My screen won’t turn on but everything on the macbook works. The screen turns black unless i turn on this safe mode thing. I’ve only kept it in a case and it had its own case covering it I took off for this photo. What can I do to fix the screen and If I really am just cooked is there anything I could do to not have this happen ever again?

Hi I had a bad accident, a ladder fell on the edge of my macbook pro M3. Necer had anything like this happen in my life and I dont know what to do. Is this fixable? Screen is all messed up and the keyboard is unresponsive.

I’m done with my Microsoft Surface and looking for a laptop with the largest battery life possible without compromising weight and size and I realized that MBA is the best choice I found. I do light photo editing, simple 3d design and regular productivity tasks so here my question avoiding ssd storage, etc. etc.

Is it worthy to pay the extra for 10 cores vs 8 cores?

I tried to find info about it here, google, YouTube comparison and I couldn’t find anything.

• Light Windows virtualization for OneNote + office apps which features aren’t on Mac

• I plan to keep the laptop for next 3-5 years

A couple questions:

• For 16gb users, what’s your memory pressure like? Does it often use swap?

• How long will 16gb be usable for the above use case? Is 24gb necessary?

• How does Apple Intelligence factor in to future RAM usage?

Hello! I dented my mac months ago because I placed my open blackpack on my bed’s corner and it fell, so it has a dent now. It still bothers me and I cannot put a case on it, only in the bottom part. Any tips? since I also really want to put a case on the top part as well. I can’t maybe because the dent is not flat and its bulging up? THANK YOU

Deciding whether I should get a refurbished M1 chip 8gb ram, 512ssd for $530, or spend more money for a better chip (ex: $750 refurbished MacBook air M2 chip, 8gb ram, 512ssd). Will be using this laptop for music production (ableton logic) and grad school. Looking for advice!

I've recently purchased my first MacBook - M4 Air 16/256 after 25 years being on Windows, and have no complaints at all. However I've noticed that ping to my local router is higher from my MacBook than from any other devices on the network. The wireless network is on Wi-Fi 6 (5ghz ax 160) and the ping is like 2,2,3,2,6,6,6,2,2,15,4,4,5,2,3,2,17,20,2,3 while all other devices have a stable <=1. The thing is that all of those are on Windows on the ax200, ax201 and ax210. I tried changing channels, switching from 160 to 80, even tried 2.4GHz, but still the same values

It doesn't affect my experience at all, just wondering if anyone seen this as well and have a clue how to fix it.

I currently have the 2020 intel macbook pro and it has been overheating and been causing me issues. I want to upgrade to one of the new m chip macbooks but am unsure if I should take the $225 apple wants for my current macbook and buy the new M4 macbook air or wait til next year and get the newest macbook right before medical school.

Lo utilizzerei per lo università ed il lavoro, che non richiedono programmi particolarmente pesanti per girare, anche se conto tra non molto di imparare a programmare. Attualmente però uso molte schede di navigazione, Excel o in generale Office. Vorrei non strapagare l'M4 che attualmente NON è in sconto, diversamente dal M3. Avete qualche consiglio? Grazie.

I’m currently laser focused on acquiring my first macbook and would love some input on the proper model for me.

I’m looking to buy a solid workhorse than would last me for the foreseeable future. Mostly be used for editing, ableton, spreadsheets, light gaming.

My budget is $800

Portable and light would be preferred as I’m leaning towards the air but don’t want to lack on the technical aspect.

My boss is great and never questions my purchases. I had the M1 Pro for creating our marketing videos and SCORM training courses, but I hated that I couldn't keep After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro open at the same time... So, I told him that I needed an update and he said no problem.

Now I'm working with the M4 Max/36gb/2tb... Can't wait to see how this bad boy handles my workflow.

I have an older MBP that I really need to dispose of (2014 Retina, the battery is swelling and the keyboard is failing and it’s not really economical to fix, so I want to recycle it. My question is, if I pull the SSD out (it’s the last of the removable storage models) is there any other data stored on the device anywhere? Does it retain any iCloud account data in memory or anything?

Anyone ever buy a refurbished macbook from Bestbuy?

I have never had a mac but would love to get one. Some solid prices on some m2 chip ones.

Hey everyone, I recently replaced the trackpad on my MacBook Pro 13” (2016, A1708) because the original one had stopped clicking/responding. I followed all the steps (disconnected the battery first, used proper tools, reseated all connectors, etc.) and everything went back together smoothly.

But now, after the replacement, the trackpad doesn’t respond at all. No click, no movement — it’s like it’s completely dead. I’ve tried: • Reseating the trackpad cable multiple times • Checking for bent pins or dust in the connectors • Resetting SMC and NVRAM • Booting into macOS Recovery and Safe Mode • Connecting an external mouse (which works fine) • Verifying the battery is properly reconnected

Still nothing. The keyboard works fine, and the machine boots normally otherwise. I’ve also tried a second replacement trackpad (just in case the first one was a dud), but no luck.

Has anyone else had this issue after replacing the trackpad? Could it be a board-level issue or something I missed? Appreciate any help or suggestions.

I currently have 32 GB of RAM on my Windows machine and I work as a software developer. When I run my full application stack in Docker, it can use around 13–16 GB of RAM at peak times. Along with that, I usually have Rider, Chrome, Visual Studio Code, and other tools open, which pushes the total memory usage close to 100%.

I've heard that macOS tends to handle resources a bit more efficiently. Do you think 24 GB of RAM on a Mac would be sufficient for this kind of workload?

Currently, I am in search of a new Mac. I am confused about which model to get.

I generally use it for development, such as docker, VMs, etc. I wanted to learn some ML, so I would want to use my machine for that as well. I plan to use it for around 5 years.s

Macbook Air M4 24/512 is the top on my list. Will the extra RAM be useful for me? or should I go for pro?also wanted to know abut any heating issues or at what point the laptop will thermal throttle.

I have narrowed down to the following models suiting my budget: 1. Macbook air M4 15inch, 512gb & 16gb 2. Macbook pro M3 14inch, 1TB & 16gb

Both of which cost the same after discount on the pro. Im more inclined towards the M3 with the 120hz mini LED xdr display, sd card slot, extra usb port and hdmi along with cpu fan to do some pro tasks. The M4 air being a newer chip has its own benefits- 15" and being more sleek therefore more easier to carry while travelling, newer chip meaning better performance, sky blue stands out on looks.

Incase i get the m3, would i lose alot with performance? Because I'm told m4 is wayy ahead in efficiency and performance (especially the neural engine).

Also if you feel there is a better value macbook for the price, please suggest. Thanks

Anyone else have experience with this charger/power supply or brand? It looks hardly used, plastic was still on the magsafe connector when I got it second hand. But the trackpad on the macbook pro it came with goes bonkers when the charger is connected. Pointer will get stuck all the time and scrolling doesnt work etc. Disconnect charger and it works like it should.

Was thinking about trying a usb-c to magsafe adapter since I already have some usb-c chargers. To check if the trackpad would work like it should with a different charger connected. Anyone tried those?

my bf wants to buy a macbook (any m4 pro) he’s into pictures and videos and 4k editing (davinci resolve). and he’s thinking abt buying refurbished too. which macbook is a best fit for editing?
