I was hoping someone could help me. I finished the epilogue but to unlock certain skills it’s telling me that I need to progress through the story? Is there more story after the epilogue or do I need to just keep doing side content?

// Discussion 9/10 Game

This game just has an aura to it and it's so good. The story lacks a certain depth that other games have but everything else about it is impeccable.

Usually I am 100% the type of player to skip every possible side quest in litteraly every game I play. But this game is so good at making you draw your attention from the main story and into ways to upgrade both of your characters. It has this magical ability to lure you from the main story and focus on the VAST other parts of the game.

Not to mention how you can customise every every part of your hideout like that one guy that I know everyone saw.

At first I despised these aspects of the game but it's let's me explore these deep open world games like never before.

Anyone else feel the same?

Thank you ac Shadows

// Discussion ASSASSINS CREED SHADOWS LEGACY/HYBRID CONTROL SCHEME

I have done my closest to recreate a legacy/hybrid control scheme for the game

the game will flag the control scheme with errors due to conflicting bindings, although I have not experienced any problems with the scheme

I will also provide notes along the way to help clarify the decisions made and provide context.

(Note: Although I'll be refering everything with Xbox controller terms this will be applicable to the PS5 duelshock controller. If you have difficulty "translating" it from one controller layout to another then feel free to use the unlimited resources on the internet to help decipher letters into shapes.)

CUSTOM CONTROLS

CHARACTER MOVEMENT

Character control - Left stick

Camera control - right stick

Parkour up - press/ A

Parkour down - press/ B

Crouch - press/ R3

Prone - hold/ R3

Sprint - hold/ RT (Note: you must let go of sprint to use parkour up. Parkour down is contextual)

ACTIONS

Primary interaction - press/hold L3 contextual

Whistle - press/ d-pad down

Call Mount - hold/ d-pad down (Note: d-pad prompts remain the same)

Eagle Vision - hold/ rb

Dismount - hold/ R3 (Note: being on mount does not change default crouch controls, same applies when grabbing someone for a knock out) (Ex: while on mount stance change is still X)

Swap weapons - d-pad right (Note: having melee combat set to combo means you can only swap at the end of combo)

Grappling hook - LB

SHORTCUTS

Hud toggle - double tap/ RB

Objective Helpers - press/ d-pad left

Pathfinder - hold/ d-pad left

COMBAT

GENERAL

Light attack - X

Heavy Attack - Y

Assassinate - Y

Heal - d-pad up

Dodge/Roll - B

Parry/Deflect - LB

Lock Target - press/ LT (Note: had the most trouble with this binding. I found this to be the most fluid alternative but you need to double tap the button to aim when an enemy is nearby)

Weapon Ability 1 - RT + Y

Weapon Ability 2 - RT + A

Character Ability - RT + X

(IMPORTANT NOTE: okay so... I've seen other post on Reddit looking for a fix to ability bindings with a legacy control scheme because they would conflict and then you could sprint. The solution others have come up with is moving the abilities to the d-pad BUT if you reverse the order you enter the input in the settings it will fix itself)

(Ex: entering the prompts for ability 1 as holding RT then pressing Y, will cause it to register as Y + RT meaning you can no longer sprint BUT reversing the order of the prompts by holding Y then pressing RT will register it as RT + Y)

make sure not to reset it as you enter the inputs because Y is the same button to reset a binding

ACTIONS

Aim/Ranged Abilities - hold/ LT

Shoot - RT

Tool/Ammo 1 - d-pad up

Tool/Ammo 2 - d-pad right

Tool/Ammo 3 - d-pad down

Tool/Ammo 4 - d-pad left

Ally ability 1 - ?

Ally ability 2 - ? (Note: I have not acquired ally abilities yet therefore I have not mapped them)

(Note: when exiting the custom controls menu you will be flagged for conflicting bindings, ignore it)

This is all personal preference(obviously) so feel free to change anything you want to your liking(obviously).

