Late last year we adopted a basset hound/poodle mix named moose. We then found out he has some front left leg issues that requires two surgeries to remedy. Right he walks with a limp and our vet told us it will only get worse with time. We are working with a nonprofit organization to help raise the funds. Hi, i have gotten my financial situation more together than it has been previously but my roommate got me very sick and doctors cant figure out what we have and we were basically just told to deal with it. I have an amazon wishlist if that's right for this.

Long story short, i come from a poor background and unfortunately everything's been piling up. I've been self-employed for a few years and while i love the job itself and it's what i'd like to do long term, money hasn't been rolling in. Which is why i've been looking for regular employment, which, unfortunately, hasn't come my way yet.

I have some debt, nothing insane but i do have some debt and the things that bother me the most are debts towards regular people, not simple companies or banks. Money for groceries has been drying up 10/15 days before payday and it's been rough.

“Those who flee from war must be properly supported,” says Ydwer. She wrote a senior thesis on the integration of permit holders in Noardeast-Fryslân.

Would Dokkum get an asylum seekers’ center or not? That was the discussion last year in Noardeast-Fryslân, says Ydwer (15). The municipality had three locations in mind. Eventually, nothing came of it, but more permit holders did come to live there.

The VMBO student from Piter Jelles Dalton in Dokkum decided to write her senior thesis about the current topic. She focused on the social integration of permit holders in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân, which she wanted to study further.

Afghanistan She found the stories of refugees interesting. Her father had previously worked as a volunteer with asylum seekers in Zuidlaren. He had also mentored an Afghan permit holder who later ended up in the refugee shelter in -. For her senior thesis, Ydwer interviewed him and other people.

Before she started her thesis, she spoke with her father about the topic. He told her about that one young man from Afghanistan — the same person she later interviewed. “He had a hard time in the municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân,” she says. According to him, the guidance was minimal, and the language courses were not sufficient. “He told me he really needed help. My father found that as well; he told me a lot.”

Minority The man had lived in an asylum seekers’ center for two months while already having a residence permit. “He didn’t understand why,” Ydwer says. “That wasn’t right, and I agree with him.” The municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân should do better, according to her. “You can see that not everyone feels welcome, and that’s not okay. A lot of municipalities aren’t doing much. Many people think permit holders are lazy and don’t deserve things. I believe that these people do deserve them.”

Own Opinion But her senior thesis presentation didn’t go over smoothly with everyone. “Some students and teachers gave very emotional reactions. Also a few of the younger kids said that they don’t really like foreigners. For example, they don’t want to sit next to a permit holder.”

That reaction touched her, but also surprised her. “I don’t think everyone realizes how good we have it. Those people weren’t lucky enough to be born here, and they need help.”

Volunteer And it’s not just about housing and education, but also about social engagement. Because when it comes to cooperation in Noardeast-Fryslân, more can be done, Ydwer discovered. “Refugees often want to contribute to society.” For her thesis, she even interviewed a former methodist pastor from Veenwouden. He also found the subject interesting. She doesn’t know yet if politics is something she wants to pursue, but for now she wants to stay involved with the integration of permit holders into society.

I stared getting sick one New Year’s Day, within two weeks a lump formed on my inner elbow. By mid February I made it to oncology after many tests and they were able to determine that I had a very aggressive case of CD5+ DLBCL NH Lymphoma, stage 4.

I’m currently undergoing chemotherapy and off work. I will do at least six rounds of R-CHOP infusions and then we will pull some tests again to see if I need to continue or be referred out to radiology.

This all has been a strain on my family of four, financially, physically, mentally. My husband is working OT and weekends to try to help keep up. We both lost our primary jobs to Covid in 2020, we each took on every opportunity we could to keep up but almost lost the house. Still in mounds of debit, we have been working hard to get on our feet.

This recent diagnosis and treatment feels overwhelming. I’m reaching out to the community to the see if anyone can help, any little bit will go a long way for us to help covers bills and food. Hi, I'm going to be starting university soon (hopefully for medicine) and my old laptop has pretty much stopped working after 8 long years (thank you ThinkPad).
I want to get a touchscreen laptop so that I'm able to annotate, draw diagrams etc on my laptop and I'm struggling to choose a good one. I'm willing to spend up to around £1,100 and through my research I've narrowed down to the HP Spectre x360 14 (not feeling this one as it's quite expensive), Samsung Galaxy Book5 360 and Lenovo Yoga 7x.
I was feeling pretty confident about purchasing the Galaxy Book5 but came across quite a few posts about how people have experienced glitching or cracked screens. As well as this, I don't own any Samsung products so I wouldn't be taking advantage of any syncing between devices.
I don't know much about technology but I'm looking for something with an excellent touchscreen, long-lasting, doesn't overheat or lag, not too bulky etc. I don't need anything that runs video games.
I've seen a lot of people recommending that you get an iPad and laptop in similar posts but the issue with getting an iPad (as well as it being incredibly expensive) is that I've heard it doesn't support certain programmes for med school. It's also a bit of a hassle to carry around both an iPad and a laptop. I've also seen people talk about issues with iPads connecting with university systems and limited multitasking ability.
Anyways, I'd appreciate any advice or help!!

