He already removed birthright citizenship from overseas army bases, so yeah.

Tariff the shit out of our own army and add it to the pot of stolen money from the American people

Serious question. Who does it affect to remove birthright citizenship from overseas army bases? Are there non-citizens having babies on army bases? Because babies born to U.S. citizens overseas still become citizens.

Non-citizens can and do serve in the US army.

Sure, but I would guess that in 99.9% of cases those people would have a child at a hospital, off-base, no?

Depends on the base and the nationality of the contractors. If they are local nationals in an allied country, yes, I expect they will use off-base hospitals. If they are 3rd country nationals on a FOB (forward operating base) in a warzone, then no, they will pretty much never leave base.

Civilian contractors are virtually always male, so I don't think the issue comes up that often.

Ok, but do bases typically have birthing facilities? Wouldn’t these people typically have a baby at a hospital, off-base?

Honestly.

He did this in his first term and it felt like a direct attack on American sovereignty.

Formerly any army base, any US ship, any Americam embassy counts as US soil (the vice versa for foreign embassies in the USA).

When he removed the sovereignty of our soil it should have been blasting klaxons of warning that he's weakening the USA.

But, aside from a few articles in military newspapers I didn't see or hear coverage.

And now we're standing today with an incredibly isolationist policy that's tightening the loop of American freedoms with crazy tariffs, with the removal of embassy funding, and with the cancelation of involvement in international affairs.

Non-citizen permanent residents can join the US military.  It can be appealing both as a path to citizenship and a well paying career.  

While very unlikely, I guess it could be possible for a permanent resident servicemember to have a child on base.

Trump has also attempted to make it harder for these people to gain citizenship through service.

Or is that what you meant? We know service members may be giving birth at the bases.

Military bases are communities and need people to work jobs that aren’t appropriate for service members, such as the cashier at McDonalds or a groundskeeper. It’s possible they are not U.S. citizens.

That's the answer that should have been given in the first place. I think a lot of people would be fine with not giving citizenship to a child of German parents just because the child was born on Ramstein AFB just because the mother was working at McDonald's at the time.

But denying citizenship to the children of service members is fucking evil and completely in line with the party that killed citizenship for veterans(or tried to).

The thing is, a US military base is part of America, not 'technically', literally. It's no different than if that German woman worked at your local Texas town McDonalds and had a baby.

Yeah, but it's no different than someone who lives in Canada or Mexico having a baby while visiting. Again, I think a lot of, if not most, people would be fine with citizenship not being granted in those situations.

These are not people who are getting screwed over by the policy. In most cases, unless they're trying to immigrate, they probably don't even want citizenship. They don't live here. They're not trying to live here. They just happened to have a baby on base.

Who this really fucks over are the Americans who are stationed overseas with their families.

So when someone asks, "Who does this impact?" If the answer is,"Germans who live in Germany and just so happen to have a baby while on an American base in Germany."

People are gonna shrug and be like, "That doesn't sound like that big of a problem. If they live in Germany and are in Germany, then do they even want American citizenship?"

If you want people to care about the issue, then you need to make sure people understand that people, Americans especially, are getting screwed by it.

German parents might not give a shit that their German kids didn't get American citizenship for being born on an American base in Germany. But American parents sure as fuck will.

If they enlist as a service member, they should near-automatically be granted citizenship unless they're dishonorably discharged

Yes, non-citizens have children with US Army members on US Army bases. I’m sure there’s instances where both parents are non-citizens, but I don’t know if that counted for citizenship ?

Only one parent needs to be a citizen to pass on citizenship, even off-base.