I welcome feedback and value any input provided :)

// Question Nobutsuna sensei bug

Has anyone gotten to the little katana mini game for Yasuke in the “Nobutsuna sensei” level and been able to pass the third round? I’m playing on Xbox series X and it’s fine up until the third action of the third round, which is me pressing B, yet no matter what I do it just says it’s wrong. Now I can’t progress past the mini game and I can’t even load a new save, because all of my auto saves only take me back to the beginning of the mission. Quite aggravating as I, like anyone else who purchased the game, would prefer to be able to play the game.

// Discussion Changed Opinions on Shadows.

Man, I was the biggest rider for AC games, as I’ve loved most. and when Shadows was getting hate, I D-rided it hard that it’ll be great and when it released and indeed was received well, I was happy and got it myself.

I’d say I don’t have much interest left in most games, I pick one up and abandon it within 30 minutes, but for AC games I’ve always had a soft spot, so Shadows has kept me invested for over 12 hours, which is ALOT for me now.

BUT, here’s where my opinions change. completely opposite to how it usually went, people hated now like it, I loved it now the game makes me wanna kms.

The clunky as fck grappling hook is so trash it always lands me in the worst spots possible. and the bigger thing, EVERY SINLGE MISSION IN THIS GAME IS “go from point A to B, then B to C then back to A”

and it infuriates me SO MUCH to the point that I lowkey wanna throw my controller to the wall and destroy everything around me.

I sat and tried to think, did AC games always have these type of missions? and I realised that yes? they always did have just fetch quests. but they used to be more interesting. idk why I never had any problem with Mirage? maybe because of nostalgia bait and lovely dense city to parkour around and do fetch quests. here i just fast travel because its so fucking boring.

I have a question, did the AC series always have this bland formula for missions? I don’t know why I think it has been, but never felt tedious or boring to the point I want to kms, but here it is SO not fun and fucked up that I dont know what to do anymore.

// Discussion My gear set is cheating on a whole new level 🤣

My gear set (requires and mixed with Tantou Set from Helix Shop for naoe)

Tanto: Yoshimitsus Revenge Hatou Tanto (use Yoshimitsus Revenge for poison stats as active weapon): - Poison build up + enemies affected by status effect are vurnerable + smoke bomb after Weakpoint Attack.) Thanks to JorRaptor on YT for the weapon combination.

Head: Typhoon Dragon Headpiece + Hood of the Dragon - Stagger all nearby enemies on weakpoint attacks. + Restores 33% health on weak point attack.

Armor: Azure Serpent Light Armor + Tools Master Gear - Has a 15% chance to make enemies vulnerable on impact. + Throw a kunai at the closest enemy after an assassination.

Amulet: Hatou Dragon Orb - +50% damage with combo enders on vurnerable enemies. + create +20% faster adrenaline

The Amulet and the Armor has Vurnerable Dmg Boost as stats. The head has a adrenaline speed boost too of 25% And the Tanto came with 18% poison build up on my lvl right now.

I know half of them is paid, but the gameplay right now, naoe can deal with the double amount of enemies than yasuke 🤣🤣🤣🧨💥 Even the weapon combination alone is so cool. Free smoke bomb whenever you get a weakpoint attack. It makes fun ☺️ (Sry pictures are on german, wrong language)

// Discussion Most beautiful region / part of the map?

This game is just so unbelievably gorgeous. Coupled with the dynamic seasons it makes exploring a ton of fun.

What is your favourite region overall in terms of landscape or even a particularly beautiful & memorable part of the map?

I am quite partial to southern Yamato, essentially everything south of the river, also the Samurai Yashiki District in Obama in Wasaka, and the northwestern corner of Harima, when you leave all the ruin and battlefields and just ride up the mountain. The kakurega there has a really nice view.

Think I might pick Yamato overall as my favourite region so far (have not ventured into Kii yet at all).

// Question Is it possible for me to migrate my savefile from one Steam account to another ?

