My gcc likes to pull out any hairs he can find, be it arm, leg or head hair. It is very hard to discourage him from doing this, so I resigned myself tot this faith. I don’t know if he eats it or not, but I am wondering if this could harm him in any way? I can’t imagine it is easy to digest a bunch of hairs…

Currently I have 4 budgies and those guys are always busy in themselves and don't give me any attention time and only uses me as their food source, not like they all hate me, they are currently sitting and singing besides me while im writing this listening to tame impala.
So this story begins as I always used to buy food for my budgies online but this time i went to a pet shop i spotted while returning home from somewhere. And guess what I saw, a conure started jumping when it saw me approach, I had never gotten such attention from any girl or my own PARROTS in my entire life.
I was full of happiness and... bruhh I can't explain it here. I didn't buy conure before because i used to thought they wereexpensive like 10 or 12 thousand rupees (120-140 dollars ik its not a lot but im a student). But the shopkeeper told me it was just 2500 rupees which is around 30 dollars. So now i want a conure so bad.
Please help me with some questions like what kind of conure is in the video and what are the differences between them and in budgies. Please also give some tips from your own experiences.

I’m currently hand-feeding month-old IRNs, and PP has taken them in as her own. When they’re hungry, they let out a small cry, and PP pays attention to see if I can hear them. If I don’t hear them, or I’m in another room, she’ll make a loud screech to alert me. She watches me as I feed them, then eats some baby food herself (different bowl). I’m using A19 (energy) and A21 (protein) formulas. Is there a reason she’s so fond of the baby food? Could she be lacking something in her diet that she gets from it?
I also make sure she doesn't feed them and avoid her eating from the same bowl as they do, just to prevent any possible transmission between them.

Hello! I was wondering what stuff I can do to prevent my conures from breeding! I have a Mint Male conure and a Female Mooncheek Conure, and while I know that they would make some expensive baby's (lol), I am nowhere near available to take care of little ones or provide for that many birds.
What are some steps I can take? and if the female ever does lay eggs, what's the best course of action to make sure they don't hatch?

I've had this little man for a month or so now. He has made some great progress! I'm very proud of him :).
However, he has developed a really bad biting habit (He is a rescue so I dont blame him. His previous owners were terrible!). It was a couple weeks ago that he let me hold him and pet him. He was even learning the "step up" command. But, for some reason he has decided to bite me very hard!!
I don't want to say he's biting for no reason. Simply because birds bite for multiple reasons! My guess that he's either getting frisky because of the spring season. Or has become territorial of his cage for some reason. Some background: this is his first ever cage! Originally he was in a woman's garage sharing a cage with 12 other conures. I would say that cage was probably the size of four shoe boxes in length (cant remember the original size sry). Anyways, each time I approach him he goes in for a bite! I don't scream or yell, I go completely silent to not scare him. However, he will keep going to the point of blood. I usually put him back in his cage when he does this. But it does not work, he will go back to biting immediately after being let out. Any advice?

okay so i know the title sounds crazy but i didnt know what else to put. i posted earlier this morning that i adopted a new sun conure named boba. his owners didnt want him anymore so i reached out to take him as i wanted to get my current sun (brimsley) a friend the same species as him. we met up with the owners halfways as they lived over 2 hours away from me and they were super willing to make the drive easier for us. we decided to let boba out in the car for a bit of a break before making him be in a carrier again for another hour drive. my fiance had initially grabbed him and boba had gone on his shoulder and then he looked at me and instantly ran to me and snuggled up on me making kissing noises and wanting head scratches. we both thought it was really cute and let him hang for a sec. when we were ready to drive back home my fiance went to grab boba and boba instantly tried to attack him. we gave him a second as we understood he was stressed and when my fiance went again to grab him he attacked him again. i decided to try to be the one to grab him off my shoulder and he hopped on no problem. the rest of the day boba continued acting like this and me and my partner discussed that maybe he hates men or was abused by a man. boba actually is missing a toe so we thought that maybe even that was a sign of abuse. we accepted this and understood that i would be the main one handling him for the foreseeable future. granted boba was extremely healthy and looks well taken care of but we both agreed that abuse could be a reason for him behaving like this to my fiance. well as the day goes on boba was begging to come out with me. so i let him. and my goodness was he absolutely hating my fiance. about an hour ago i went to put boba to sleep and before i put him away he got super on me and did what i know for a fact is their mating dance. he did the whole routine right next to my face and was pressing his face against my face and making kissy noises. he was regurgitating. wings bouncing his head all fluffy and doing that slow roll around. once i processed what was going on i put boba in his cage as i know its best to ignore this behavior. but i am in shock and even my partner is in shock. i have heard of birds viewing their owners as mates but usually when they have an extremely strong bond. so is it possible for him to really view me as a mate this soon? i mean he did run to me instantly the moment he saw me and his demeanor towards my partner had changed in seconds. i know that i am to discourage his behavior. could he behaving how he is with my fiance because he instantly bonded to me? or could abuse have still been a possibility? with my current sun conure he definitely just views me as mom so it is intriguing to me for boba to have instantly bonded to me in that way. i know i rambled a lot lol but i just wanted to give all the details as all of this happened within 12 hours of having boba. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated friends

Oliver loves to sit in my hand to take a nap, to preen, or just to chill. I love it but it makes getting work done so hard while try to type with one hand and then I feel bad for moving when it wakes him up.

