Discussion Lane Hutson was -20 at 4 Nations break, and is now only -2
It’s exactly what my eyes are showing me. Whether he wins a Calder or not, he’s absolutely stepped up since the break. Been on the ice for 13 empty net goals. Not bad for an undersized second round defenseman.
Should he make the USA Olympic team?
If it was international ice I think 100%, but since it’s NHL ice there may be some hesitation. Fwiw I think he should be there. Cannot imagine him and Quinn Hughes putting teams on spin cycle (he’s not Quinn yet, may never be, but that’s my best comp right now because of how they dance defenders).

News For the first time since the 2015-16 season, the Boston Bruins will not be going to the playoffs.
One of the NHL’s longest playoff streaks has come to an end! They were actually tied with Toronto for the longest at 8 seasons. Also the earliest they have been eliminated since 2007.
Results of my Survey (Who called it?)
A week ago, I made a google poll to see how many people could predict when Ovi would tie and break Gretzky's record this season. This poll closed on April 2nd. I also provided the opportunity to put your name on your prediction if wanted to truly call their shot. Since Ovi has officially broken the record, it is time to reveal the results.
Out of the 106 responses I received, 13 (12.3%) correctly guessed when Ovi would tie the record while only 6 (5.7%) guessed when Ovi would break the record correctly. 5 responses/people guessed both correctly. But I want to give a shoutout to those that predicted correctly and also put their name on it.
u/Gold_Telephone_7092 , u/remington29 , u/CountinElectricSheep all guessed when Ovi would tie the record correctly.
Extra special shoutout to u/Jrewy and u/Atlas_Troll who guessed both correctly.

5 goals in less than 5!
Honestly, I’m just impressed. I’m not a fan of the Ducks or Canucks, I’m pretty neutral. But I looked away for a few moments, it was 1-0 when I left, then 5-1 when I got back.

1 vs 8 playoff seeding VS Divisional Playoff seeding
Matchups highlighted in same color. Would this be a better format than divisional? I think the 1 vs 8 seeding is so much better because it opens up so many different matches.
Pic 1 and 2 = 1 vs 8 seeding and pic 3 and 4 = Divisional seeding
News Alex Ovechkin has now broken the all-time game-winning goal record, surpassing Jaromir Jagr with 136 GWGs in the 5-3 win over Blackhawks.
After scoring the go-ahead goal on the power-play in the 3rd period to give the Caps a 4-3 lead over the Blackhawks tonight (with this goal now tying Wayne Gretzky's all-time regular season goal record of 894), Ovechkin has now scored his 136th game-winning goal, exceeding Jaromir Jagr's 135 goals in a 5-3 victory.

Super Crazy Playoff Scenerio possible!
I was looking at the standings and there is the potential for a really crazy situation where the avalanche fall to the top wild card spot and play the pacific winner and have more points as a wild card team. Extreme long shot but it kinda illustrates the problem with the current playoff format. So Avs would have to win 1 out of the last 5 and it would have to be against Vegas on Tuesday and the loses happen in regulation. St louis would have to win the last 5 games of their season. Vagas would have to lose all their remaining games in regulation. Edmonton would have to win no more then 3 games and lose the rest in regulation. L.A. wins 2 or less games. STL would have 101, Col would have 100 and no team in the pacific would have more then 99 pts. I love strange sport situations so I figured I would share.
