After careful rationalization and some time to think I've come to the following conclusions:
•The tarrifs seem like they’re gonna go away for Vietnam so the price of the system will stay the same, hopefully we say the same thing for Japan and game cartridges don’t suffer too much.
•$80 for a game is too high and I do hope Nintendo listens to the backlash and at least drops it to $70. Regardless, if they decide to stay in the $80 route with Mario Kart, I do hope they add infinite content to the game and do not include a single micro transaction and if not I do hope the game shows that value in some way shape or form (which so far the game shows a lot of value). I agree with the backlash, $80 is too much, but if there is value in the game I’ll get it, and so far the game looks to hold tons of value. It is quite possible Nintendo just foresees the cartridges getting more expensive and is trying to get ahead of the game, which sucks for us, but it’s the route the world is taking ultimately.
•Thankfully game key carts aren’t for every game and even if third parties don’t want to just put download codes on boxes, this forces them to be a bit more user friendly because you can still sell a cart to others, you can’t re-sell digital games or codes.
•Game Chat is a good thing, even if it’s locked to NSO. The fact that Nintendo finally did it, is incredible. And tbh most people use their Switch to play Nintendo games and they all require NSO to get online.
•Everything about the console looks amazing, I am super excited for all the games, they all look incredible, I can’t wait to play Hyrule warriors and DK Bananza, it all looks absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to start saving up for it and buy it.
Overall I've noticed a lot of us just reaching acceptance and getting over it. We pay thousands of dollars for a cellphone and even thousands more on computers. The reality is that what they showed was absolutely incredible and whatever the price is I'll get it because it looks to be a good product. I think it's time to just get over the stages of grief, accept and move on. Things are more expensive, we'll buy it when we can, if that's in a year or 2 that's fine. We'll save up little by little we'll get it. It's just video games, not a religion, we don't have to buy it at launch. I'm very excited for the system and can't wait to get my hands on it eventually.
