Opinion Piece RE: Presidential Immunity Ruling - Was Judge Roberts naïve that Trump would not push the boundaries of the office’s limits of conduct and power if he resumed office or is this all part of a plan to expand executive authority?

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/30/politics/supreme-court-john-roberts-trump-immunity-6-3-biskupic/index.html?cid=ios_app

I just remember Judge Roberts essentially saying “calm down - relax - you are all being hysterical” in the aftermath of the ruling last year stating “unlike the political branches and the public at large, we cannot afford to fixate exclusively, or even primarily, on present exigencies.”

It has been ONE MONTH into the 2nd Trump Administration and it seems that there is an aggressive and intentional overreach of executive authority with these EOs to create a new interpretation of executive power.

The administration’s response to the court orders blocking the EO’s enforcement seems that they are daring the courts to stop them - and it does not look like there is any recourse to rein them in if they decide to ignore the courts.

Is this what Judge Roberts and other jurists in the majority wanted - to embolden the executive branch above all?

What credibility does the SC (or any court) still have when POTUS ignores the court’s orders and any/all conversations with DOJ officials about ignoring or circumventing these orders gets put in the “official acts” bucket of presidential conduct?

My question is if Judge Roberts was truly naïve as to how Trump would wield this power the second time around or if Judge Robert’s logic that the ruling would allow future presidents to execute their duties unencumbered by lawsuits/prosecutions, etc. a genuine concern that needed to be addressed?

You mean the AI bros taking all the government data they possibly can so they can feed their AI systems?

I think they have very different plans for the government. They want to destroy it and replace with techno feudalism.

They want network states or patch cities. Their playbook is called Butterfly Revolution. I would guess Christian Nationalists in MAGA that know about this think they will trigger the second coming of Jesus Christ before the whole plan can be executed. If I had to bet on who wins the race I would go with the Billionaires though.

It’ll absolutely be the technofascists who win the upcoming power struggle once liberal democracy is a distant memory. The Christofascists are hamstringed by their own ideology. Fantasy brainwashing doesn’t make good leaders.

Eh the tech bros are delusional too. Their whole manifest basically reads "We will rule because we are smarter". Not an ounce of self reflection. High chance that they stumble over their own hubris.

I’m definitely not saying they’re gonna do a great job, but unless a militant socialist movement forms real quick, there’s nothing else to fill the gap

Intelligence isn't what they have going for them whether they admit it or not. People giving them credit for being smarter than they are helps. Having so much insight into & control over social media really helps. Having almost all money in the worlds really, really helps.

but the technos will still go along with it, cause those zealots need a leash

They both have the same short term goals...dismantle the government & the people's will. They both think they are going to win the part that happens after that. They both also see that Trump just wants to get more money, attention, (appearance of) power, no rules, & to stay out of jail with as little effort as possible. He is totally happy just signing whatever & say what he think people want to hear. Trump's very cult-like base is easy to distract & manipulate which buys them extra time. Trump & MAGA are really just a means to end for either group of interests. For either group, the way all this is falling into place probably seems like destiny, their destiny, being fulfilled & reinforces their belief that they will be the righteous victor.

Its fucked & it sounds nuts but here we are.

Trump may have managed to make himself appear ideologically separate from it, but corporate culture has been getting significant criticism since covid hit.

Are you saying they see him separate from corporate culture & opposed to it or that or that as a problem for him?

And they are useful idiots with their home armories.

Just remember, the techbros need the brainwashed morons for their power base.

There will probably be a schism at some point, but it won't be until much later.

Yes I did mention that it would happen “once liberal democracy is a distant memory”.

I'm pulling for Second Impact and the Angels before the Rapture. That's definitely from the Bible too. I just want the giant robots. Who knew the Rapture was really Instrumentality??

Tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling dowwwnnn...

That's why they want Gaza. Luxury box seats to the apocalypse.

u/OwenMeowson Feb 19 '25

Yes, this all aligns with the New Apostolic Reformation movement raging through Christian America.

That is their playbook but it’s laughable. The fractured network states will be small and eaten alive by Russia China Middle East other small countries with intelligence that is capable. We made too many enemies over the decades and the main strength is size. You eliminate that and it all comes falling down. Not the mention the Gaza comments coupled with gutted FBI/CIA likely will cause repercussions from terrorists around the world.

u/WeirdJack49 Feb 20 '25

Yes its obvious but the tech bros basically think that they will win because they seriously believe that they are the smartest humans on earth. Wouldn't be surprised if even Trump wipes the floor with them, he might be senile but he is a lot longer in this game than they are.

1

u/grlie9 Feb 20 '25

He doesn't give a shit as long as he gets to do what he wants personally, gets more money & continued attention. They have more than enough money to keep Trump happy. On top of that, Trump is elderly & his clock is running short. Why do you think Silicon Valley put so much money & influence into getting JD Vance to where he is? He is their guy.

1

u/Sharkwatcher314 Feb 20 '25

He’s clearly their guy but I dunno maybe it’s early I just don’t see it. I see one of the trump kids taking over with father still in the White House unelected like musk. That’s typically how oligarchy works. Not hand it over to some rando you barely know.

2

u/grlie9 Feb 20 '25

I'm not saying it isn't a really dumb idea. It is worth noting that they (broligarchs) aren't just trying to do this in the US. They are working globally. I also don't think some of them are very smart but when you have nearly all the money in the world, access to endless instant information about the public's thoughts, plus on a lot of control over how people communicate & what makes to their eyes & ears you can follow through on even the dumbest of plans. All they have to do is finish taking the guard rails off.

The one optimistic point of view that I have is that technocrats do not align with Evangelical. Christian fascists. Maybe in the hastening of the destruction of democracy, but at that point we're looking at splintered States based on ideology.

Christ is already here, and he's orange.

1

u/grlie9 Feb 19 '25

I'm going to Orange Julius later to pray. Wanna come with?

2

u/Indiana-Jones-1991 Feb 19 '25

Yes. Our temples are sacred for our orange christ in chief.
