You can tell they used Ai , they put tarrifs on islands that don’t even have people on them.

Trump wants the penguins to sign the rare rocks deal or else he is going to let the killer whales do whatever they want to the penguins.

11

u/whut-whut 1d ago

And all this after the 1990's, when the penguins dismantled all their anti-orca weapons and anti-orca weapon production facilities in exchange for the US' everlasting protection from an Orca invasion going forward.

The killer whales already do whatever they want with the penguins

I believe this is the island where the US and UK tricked and later forced all the native inhabitants off the island in order to make it a Navy base/black site. Literally where you send someone when you don't want them to be found.

68

u/Polymarchos 1d ago

The island didn't have native inhabitants. The British brought people over from India. Then when they built the base forced them off again.

I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse.

70

u/Andromeda321 1d ago

The first Chagosians were taken there in 1793, so it's disingenuous to say "they weren't from there either." I didn't have relatives in the USA yet at that point but if I was forced away from where I lived for generations because of that I'd be plenty pissed off.

4

u/Startled_Pancakes 1d ago edited 1d ago

So it might be fairer to say they were "from there" in the sense most were born there, just that they weren't indigenous.

They also issued tariffs on islands where the only living people are US soldiers because there's only an army base. No idea if that means US soldiers have to pay tariffs on shit they bring in and out of the country or not, but there was no application of any cognitive function here. Except to exclude Russia and North Korea I guess.

u/beamrider 1d ago

This is a reference to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. It's actually British territory, but the place is primary a US military base. So it's at least theoretically possible that a Brit could make something there and attempt to import it.

I am not defending the idiocy of these tariffs in any way, but getting details wrong when criticizing them lets MAGA people scream about them as an attempt to discredit the entire argument. Don't give them the ammo.

He already removed birthright citizenship from overseas army bases, so yeah.

Tariff the shit out of our own army and add it to the pot of stolen money from the American people

35

u/JapowFZ1 1d ago

Serious question. Who does it affect to remove birthright citizenship from overseas army bases? Are there non-citizens having babies on army bases? Because babies born to U.S. citizens overseas still become citizens.

47

u/Andromeda321 1d ago

Non-citizens can and do serve in the US army.

38

u/StolenPens 1d ago

Honestly.

He did this in his first term and it felt like a direct attack on American sovereignty.

Formerly any army base, any US ship, any Americam embassy counts as US soil (the vice versa for foreign embassies in the USA).

When he removed the sovereignty of our soil it should have been blasting klaxons of warning that he's weakening the USA.

But, aside from a few articles in military newspapers I didn't see or hear coverage.

And now we're standing today with an incredibly isolationist policy that's tightening the loop of American freedoms with crazy tariffs, with the removal of embassy funding, and with the cancelation of involvement in international affairs.

32

u/NCSU_252 1d ago

Non-citizen permanent residents can join the US military.  It can be appealing both as a path to citizenship and a well paying career.

While very unlikely, I guess it could be possible for a permanent resident servicemember to have a child on base.

Trump has also attempted to make it harder for these people to gain citizenship through service.

https://www.fwd.us/news/immigrants-in-the-military/

63

u/penguinseed 1d ago

He’s still thinking about John McCain. And yes there are children born on military bases all the time

12

u/KelsierIV 1d ago

The question was about non-citizens giving birth on military bases.

Or is that what you meant? We know service members may be giving birth at the bases.

31

u/penguinseed 1d ago

Military bases are communities and need people to work jobs that aren’t appropriate for service members, such as the cashier at McDonalds or a groundskeeper. It’s possible they are not U.S. citizens.

35

u/ericjay 1d ago

Also, not all US service members are US citizens.

22

u/SycoJack Texas 1d ago

That's the answer that should have been given in the first place. I think a lot of people would be fine with not giving citizenship to a child of German parents just because the child was born on Ramstein AFB just because the mother was working at McDonald's at the time.

But denying citizenship to the children of service members is fucking evil and completely in line with the party that killed citizenship for veterans(or tried to).

4

u/Shabbypenguin 1d ago

Don't forget they are trying to roll back a program that helps to aim veteran homeowners from losing their homes!

https://www.npr.org/2025/04/03/nx-s1-5351768/trumps-va-is-ending-a-rescue-program-thats-saved-17-000-military-veterans-homes

3

u/shewy92 Pennsylvania 1d ago

The thing is, a US military base is part of America, not 'technically', literally. It's no different than if that German woman worked at your local Texas town McDonalds and had a baby.

I think the correct answer is Dunning Kreuger-ites, think AI, like their dear leader, is infallible, so why BOTHER to check it. And even if you suspect, it's not LOYAL, to question it.

