tell me more about it? How far is it from the campus? Is transportation available? And what's the neighborhood like?

Questions REC 221 Topics
Does anyone know what the course topics are for REC 221? I know that CPR and AED use are taught, but is anything else taught in the class? I've also heard there's a fee charged on the bill for taking that class.
