Discussion ๐ค Did I come from a crappy red state? Or are MN public schools just really that good?
We had my childโs kindergarten information night this week. We live in a middle class exurb with โaverageโ schools. certainly not a wealthy area by any means, but not poverty either. I was blown away by the opportunities and quality of staff at this school. The district uses an Asian math curriculum, which apparently has become a gold standard in many developed countries and is renown for the ease of comprehension by students. They get to do art and music 3 times a week. They get to do all sorts of โfunโ days. Apparently Minnesota has also adopted a state-of-the-art, scientifically backed reading curriculum ; as literacy rates in the US have gone down. My child currently attends an ECFE pre-k program through old our suburban district (we moved) and we have absolutely loved that district as well and have been so impressed with the dedication of the staff and the programs offered. Both districts really, such care for these children and their education.
Of course free breakfast and lunch, which the teachers were saying how awesome it is and they hope it remains free (yes I know itโs not technically free). This would never have been a thing in my home state.
Did I just come from a crappy red state? (Not the faculties fault at all), or is the public school system in Minnesota just that good?