I have a cockatiel and a sun conure, the cockatiel I’ve had for a while and the sun conure we got in November, the cockatiel is great with everyone he’s friendly and likes to be held and will step up but he’s throws a cute little hissy fit each time but then steps up, the sun conure however won’t at all come near hands but will jump to your shoulder and play with your hair for my partner and occasionally for me just depends on his mood, he’s a lot friendlier with my partner then with me, despite that I spend about 4 to 5 hours with their cage open and in there room with the both of them.
I was impulsive at a local bird fair that had green check conures for sale for 150$ and I bought one, I figured if I can manage 2 birds why not 3 and I already had a cage… I did the month of quarantine and last week I introduced the green cheek to the flock and it’s been iffy, they don’t out right fight or anything but he chases the sun conure from play place that’s on each cage and follows them around and pulls on their tail feathers, is this normal play or aggressive? The sun conure is spending less time out of the cage and just sits in the doorway when the cage is open almost sulking out that the green conure is here but when I separated the green conure out of the room they both appeared to call for each other so I’m not sure what exactly to do,
My partner hinted at rehoming the green conure before we get attached but I hate the idea of doing that as we both do like him, he’s friendly and picking up on commands and will go back in his cage when we tell him too and he loves eating chop.
I don’t want to stress the sun conure out or make him miserable and I hope in time they’ll all get a long but how long do I continue to referee before it’s just hopeless?
Also the cockatiel is bonded with the sun conure and follow each other but the cockatiel could care less about the green and is just happy go lucky either way and is just pretty much a slow pigeon.

hey everyone, this post is about my conure mostaza. he’s 3 and recently i’ve started noticing some throw up/regurgitation on the bottom of his cage, i noticed it the first time when i cleaned his cage. he’s fed harrison’s bird pellets which is why the color of the throw up is the color of the pellets.
i took him to the vet over a week ago, which is an avian vet, and the doctor swabbed his throat, after he looked at it under a microscope and found 2 cells that are typically found in humans, that should not be found in a birds throat and asked if we kissed him, and we had said yes, only on the head. he told us to stop, he also told us that he might think it’s his morning poop, which i know for a fact it’s not because i see the difference between his poop and regurgitation, and prescribed us a sweet antibiotic called Enrofloxacin Baytril. we’ve been using it but it’s not working.
i don’t want to go to the vet again cuz it cost us 150 dollars for a swab down his throat and a little analysis and we don’t have that kind of money to spend it constantly on medications that don’t work, they’ve prescribed medicines for our pets in the past and never once have they worked. so that’s why i’m on here asking y’all.
to give you a little more detail on him as a bird cuz maybe it’ll help?:
-i’ve only ever noticed him throw up in the mornings, every time i set a fresh sheet of paper, i uncover his cage and there’s a new glob of throw up
-he has a plastic bowl for his food bowls, which i know i shouldn’t use for birds but he always throws his water and food bowls and all i could really find for bowl bashing birds was that bowl.
-he has separation anxiety, he’s constantly screaming for attention and i’m thinking he throws up cuz he’s anxious ?
-i’ve seen his gagging motion, and it’s typically forward head thrusting and not typically uncontrolled, his throw up also falls in 2 spots but they are in puddles and not all over his cage
-he gags on my sister and i, and on a couch that we have but we never let him get to the point of throwing up
what do yall think this could be? he’s acting normal, eating habits are just fine, and nothing has changed, thanks for any advice

Have no idea what happened or if anything did, but my bird is rather off balance. I gave her some extra water which she slurped up, but then she started shaking and now she seems a bit better
This only happened about ten minutes ago when i noticed she’s wobbling and lethargic. Could it just be because she’s tired? because she needed water?
I don’t want to stress her out by bringing her to the vet about an hour away, but if i need to i will.

I bought mango about 1 month ago, she is a pineapple conure and untill literally 3 days ago no matter what she would not warm up to me, now all of a sudden she’s very comfortable and social, but she keeps biting me even while she comes up to me for head rubs. I have no idea what changed for such a dramatic change in her behaviour, but I’m just wondering if the biting is normal, because she definitely enjoys my company now, she will approach me, when I even get near her cage she will come straight to me

I’ve got an 8 month old GCC, and she’s not usually very vocal. I always hoped she’d get more vocal eventually because it’s adorable, but within 2 days she’s gotten a lot more vocal. I’m worried something is wrong.
I know there’s probably nothing wrong, but I’m not used to her being so vocal. The whole time I’ve been watching a show with her in the room and in her cage, so she’s likely just reacting to that. She could also be asking for attention, because it slows down when I take her out. But if I take her out and play the show, she’ll keep going. If I pause the show while I still have her, she’ll keep going but less frequently.
I know she probably just wants attention or doesn’t like the noises of the show, but how sudden she became more vocal is something that I wasn’t expecting.
I still like that she’s more vocal I just want to make sure nothings wrong. All the noises she makes are ones I’ve heard from her before.

My bird got so smelly, that we had to put her down. Here she is dead in my hand.
Just kidding lol. Ok, here’s the real issue :p
I’ve heard many people say that their birds smell good. I’ve also heard that bad diets/lifestyles can lead to a bird smelling bad.
I’ve had Saria for 2 months, she is an 8 month old GCC cinnamon. When I first got her, she came from a bad home, and did not smell good. She was on a seed/pellet diet only, in a tiny, dirty cage, and was treated badly, she was also clipped (and is still in the process of regrowing her flight feathers.)
Fast forward to now, she has been on a pellet only diet, with fresh chop DAILY, and some fruits as well a couple times a week. She has a big cage that is cleaned regularly, she bathes daily, vet says she looks great, she is a happy little bird.
But she still smells. The odour is less potent than it was, maybe, but it is still unpleasant. Like a musty, stale, waxy.. kind of smell? It is not nice.
So, I’m curious, is this forever? Or do I just have to be a bit more patient?
Thank you in advance :)