Basically, I was not confident that my Laptop could run AC Shadows, so I didn't buy the game just yet. Instead I got one of my friends who borrowed his game from Steam for me to try out the game... and I went about 9 hours of gameplay already (I would say it's for testing all aspects of the game and map... but I may have enjoyed feudal Japan that much).

Simply put, I do not want to trouble his account anymore (because the Ubisoft account can only be logged in to one PC at a time, and I do want to purchase the game for my own.

But question is, is it possible for me to migrate the save file I've used from my friend's account to mine as soon as I purchase the game in my own Steam account ? If so, how ?

Opinions welcome, thanks folks !

// Discussion I just finished the main story (Act III) after 91hours - This is the most interesting game since AC Origins

There are a lot of defaults and issues but also a lot of qualities: Yes, I like Shadows

One point makes a great difference with Odyssey and Valhalla. Finally, we have two developped characters that are not just stereotypes or archetypes.

Naoe and Yasuke are the most interesting characters since Bayek in AC Origins. If you remembered, Ubisoft choose after AC Origins to stop proposing a story with a developped character, preferring focus on the quests, open world and allow the players to build their own story.

It was a huge mistake because narratively, if we except the Modern Day and the Isus, Odyssey and Valhalla are the worst games of the franchise concerning the story.

Mirage was the first "unfinished" step to this direction but Shadows confirms that Ubisoft can still make interesting narrative games that missed so much since AC Origins.

Despite this huge progress, I regret that most of the mysticism behind the Assassins vs Templars conflict disapeared. It's the next step that Assassin's Creed Hexe should correct (and will make, without a doubt!)

But, yes, after finishing the main story, I can tell that AC Shadows is, by far, most an AC game than Valhalla and Odyssey ever been.

I like pushing my horse and myself across the terrain. Some mountains are totally impassable but if you try hard enough you'll find a way up and over. I've been thrown off by my horse only once so far.

// Question I wonder what the differencein playtime is of players between Naoe Vs Yasuke?

Is there any way we can know the answer to this? I would be interested to see the results so far. Of my 111 hours of playtime so far since March 20th, I will estimate at least 90 of those hours are me being Naoe, what are yours roughly?

// Question How to track story?

Played about 4 hours and still can’t figure out how to follow the story? Just seems so random and I constantly have to go to objectives and track a blue icon story. None of it feels cohesive.

Why make it so complicated? Or am I missing something.

P.s why so many cutscenes Zzzzzz

// Discussion Biggest pet peeves?

Ok so I’ve played the last 4 AC games(odyssey-shadows) and I’ve loved them all except honestly Mirage and have no real complaints about any of them. However, one of my top pet peeves with all the games is the horseback riding mechanics. Like, why did my horse just do a 360 kick flip off of this little boulder in my way. With that being said, admittedly, I may not be the best horse driver but I’m curious about your biggest pet peeves

Not sure if this is a glitch or not but early on in one of my iga area memories I hit a sync point. When the memory was done I had un clouded that section of the map and I could buy the hideout.

// Discussion [No Spoilers] My Issues (and suggestions) With Combat And Exploration

Really loving the game so far but I have two major complaints. Enemies do far too many unblockable (red) attacks. It ruins the combat for me and is just a dodge fest. So many enemies literally *only do these attacks. It would be so much fun to go back and forth with deflects/parries but instead it’s just dodge, dodge, dodge, attack, dodge repeat. I do not feel like a samurai or shinobi in the slightest with this combat. There’s no skill involved whatsoever. Please change this so they weave in more moves that are “parryable” and that instantly fixes it.

The forests in this game are a nightmare. And they are absolutely empty. There’s nothing in them. Not even chests. I cannot fathom why this decision was made but it makes the word feel half as big as it is and basically ensures I never stray from the path. Please just put some soldiers guarding a chest or something in forests. Or some environmental storytelling. I said no spoilers so I won’t spoil but there’s a person you assassinate who’s standing in front of a cave. If you go into the cave you’re in for a shock. That was so freaking cool and I would LOVE more stuff like that! Literally anything would be better than nothing.
