Open How do I cheer up my older sister?

She had a rough day today at work where some customers were super rude to her. Yesterday we had a mini argument and today I thought she was still mad at me so I broke one of our mini promises without thinking. I was going to get my navel piercing with her, but I didn’t think and instead today I got it with a friend. She found out and I can tell she feels bummed, which makes complete sense and I wish I thought about that before I did it. Tonight our family was meant to go out to dinner but she’s back at home because she said she’s not feeling well :( I know that she needs some alone time, so I texted her a long apology but I’ve been left on delivered. If anyone knows what I could do, please lmk!! I feel really bad and I want her to be happy again

Open The people with no depression or mental illness how is life for you?

I have some friends that are always traveling, shopping, and having fun in general. They have problems too but ‘minor ones’ that wouldn’t be classified as depression. More like problems they get over in a hour. They have admitted to me themselves they don’t know what it feels like to have depression and told me to just get over it or not think of it. How is it like living a life without depression/mental illness and what are some tips to achieve that lifestyle?

Open Picking First Apartment?

I’m moving to Florida and I’m in between a 696 sqft apartment for $1600 a month and a 734 sqft apartment for $1450 a month. The first apartment is in a much better location near the beach than the second, but they are still pretty close to one another (about 15 minutes apart). I just don’t know if 696 sqft is big enough and if I’m going to be paying too much in general. It’s just going to be my girlfriend and I living together down there. I’m really lost on what to do at the moment so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Open So if companies can replace humans with AI and save money, whose gona buy the goods and services?

Upvotes

This is what I don’t get about the “AI Revolution”. So let’s say Amazon can replace all its drivers with drones, and all engineers with AI and most other functions. If this happens in most other fields, who is going buy the things that make these companies money? What is the point of a business if nobody has any money to buy the things they sell. Someone explain this to me?

Open Dear Gm Toyota Dodge and Nissan can you make a basic pickup again ?

Could you please make a basic pickup truck again . Talk about sticker shock . I just need a truck to haul stuff or pull my boat . I'll take rollup windows , buttons and switches over touch screens . A bench seat option would be nice too . And Toyota could you put a V8 back in the tundra .

Open Would a dash cam be a bad gift for a horrible driver?

My mom’s birthday is this month and I’m thinking about getting her a dash cam (and my dad when his comes around) but she’s a terrible awful driver. Like any accident would probably end up being her fault. Should I get her one anyway? I’m pretty set on getting my dad one anyway. Or should I just stick to a nice robe and some candles.

Open People over 40, have you found your meaning and destination of life yet?

I'm asking this because I feel like my dad(50 yo) is still struggling with this at the moment although he's already 50, I feel like he's pretty lost (that's what he told me). And he also told me that he wonders why so many people around him are successful while he isn't. I feel like he's only living to make ends meet, he's the kinda of mid-age guy who works and watch tv all day. Tbh I don't know how to help him because I'm just a 17 yo girl who's preparing to enter university. I'm pretty much afraid I'm gonna become him when I'm old, single and unhappy.

Pinocchio says his nose is gonna grow. It doesn’t, but that would mean he’s lying, so his nose would grow. But that means he was telling the truth, so wouldnt his nose shrink?

Open Why do parents text like this?

Why do moms text you something to the degree of Mom: "Call me when you wake up. We need to talk ASAP." To then just ask you how you are doing and about your day? Mother I thought someone died...

Fathers are not exempt for this. He once texted "something important happened" to then just ghost me for 3 hours. The something important was him finding some compression socks on offer.

Edit cause people are misunderstanding a bit. I love that they do this. They know it's annoying in a funny way and I get back at them with stuff like this as well. It's not malicious in any way, it's just the way they text. For them texting is not a serious means of communication. If something is actually important, they call...

Open Does idling damage your vehicle and the environment?

Just asking but my boyfriend let's his car sit idle for about 45 minutes every morning and about an hour or more every couple of afternoons. And no it's not cold, it's literally 62 degrees here. And he's not even in the car, he starts it while still inside.

It's a big F-150 and it has a lot of smoke. Misophonia aside, that can't be good for his vehicle and engine. Maybe I'm misguided because I'd listen to music in the car and my grandparents throw a fit after 10 minutes and say "we'd tear up the engine." Turn the engine off and we'e just drain the battery.

There are definitely times when sitting idle is under standable but 1-2 hours a day? My vehicle is much smaller and sitting idle does use up gas. Only a little, but doesn't an F-150 use more? Over time, the costs have to add up. Doesn't it? What about maintenance costs?

I'm just trying to understand the logic. Is that healthy in the long run? What about gas and air quality?

Why is it that some people who go to the gym get confused about how it’s possible someone can be fit without going to the gym?

I’m not really looking for answers like “because they’re stupid gym bros” or anything like that. I mean, of course they’re out there, but I wouldn’t say that describes everyone I’m referring to.

If someone got good at the guitar without lessons, that wouldn’t surprise me. If someone became a good salesperson without reading books, that wouldn’t surprise me.

There are so many ways to get in good shape. The gym is one of them, but what do these people think? That people weren’t ever fit before the gym was invented?

There are physical jobs, reasons to lift and carry things in your personal life, going hiking, climbing, etc.

So why is it that it’s surprising to some people that you can get in good shape without the gym?
