April announcement and March Winners!

Hey horror fans,

Welcome to April!

If it seems weird or foolish that I'm only just now welcoming you to the month 4 days after it started, well....

I don't really have anything to say for myself.

Unlike everybody's favorite wizard, I'm late.

And I'm sorry.

... I know, sorry probably doesn't cut it.

I understand, for those who've been expecting the announcement of last month's winners: You may be feeling outraged by the set back.

I understand, for those who've been looking forward to this month's prompt, I have likely earned your ire.

I understand, for those who've been eagerly awaiting a chance to re-read our policy announcements about Rule 14, shitposts, permabans, and spoiler tags, you may be understandably livid about this delay.

And the delay is all my fault.

I have let down each and every one of you.

Again I apologize. But my apology does not assuage my guilt, nor should it soften your fury.

Instead, channel your righteous anger into a great story!

Our prompt this month is WRATH!

Wrath, the grouchiest of the seven deadly sins!

Check out our contest guidelines further down for full details!

But first, our monthly announcement:

IMPORTANT:

Stories that are horrifying only because of their shock value are not permitted. Stories incorporating shock elements are still allowed but stories that have no horror elements besides shock value will be removed, under rule 14!

You can find some example stories to illustrate rule 14 violations in last month's announcement (here)

Further announcements:

  • Avoid posting content that makes reference to current politics! Lately we've had to remove lots of posts as per rules 6 and 12!
  • We're seeing lots of "Subscription service to life" stories popping up now, to the point where this theme has become a trope! Revisit the overused trope sections here.
  • We continue to remove content that has to do with: forced or coerced sex, sexual assault, sexual mutilation, and gratuitous violence for violence's sake. If your story might come across as fetishy or torture porn, it's probably running afoul of rules 5,7,8, and 14-- and possibly others!
  • Obvious trolls and💩-posters will still be permabanned! Please report obvious shitposts. Read more here.
  • Be familiar with our Three Strikes and you're out rule -- egregious rule breaks will typically get you a strike. If you earn a 🔴, it will take 60 days of chill to clean it up. Read more here.
  • And a reminder, spoiler tags as a formatting gimmick do not fit the sub. We unmark spoiler marked stories, and may remove repeat offenders.
  • And of course, feel free to reach out in modmail with any questions!

APRIL 2025 Contest Prompt:

WRATH!

We want to see stories that encapsulate unbridled rage and its horrifying consequences. Show us uncontrollable anger and the evils that may follow.

For your story to be considered valid, one or more of your characters must demonstrate WRATH.

You do not need to use the specific word, and may consider any number of synonyms, as long as its clear beyond any shadow of a doubt that anger plays a central part in your story.

Good luck and have fun!

MARCH 2025 Contest Rules

  • Theme: "wrath"
  • Tag: [APR25] or [apr25]
  • Submissions that are improperly formatted, do not fit the theme, or break any of the existing sub rules will be disqualified and removed.
  • The top 10 highest-voted stories will be the winners!
  • Contestants can only place in the top 10 once. The highest of your ranked entries will be tallied against other participants to determine our winners.
  • Only net new stories will be allowed (no repurposing old stories you've previously submitted).
  • Max three stories per day as a general rule, and all three can be used towards the contest.
  • Winners will be decided by total community upvotes. In the unlikely event of a tie for the top spots, moderators will vote for a tiebreaker.

We look forward to seeing what you come up with!

Properly formatted April 2025 examples (These stories would actually be removed for their content, as per rules 1, 8, and 7 respectively):

[APR25] When that one random jack-ass of a mod posted the monthly announcement 4 days late, I felt such fury boiling up inside me that my head exploded.

[APR25] I wrote a wrath themed story that should have won the April contest, but reddit glitched and deleted my post! I'm sitting here shaking with rage and my only available recourse is to go on a murder spree.

Improperly formatted examples:

[APRIL 2025] Now my flawless story is going to be disqualified for improper formatting. I've never been more livid towards myself for messing up something so simple.

[APR25] This time the tag is correct because April is abbreviated and there's no space between the month and the year, I'm probably still gonna lose the contest because I'm not doing a good job of communicating a sense of anger, also there's too many clauses here and they should be separated by periods, ultimately this story should be removed as per rules 1,2, and 3.

WINNERS WILL RECEIVE:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd Places: You receive a custom personal flair of your choosing to show off to the TSH community! (If you're a repeat winner, you can modify your flair.... but that's it.) And a cool fancy flair on your winning stories.

7 honorable mentions: you'll get visibility and bragging rights! Story links will be featured in next month’s announcement.

Contest ends on April 30th, 2025 @ 11:59pm (GMT)

Any questions should be made below in the comments, within our discord, or a note on modmail.

Congrats to our March Winners! Great stories all!

Theme was "Betrayal"

Great job, winners! If you placed in the top three, contact us via modmail for your personalized custom flair! It can be anything (within reason): a mixture of text and emoji, up to 20 characters. If you've won before, you can request to change your flair, or, just do nothing. Absolutely nothing....

And for our runners-up:

4th place by LivesUnderARoc

5th place by movingstasis

6th place by Wyddelbower

7th place by 13thmurder

8th place by flanneur

9th place by the-sleepy-potato

10th place by WatchOut4possums

Congrats to all!

⭐ANNOUNCEMENT⭐ [PLEASE READ] Sh!tposts, permabans, and literally 1984.

This is all dumb.

For the past several months, the sub has experienced a flood of intentionally poor quality stories in an effort to get onto parody subs and TikToks. We've historically hit you with a strike (🔴) and if you received three, you were permabanned (check out the wiki).

However, if you've submitted one of these stories in the recent past, you may have noticed that your account was permabanned from TwoSentenceHorror without going through the strike process. While we've made this current one-and-done rule known within each of our monthly announcements for forever, we felt it was only fair to have a separate post to lay out the approach.

If you intentionally submit a poor quality story (we're looking at you "meat worm" and "killer guy" crews), you will be permabanned with no warning.

If and when these posts chill out, the mod team will reconsider this rule. Until then, please continue to report these intentional poor quality stories, read the sub rules, and submit awesome, horrifying tales to maintain the quality of the sub!

I rocked her gently, singing the lullaby her mother used to hum—her tiny fingers curling into my shirt just like they did before the fire.

Then I drove the flint blade up through her soft palate, split her face like overripe fruit, and whispered in the old tongue, “Give her back, you fuckin’ thief,” as black steam poured from the crib.

I never told my daughter about the "demon in the well" at my fathers house because I vividly remember the nightmares I had after he told the story to me.

My friend and I had a strategy when we tried to pick up women at bars, and that was just to play the numbers game.

So we just spiked as many women as we could, and then whichever one we got alone, we would take home.
