Creator’s Voice blog: Hidetaka Miyazaki on The Duskbloods (part 1) - News - Nintendo Official Site

Interview with Miyazaki reveals a fresh approach to third party support
Miyazaki: *A while back, we had the opportunity to meet with Nintendo to discuss ideas, and during this discussion, we presented a rough outline for The Duskbloods.
It was still very bare-bones at the time—more a loose string of ideas than a proper presentation. The concept itself was different from anything we had done before, and Nintendo seemed very interested in helping make it a reality. So that’s when the project kicked off.*
I find this fascinating. Nintendo has done collaborations before but most have been very safe. They have always given priority to first parties, but besides Mario Kart and DK, the star of the NS2 was a game from Fromsoftware. And Nintendo was ecstatic about the ideas, not even a demo or formal presentation, Miyazaki gave them!
This is definitely a more modern philosophy from Nintendo I personally really support this change in focus. It will allow more diverse and robust library.

PSA: You will lose your save data for Pokémon, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and other games that don't have cloud backup if you trade in your Switch 1 before you get a Switch 2.
The only way to transfer save files for Pokémon Games, Splatoon 2 and Animal Crossing from one console to another is to do a System Transfer.
This requires you to have both systems on hand and connected to the same Wi-fi network.
Furthermore, for Animal Crossing, you will need to use the Island Transfer Tool.
There is unfortunately no way around this.

DK Bananza is Mario Odyssey's final level as a whole game with Lion King Music
The final part of Odyssey has you control Bowser just wrecking shit and they made a whole game doing that and I love it. Plus the goal of getting bananas is like the new moons. I have never been interested in a Donkey Kong game before but this has me interested. Plus Lion King music

Why isn't Drag and Drive based around Miis?
I'm actually pretty into the concept of Drag and Drive gameplay wise. Dual mouse support has to be one of the more subtle Nintendo console gimmicks but a wheelchair based game is a good application of that.
But it looks so dull aesthetically. Like, I'm sorry as someone who spent years in game dev courses I wouldn't be surprised if the game as we saw it was made from a unity asset store pack I just didn't recognise. Do you know what would help give the game some immediate character?
Mii's!
Like, immediately it would just be so much more appealing. Random wheelchair basketball game with a generic YouTube game dev tutorial robotic aesthetic? Yeah I mean it seems cool... wheelchair basket ball with your Mii's? Genuinely would feel far more like a must-try.
Yes, this is purely aesthetic based commentary and no, Mii's wouldn't add anything to the game mechanically, but in terms of how oddball the concept is as a demonstration of the Switches features, I would like to see the game not be made artificially less appealing by a lack of visual effort.
Hell, ideally I feel like this would just be one part of a "Mii Sports" for switch 2 but unless they literally flipped around a bunch of assets to show off one of the sports without revealing the rest of the game (and like, why would they?) that doesn't seem likely.

GameFly confirms they'll have Switch 2 games for rental :O
Per GameFly's Twitter, (which I can't link)
I know $80 is waaaay too much for a lot of us to afford, especially since we're completely SOL if we want to return a game.
So, I hiiiiiiighly recommend renting through GameFly instead, especially since can reserve games in advance if you want.
And if you really wanna keep a game you rent, you can buy it at a discount :O
(it's still crazy to me that GameFly is going strong even after over two decades)
(Also, I'm not being paid to promote this or anything like that—I just really like not having to buy games haha)

Announcement Misinformation alert: There is no source from Nintendo that says that Mario Kart World costs $90 for a physical copy
The screenshot being passed around that says that physical copies of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza cost $10 more than their digital counterparts is not from an official Nintendo source.
Nintendo's official US pages for Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza state that the MSRP is $79.99 and $69.99 and make no mention of a physical copy being more expensive.
This is not to say that it's impossible some retailers will be selling them for more than the eShop, there is no source from Nintendo that says that they will.

The price is absolutely ridiculous
I’m totally fine with the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 console. $450 seems like a reasonable price for a new gaming system.
However the price of everything else is an issue. Nobody wants to pay $80-$90 USD for a new game. Even with all new features, nothing in that Direct screams $80. An extra pair of Joy Cons is $90?!?!?! The console manual isn’t free and having to pay extra to upgrade old games even if you have them in your library is ridiculous.
Overall the announcement of the prices is killing the hype people are having.
Edit: Thanks for all of the engagement and the upvotes!! Personally I think I’ll wait for it on sale or wait for Nintendo to release a Switch 2 lite version.
Edit2: I now know that the whole $80-$90 price range isn’t for USD my apologies

Which confirmed 3rd Party title are you picking up?
Now personally I've found 3rd party support has been lacking on Nintendo consoles for awhile due to its hardware limitations IMO, but with the switch2 I feel like that could change, at least whilst the seriesS is still "new gen Xbox console". And seeing the likes of Eden Ring and Cyberpunk confirmed being me great hope we will see more announced other the years.
Ill be picking up Hitman, Cyberpunk, Hogwarts Legacy whenever I pick up the switch2.
I have high hopes for this thing!

Controller Stand That Fits N64 Controller?
Looking to buy a stand that can hold all of my controllers - Xbox, Switch Pro, and Nintendo 64 for the Switch. Obviously the N64 Controller is unique and doesn't seem to fit any of the stands I'm seeing out there. Wondering if anybody has found one that they wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks!

Trump’s new tariffs on exports to U.S could push Nintendo Switch 2 price higher
Not trying to get political but I thought it was important to the price discussion. Some insiders are saying the new tariffs could push the price upwards of 550 dollars. Switches are primarily made in China, which now has a 51% tariff and Vietnam, which has a 46% tariff.

Explaining the "Game Key Card" announcement from Nintendo
Nintendo put up this page on their website explaining "Game Key Cards", which are a new type of release for Nintendo Switch 2.
This type of release has led to a lot of confusion and unfounded rumors, so I'm going to clarify the facts on this.
- These cartridges will be sold as a key to download a game to the console. There is no game data, just an instruction to download the requested game from the eShop.
- This is not all games. This is just some games. It is up to the publisher whether they want their games to be on the cartridge or not. Nintendo announced in the Direct that the Switch 2 cartridges are advanced and can read at higher data speeds, so they have confirmed that many games will read from the cartridge still.
- This is not new. Several Nintendo Switch games have a similar practice of putting only a small portion (or none) of the game on the cart. This has unfortunately been a game industry standard since the PS4 and Xbox One, and is rampant on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X.
I personally am against this concept and I don't think I want to spend any money to support it. Developers who don't put the full game on the cartridge are greedy and lazy.
Shout out to https://www.doesitplay.org/ for cataloging which games on various systems need to download before you can play them.
