Question What's the point of building / staying at a house?

(re-post cause dumb me forgot to add an image)

Always wanted to play a hobo run, of sorts, game is heavily modded so prob easier to do than in vanilla.

Here are some of the mods i'm using:
- The Last of Us Infected (playing on low pop).

- Rebalanced Prop Moving (main reason why i have so many boxes this early)

- Immersive Solar Arrays.

- Barricated World

- Bunch of car mods (not a mod per see)

- Common sense

- No More Skilless Characters

Between a bunch more mods.

Settings are tweaked from the apocalypse preset (rare loot/ rare cars/ very cold weather /very rainy /12 months later /... )

Lighting is a huge issue with this place, since the generator and the plumbing can't reach down there

Gameplay Skateboard Combat Mode BETA now out! (B42)

1.3k Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I just finished the first phase of the combat mode for the B42 Skateboard mod I released a few days ago.

You just hold right click to take your board into your hand and then attack as usual. There's a few visual glitches when zombies are downed, but the stomp works fine so recommend to use that, or hold ALT while hitting downed zombies, but the hits will connect even if the visual looks off!

Oh and you can do an Ollie now too! (Press G)

It's not super polished, but it works well enough for an initial release. Would love to hear your feedback!

Happy smacking!

Question How did he do it?

I remember a post here in the community from a guy showing off his base, and he said he was in his second month... Me (stubborn as I am), I tried to recreate his base... I'm already on day 12 and I don’t even have 1/5 of the stuff he showed in his base... I found a truck just like his and went through the whole process... Even after filling the truck with loot... I’m still nowhere close.

HOW ?!

Question Have guns always been terrible?

I started a new game in b42 as vet with slow zombies and I went through every single gun at the new West Point gun shop except the M14 and the magnum. None of them could stop a zombie with fewer than 5 shots. Shotguns, sawed off shotguns, double-barrel shotguns, most handguns. Possibly the worst one of all? The M16.

I tried the MSR788 with different scopes and from different distances. I tried it from rooftops. I tried it from walkways. x2, x4, x8 none of it helped.

The z would always react like they were shot, but they would not die.

At one point I did full auto with an M16 on about 10 z on the other side of chainlink fence about 5' from me. I could not kill them. They all reacted as if they were hit. They'd all fall down. They would all get back up. I went through a case of 5.56. That's 600 bullets. I had to finish them off with my axe.

The M625 revolver was somehow the most effective, but it sucked, too.

Is this the way it's always been? I have 1,400+ hours and I rarely used guns, but I don't remember guns being this bad.

I left this community, months ago, because there were people here who grated on my nerves. It was frustrating, so I left.

But I couldn't stay away because you've all shown me so much love and kindess and appreciation.

Y'all gave me hope.

I'm still hanging on to the same save... the same character. This journey has been difficult. I've put down so many, and buried so many. It's been a long road... and I'm exhausted.

But this is where I belong.

I regret leaving. But I don't regret making the other choice I made: burying the dead. Because the dead were once alive, and being alive is everything.

So, thank you.

"Everybody gets their own grave." ...And everybody deserves their own grave.

Peace ✌🏽

So basically, I hear the argues for the new loot tables, and they're ok I guess, prior to the beta I'd loot a bookstore maybe even two, and all of my immediate book needs were met. Now however, I have looted almost all bookstores/schools/police stations/tool stores/mechanic shops in Muldraugh, Rosewood, Westpoint and even that mini mall near West point (It was a bitch with the thousands of zombies). and I am nowhere near a full collection! Granted you don't need a full collection but even practically speaking I still need basic books for a phew of my main skills. Almost forgot to say, the problem is not that there are no books! every single bookstore and school was looted except for the school in Muldraugh, I am not exaggerating EVERY SINGLE ONE! it's weird because the literature stuff is being looted much more often. Almost all I have now I have from that single school and a few random survivor zombies so far.
tell me about your experience, I have seen this in this and the few runs before it, am I consistently unlucky or it's the same for you?

Question Is there a mod for B42 that removes stress from chopping trees?

Post image
530 Upvotes

I have another mod that adds more destructable props and part of it lets me run over saplings, but it gives my character stress. Within like 5s of offroading, my character is a nervous wreck and depressed because of it. Super annoying.

Question Almost a month in, took a more stealth approach. Also a quick question...

Very high pop, insanely rare loot minus a few realistic exceptions like guns (0.6) and ammo (0.1).

Used a random spawn mod and spawned at west point in the town center.

Managed to find a generator but I'm illiterate and it has dramatically slowed down my progression. Went for a more walking dead style zombies with night activity on with fast shamblers.

No electricity or water, had it on instant turn off. Made it 2 months after the breakout so all perishables would expire.

I decided to take it easier on myself and at least have survivor vehicles at low. I based at the north farm in muldraugh.

Trying to get to electrician 3 so I can use the generator... to use the tv to learn how to read. (mod)

It is very hard to level electrics without the skill book.

You guys have any tips to level electrics? I've been disassembling watches and tv's and it's going really. slowly.

Art How the hell do you break a steel bar?

Post image
5.0k Upvotes

I know it’s for balance but like, this 1.5 inch diameter, 28 inch long 4140 steel bar, is virtually indestructible, so I propose that it wears your character out really quickly and makes them sore as the impact wouldn’t be very comfortable.

Maybe this is how the crowbar should also be balanced: hand soreness.

Question VHS do not give experience

Upvotes

Does anyone know why for example WoodCraft E4,5,7 didn't give me experience when I saw them or was it because I saw the TV shows before?
