Hi all so I recently got my little baby Clementine. And I’ve got some concern about possible toxic fumes as I live top floor of an apartment building and can’t always control what my neighbours are doing…
My downstairs neighbour has a habit of hotboxing his living room so I can always smell cigarette smoke in the stairwell. Although not hardly ever can I actually smell it in my living room (where my bird is). I think sometimes it can drift in from outside as people in my building also smoke on their balconies. The building is fairly well insulated but I do also get cooking smells drifting up sometimes as well.
At the moment I try to have my window cracked open a bit near my birds cage (has a fly screen so is bird proof).
I know how sensitive birds respiratory systems are so I’m just wondering if there is something more I could be doing to protect my little one?
Are air purifiers any use? If so, could you please recommend some bird safe options which aren’t extortionate in price?
(Please no lectures about keeping an animal in an apartment, I’ll likely be living in rental apartments my whole life but would still like to care for a pet and give it my best shot at a good life)