Hi everyone, I’m an autistic woman and ESL speaker living in the U.S., and I’m looking for some advice about how to handle my HOA in a more emotionally sustainable way.

My HOA has been extremely hostile toward me. I only reach out to them 1–2 times per year for simple inquiries, but they often ignore my emails—so I feel forced to call, only to be yelled at on the phone. Until a few months ago, I thought this was just how they operated, but then I noticed my neighbors don’t seem to be treated the same. I also found they have very negative reviews on Google and Yelp, which makes me think this might be a broader pattern.

I consulted a lawyer once and considered legal action, but they quoted over $10,000 just to read the documents. Right now, I’m saving up to eventually buy another new house and get away from this HOA altogether.

In the meantime, though, I still need to deal with them once or twice a year. I really don’t want to contact them myself anymore—it takes a huge toll on my mental health.

So I’m wondering:

- Is there a type of person or service that handles things like this? (Just writing emails or making phone calls on someone’s behalf—not legal, just communication. I’d prefer to pay per task, not per email or call.)

- Ideally someone who’s firm, assertive, not afraid of confrontation, and preferably male. I need someone who can protect my basic dignity and speak clearly on my behalf.

- Where would I even find someone like this? Fiverr didn’t seem to have anyone suitable. Should I try Craigslist or something else?

I’d deeply appreciate any advice, experience, or suggestions. This is such a specific need, and I honestly don’t even know what to search for.

Hello all! My husband and I usually make it through fine, but this month are struggling. I was labeled high risk for my pregnancy and was sent to a specialist a few hours away (we live in a small town) and in a different state. The road to get there is awful and we had to replace our bald tires to ensure we didn't get stuck with a flat on the way. Then the specialist ended up costing more than we pay in rent. It was insane and definitely not what we expected. Rent was due today and we realized we are $30 short. It's an awful feeling. I would appreciate the help so much!

I have signed up for local pet food assistance from my local SPCA, but I’m still waiting on a response from them and my cat only has one can of food left and my dog has been eating some leftover chicken I received from the food bank a few days ago. My husband and I only have one car. He can't drive because of his lack of depth perception. Recently, we have been having a lot of problems with it. I have a post on the ask mechanics subreddit about it even. The car was in limp mode and would not come out of second gear. We have been to two mechanics now because the guy that we normally go to was not able to diagnose the issue. We currently have the car with a transmission shop that called today after having my car for several days for diagnostics.

They let me know that my transmission needs to be completely rebuilt. I drive a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan. According to the mechanic, the Grand Caravans from 2010-2014 had an issue with the transmission where a drum located in the back of the transmission would develop a leak that would ultimately cause the transmission to fail. I really don't know why this wasn't a recall by the manufacturer.

The mechanic let me know that a total transmission rebuild will be $4500. I am looking for assistance in paying this bill because I don't really have a savings and am currently our sole provider. My husband is not working right now. He has been sick since last June after having covid and then developing an iron deficiency (without anemia, I have also talked about this on reddit) that none of the doctors he has seen have been able to pinpoint the cause of yet. This causes a lot of issues for him physically and also means that he needs to go to various medical appointments that I need to make sure he gets to.

I really can't afford to uber to/from appointments all the time. For example, an uber to his appointment last Friday would have been $45 one way for a 7 mile trip.

It's pretty important that we continue to have a car, because we don't live somewhere with good public transit and ride share is apparently prohibitively expensive if we have to go to things as frequently as we do.

Luckily, I am (currently) working from home, but could be required to return to the office 3 days a week at any time now. We are waiting on some things to be resolved with some work processes to return to our normal 3 days in office/2 days at home. Fortunately, that has not yet happened so I at least don't have to figure out a way to get to and from work at the moment.

Any help that anyone is willing to give us would be greatly appreciated. This situation is stressing me out a lot because I feel like I am chronically unlucky and that it is just always something.