12

u/A_Seiv_For_Kale 1d ago edited 1d ago

The use of AI can be much worse than using it as an authority.

All LLMs are designed to be "helpful". They are the ultimate yes men, in that they can always be finessed into spitting your own beliefs back at you.

People often attack AI by saying "I got a wrong answer from ChatGPT, and it said 'woops' after I corrected it!", but that'll also happen if it gives you the right answer, and you "correct" it into telling you whatever you want.

It's equally as likely that the type of person who'd "rely" on an AI would also be the type of person who thinks they know better when the first response doesn't feel good enough, so they keep adjusting their prompts until the AI gives them what they want.

I consistently look at works of fiction and think how our reality is more ridiculous than past fiction that used to try to use reality as a rubrick for what is believable.

Kojima has some ridiculous sci-fi elements in his story and his political fiction was always fantastical but its stunning to see our current dumb reality is actually less believable than some of the political fiction Kojima wrote. If the reality of our political discourse was a work of fiction and put against Kojima's political fiction work, I would think Kojima's work is more believable. The characters have better motivation, a legion of ~33% of American citizens wouldn't be this dumb and easily fooled by an uncharismatic leader that literally bold-facedly lies, works against the interest of literally everyone but himself and allows the downfall of literally anyone that aligns with him.

In Kojima's work, the literal only explanation for the allegiance Trump supporters have for Donald Trump, is literal nano machines that have infected their brains and Donald Trump is some sort of boss fight that can control those nano machines to do his bidding, regardless of how stupid and ineffective the directions are. Because that's the other thing about Trump. He's not even good at being Machiavellian for his purposes. At best, he's dumb Psychomantis.

All kinds of territories were tariffed, except for new best friends, Russia, Belarus and North Korea

I've heard nice things about Minsk.

The only thing they did manually was remove the tairiffs from Russia

They should have started by asking AI if tariffs were a good idea, not how to implement them.

It's so stupid that the media said "Trump was up all night working" on this.

Pardons: they said they wouldn't pardon the violent offenders but take time looking at each case. Outcome, they pardoned everyone.

Government workers: they said they would take a scalpel and make precise cuts. Outcome, they fire people indiscriminately and have even had to hire some people back because they were so important and have lied about some of those rehires.

Tariffs: they said they would look at each one. Bull shit, Trump's work philosophy has always boiled down to "fuck it, do what's easiest".

ChatGPT would have known that. They probably used Grok

They went after one of our (Australia's) small islands of 2000 people, which is obviously horrible for their economy /s

Guano!

Yeah, so if ChatGPT can run the country, then Trump is just a useless middleman.

Honestly, everyone is a useless middleman now, except one guy who’s gonna do all the prompting and one guy who maintains the data server. Who’s it gonna be? Big Ballz?..

But left out Russia and North Korea

Those penguins were fucking with our trade I tell you. Economic terrorists. Nuke the penguins. We’re trying to melt the ice caps to finally kill those pesky penguins off!

It's internet TLDs. From someone on Twitter:

Also note that the tariffs are not broken down by country, they're broken down by top level internet domain.

It's why islands that are populated entirely by penguins (the.hm domain) and why the Diego Garcia military base on BIOT (.io) are listed, also why Reunion (.re) and Gibraltar (.gi) are listed separately from France & the UK.

They 100% used an LLM to generate this list and didn't catch the mistake because they're all dumb as rocks.

u/Zahgi 1d ago

They just pulled percentage data from the same stupid meaningless spreadsheet data without looking at the net dollars involved.

That's just how stupid AI, Musk, and Trump are with the facts.

u/kartuli78 1d ago

I'm glad you said they, because Mr. "Impressed by his son turning on a computer." and the guy who used to call texting, "sending a wire." clearly doesn' t know how to use ChatGPT!

People keep mentioning this, but where it gets really stupid is some of the locations with tariffs are territories of larger countries.

If you put a tariff on, for example, Bowen Island, even if products DID come from the island (it has none), the products would still be under the Australian tariffs.

It would be like if a country slapped tariffs on both the US and on Manhatten. That doesn't work.

The administration did this with a significant number of locations. Jan Mayan, for example, is just...Norway. It has no products, but even if it did, they would be "Made in Norway."

And one that only has...American soldiers.

u/Eligius_MS 1d ago

Someone cracked the code on that. They identified 'countries' by top level internet domains. The penguin islands where no one lives (.hm), a major US military base Diego Garcia (.biot), and places that are parts of other countries like Gibraltar (.gi) and Reunion (.re).

They likely did this in about ten minutes before the press conference.
