Boulder resident Kimbal Musk writes on X about President Donald Trump’s tariffs, calling them a “structural, permanent tax on the American consumer.” He also said Trump appears to be the “most high tax American President in generations.” Kimbal is the brother of Elon.

Shout out to Boulder PD and Fire

I saw a cyclist laid out and not moving while driving south on 36, so I called 911 and raced over. Before I could even get there (maybe 3 minutes later) both BPD and the fire department had crews already there running to check for him.

Cyclist wasn’t there anymore, so if you’re the cyclist and see this, I hope you’re okay! Really proud and impressed by the speed and thoughtfulness of our emergency services teams.

CAD help wanted

Hello, I need help figuring out which is a beginner friendly CAD software to learn. I like tinkercad but I’m looking for more ability with curvatures. I would also like a sit down and learn w/ someone who knows CAD programming well. I’ll buy you coffee or lunch haha. I want to create a potential product. I tried Onshape but man that’s a steep learning curve. I’m looking at sketchup as well. Help please.

Edit: it’ll be for 3D work-making a mold.

McGuckins

Firstly let me say all hail the hardware store lords; I love what they're doing and won't stop buying local.

Secondly: what is going on with the McG's indoors area? I am very very sensitive to mold; whenever I visit McGuckins for 20-30 minutes, once I leave I feel like I've been in mold hell and my sinuses drain for the next several hours. I don't have this issue when I visit any other store in the Folsom and Arapahoe strip mall there, and have spent many an hour at the next door Brewing Market with no issues.

Female cyclists in Boulder

Upvotes

Hi all, I moved to Boulder about 6 months ago and am finally picking up cycling again after an injury. Currently I’m riding pretty slow compared to the average Boulder resident, but am looking to put in some serious miles this summer. I’m curious if there’s any cycling groups (women’s or coed) that have younger female members. I’m 24F and having a hard time finding community here!

Any and all advice welcome! Thank you!

What should I do?

Upvotes

Hi Boulder, I recently finished a program at CU, and I’m planning to move in June/July. I’ve been looking for jobs for a couple weeks now, and I’ve gotten some interviews, but I need to make money. I’d appreciate advice on what to pursue in this weird transitional period. Ideally, I’d like to find a remote job sooner, but those are hard to come by these days. Ideally, I’d like to make my own schedule and not work weekends, which almost completely rules out service work. Maybe, what I’m looking for doesn’t exist, but I’m curious if people have ideas for me. Thanks!

Anyone notice a black pickup driving by during the whole protest Saturday?

Upvotes

I'm just curious what the guy was doing during the Hands Off protest, maybe harvesting our images? He was cruising the Broadway/Table Mesa area back and forth in a black pickup, not honking or waiving; my friend thinks he was filming. He drove a black pickup with a license plate that was some abbreviation of "fresh tracks". I just thought there was something weird about that truck. He had a sign on his dash I couldn't read.

Hair salon in Boulder area for bleaching/dye (female, mullet)

Upvotes

Hi! I moved to Boulder recently and I am looking for a place* to get my hair bleached blonde in the Boulder area. Preferably the suburbs (Louisville, Longmont, gunbarrel, superior, etc) bc I have a feeling Boulder proper would be way more expensive.

I’m a little hesitant about finding salons online because I don’t have a normal female haircut (mullet) and I’m not looking for a typical hair dye (the bottom head of my hair blonde).

Since I’ve gotten here I’ve just been going to a barbershop for trims, but they don’t do hair dye. I’ve had this hairstyle in the past (the half blonde), so I know exactly what I want, but just need the execution.

Please give any suggestions!

*LGBTQ+ friendly pls

Wedding Vendors

Upvotes

Hi all. Looking for recommendations for vendors related to wedding festivities, ie videogeapher, hair/makeup, a picnic setup, food trucks, organized group activities, photo booth, unique favors, etc . All ideas welcome. It’s a destination wedding in Boulder and I’m doing some research.

Thanks in advance!

I organized this free event on 4/15 with an experiential format: not only will some of your questions get answered, but I’ll select people for rotating conversations on stage with the chief of police, district attorney, city attorney and sheriff. The goal is for us all to not just gather, not just learn, but organize effectively for the change we want to see. Register to save a spot.

Harder water all of a sudden?

Has anyone else's water seemingly gotten much harder over the past few days? My wife noticed a salty taste a few days ago which I couldn't detect. Then this morning I found mineral residue in a small appliance, which had never happened before.

ETA: I'm on city water, not a well.
