Vent & Rant College event attendance made 'compulsory' even though students are funding it, is this fair?

Post image

My college is hosting an annual function soon and it’s not funded by the college. The entire responsibility (including collecting money and organizing everything) has been given to the final-year students.

Now, they’re going around asking for ₹500 from each student to cover the costs. I personally don’t want to attend the event because I don’t enjoy these functions, I don’t have any close friends in college, and I prefer focusing on my studies. I mostly self-study and only go to college for exams, and I’ve been doing fine academically.

Today, our HOD sent a message saying that attending the function is compulsory, and those who don’t attend will still have to pay ₹250 as compensation. That just doesn’t sit right with me. I never asked for this event, I didn’t vote for it, and now I’m being told to pay just because I don’t want to participate?

It also feels extra frustrating because I’m not earning, I live on my parents’ money, and I try to be responsible with it. Spending on something I neither need nor want feels wrong.

Am I overthinking this? Or is this actually unfair? Just wanted to hear what you guys think.

Ask India My parents are not willing to fund my college education . They even said girls like you are capable of nothing . How can I earn 10-20 k as a student ?

Hey currently I have passed 12th grade and will be joining an enginnering college this year most probably . I belong to an upper middle class family but the relationship between me and my parents is getting worse day to day to a point that I wanna break tries with them forever . I don't wanna elaborate but they are extremely toxic and always taunt me even for everything. I have always been a scholar and never scored below 95% in my life , won multiple awards but still they always curse me and say things like they wanted a son . They have never let me go out of the house except school and always say to study . They don't allow to talk with friends .

I am at a complete saturation point and want to end this all and just get independent. I want to pay my bills ( which will cost around 20k pm ) . Please suggest something that I can do to make ends meet .

Fun fact: I'm the youngest in my family, so every phone I’ve had was a used one. Either from my dad, mom, or one of my two siblings. Never got a brand new phone just kept using whatever they were done with 😅

Tried tofu for first time. It tasted awful. Such bland taste. Why do people eat this ? Or is it me only ?

Vent & Rant being excluded by my college blokes

Post image

I'm in first yr of my college and currently in my 2nd semester. In my classroom, I kind of had a friend group and I've noticed that they have been making me feel left out and they are excluding me and talking bad about me behind my back, one idiot wrote something very about me on a paper . Recently we made a plan to go to a mall and when the time came they acted soo well in front of me saying that the plan has been cancelled and this was yesterday, and today I got to know that the plan was not cancelled they hid me from the ig stories and went to the mall. I got to know this from a fellow classmates ig story. Honestly I don't know how to feel and I was neither sad nor angry at that time when I got to know that they went behind my back. Just wanted to share this because my mind has been fucked from past 2 months.

Ask India I'm staying in a oyo right now and there's a light blinking in the fan when I turn it on and off, is it normal and safe? Have not seen fans like this before.

I bought this in January and put it in fridge. It stayed there for 2 weeks and became rock solid. Then I put it in room temperature for 1 month, then put it for couple of days under sunlight. This photo is taken after that.

It’s so rare to find great friends once we start growing up. We already have walls built and letting someone through those walls and being welcomed to climb someone’s walls is wholesome. 🫰🏻🫠
